JQuery :: Apply Events To Items That I Add To Page?
Jul 30, 2010
For example, I am using ajax and a bunch of code to generate a list that is dynamically generated. This part is working perfectly, however I can't seem to remove any items from said list (since they didn't exist when document.ready fired). How would I go about having a function that could remove items from my list?(tried declaring something like hideItem(){ $(this).parent('li').hide(); } and calling it in the onclick event of the removal link, but it says the function doesn't exist.

I've got 2 pages: a current events page and a past events page the current events page loads fine as there is only about 10 events the past events page takes about 30 seconds to load and will crash if u click your mouse in the loading time.
The pages are near identical the only difference is the query that selects the events (> versus <)
The page loads immediately without:
But when i put it back in the above happens. I'm using jQuery.roundedcorners.

I'm trying to get some elements enabled when a user start typing in a input field but without success. I try this codes:
$('#keyword').focus(function() {
alert('Handler for .focus() called.');
});
$('#keyword').keypress(function() {
[Code]....
But none of them works. Just try in this page [URL] and start typing in "Buscar" (spanish) or "Search" (if you change to English) input and see that nothing happen and I don't know why. Note that I wrote alert() just for see if it works or not.

was wondering when you create an input element, i.e.
var someInput = createElement('input');
How do you add an event to an input item?
like a onKeyUp event.

I'm using a function to display a table of data on a page (from an array that'll be linked), and using jquery to alternate the background-color of the rows. Readers will then have the option to search the data (not important here) and then to reload the original data. But when the original showAll() function is called from a click event, jQuery doesn't apply the background colors at all. How to 're-awaken' jQuery the second time the showAll() function gets called.
Code:
<html><head><title>Test</title>
<script src="[URL]" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".datarow:nth-child(even)").css("backgroundColor","#ccff00");
$(".datarow:nth-child(odd)").css("backgroundColor","#ccffff");
});
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function showAll() {
var newcode = "";
for (i=1; i<7; i++) {
newcode = newcode + "<div class='datarow'>Data Here</div>";
}document.getElementById('datas').innerHTML = newcode;
}
</script></head>
<body bgcolor="ffffff">
<form><input type="button" value="Show All" onClick="showAll()"></input></form>
<div id="datas" style="width: 300px; height: 400px; "></div>
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">showAll();</script>
</body></html>

I am loading a page with several jquery events on one of the divs. Depending on interaction with the user, the div triggering the jquery events could be reloaded from an ajax call. But as it stands now, new content that is added to the dom is not triggering the code in the original $(document).ready() supplied in the head. If I want the page to set up those events again, I have to reimport the js file containing my jquery events (this causes to copies to exist in the dom. Is there a way to force the existing jquery scripts to rebuild its event stack based on the new dom content? I was thinking something like:
$(document).rebindDom()

I would like to have two columns, the left column showing all available items with an add button. The right column showing all of the added items, and then adding these together to provide an order total, but with the ability for users to add to the quantity or remove from their order.I have the add item to order bit working on, and the sub-total is working.I started to try to add on add/remove buttons to the right #your-order column but am getting stuck.Every time a user adds another item to their order, more buttons are added, and I can't get the "remove item" button working.The page is located here:URL...Should I paste the jQuery code I am using here?

I am trying to "ajaxify" my site. Now I have one problem:
$("#posts").children().remove();
$("#tag-sidebar").children().remove();
$.each(data.Tags_Sidebar, function (indexInArray, valueOfElement) {
var insert = $("<li>");
[Code]......
Now when I click one of those links (href1, href2, href3) generated, the click event won't execute! What's the problem? Also, is it right that I have to transfer the valueOfElement over, like I did? What does stopEventPropagation do? Prevent the href from being navigated to? That's what I am trying to do.
The data object is JSON fed from here:[URL]
The HTML is here: [URL]

In the examples for live() and delegate(), the selectors match at least one element that already exists. Will either of these commands work on elements for which there is no match at all on page load?
In my case, I want to bind a keyup event to the textareas that jeditable creates. I could probably create custom plug-in (to the plug-in :) to do the job, but I'd like to use live or delegate if they would work.

Is it possible for javascript (or any other language, but I presume JS would be the most logical to do this), to know how many items are remaining to load on a webpage.
You know, in IE, it says "28 items remaining" or whatever, and then "Done", when the page has loaded, and onload() function will start. While the page is loading, I have a "loading" message, in HTML, and I want to indicate to the user how long they may have to wait! Hope you understand what I mean, and does anyone know if this can be done?

I have a series of images with an animation bound to mouseover and mouseleave events, and I'm trying to get my head around adding a click event that would prevent the mouseleave animation from occurring only for the image that was clicked, preserving everything else as is (until another image is clicked). I've discovered .stop() and I think I'm getting close, but some part of the logic is still escaping me.

I've done extensive searching, but each example or explanation I come across is too different from my own, so it's ultimately no use. The problem is that I barely know anything when it comes to Javascript, but yet I'm trying to use it. I have a form on a page. This form contains 6 <select> elements, each with its own <option>Other</option> element. If something isn't listed, the user can choose "Other" and then type into a textbox which appears.
I have the following code, which works great if only applied to one <select> element.
<select name="How did you hear about us?" id="How did you hear about us?" onchange="makeBox1()">
<option value="0" selected="selected">-- Select --</option>
<option value="1">Search Engine</option>
<option value="2">Referral</option>
<option value="3">Trade Publication</option>
<option value="4">Vendor Web Site</option>
<option value="5">Your Company Website</option>
<option value="6">Direct Mail</option>
<option value="7">Other</option>
</select><div id = "inputBox1"></div>
<script type = "text/javascript">
function makeBox1() {
var a = "<input type = 'text' name = 'box1' id = 'box1' class='form popup'>"
if (document.getElementById("How did you hear about us?").value==7) {
document.getElementById("inputBox1").innerHTML = a;
} else {
document.getElementById("inputBox1").innerHTML = "";
}}
</script>
I've read that you have to combine onchange events, but I have no idea how to do this (I've done plenty of trial and error, trying to make every item unique, but to no avail.

It was originally an imaged based menu, but they wanted it all changed to css/html. I used quickmenu and it used JS to produce the arrows at the top of each menu item.I'm trying to program the menu items to stay active when on the current page. At first, it looks correct, but if you hover back over the menu, it changes back to the inactive state.

I am currently trying to figure out some event stuff with Javascript. I have the page capturing all onkeypress events by calling my function keyPress, and passing the event as an argument.
The key presses get passed to a text field that I have on the page (even if it's out of focus at the time of the key press) by using textfield.focus() within my keyPress function. This seems to pass the event along to the text field so that it registers the stroke and handles it as if the field was in focus at the time of the key press.
My problem lies in that I need to then grab the new value of the text field for use with another part of the script. It seems though that with the way I'm setting focus, it'll execute the rest of my keyPress function (with the outdated text field value) before the text field handles the event.
Is there a way to yield the event to this text field first?
Sorry, this was a long post, but I guess here's a short recap: If I handle key presses via the body of the page, so that regardless of the text field's current state of focus it updates the text field accordingly, is there a way to have that happen first before the rest of my function that needs to use the new value of the text field?
