JQuery :: Add A Class To The Selected Thumbnail?

Jun 8, 2011

I have a thumbnail scroller using the jquery thumbnail scroller plugin, and i have added some code to make the linked larger image appear in an empty div above the scroller.

I have been trying to add a class to the selected thumbnail - which would be removed and applied to a new one upon click - however nothing i do seems to be working.

$(document).ready(function(){
$("ul#thumbnailImages li a").click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
var image = $(this).attr('href');

Highlighting A Thumbnail That's Been Selected?

Jan 10, 2010

I have a jQuery script running on my site that makes it so when you click on a thumbnail, a different overflow:hidden div is scrolled to the anchor point that thumbnail was linking to.I want to make it so the thumbnail that you clicked becomes selected (and all over thumbnails become unselected). This could be with a border, a shadow, an image appearing behind it, opacity - basically anything (preferably an image appearing behind it).

JQuery :: Add CSS Class To Selected Link?

Mar 13, 2011

I'm building a calendar and using a jQuery script to shift between "list view" and "calendar view". The thing is, that I would like to add a unique CSS class to the selected link, so I can make a highlight effect (or something like that) that only applies to the currently selected link. My script is:

jQuery(document).ready(function(){
//if this is not the first tab, hide it
jQuery(".tab:not(:first)").hide();
//to fix u know who

Apply Selected Class To One
When Another
Is Clicked On

Sep 4, 2010

I currently have a script that dynamically adds a css class called "on" to a menu item once it is selected, turning that link red to show that it's active. Here is the web page: [URL] As you can see, if you click on "Dimmer" or "Pol Pot's Birthday", or one of the three Patriotville scene links (1, 2, or 3), those links stay red. But what I need to happen is that when the user hovers over OR clicks on "1", "2", or "3", the word "Patriotville" also turns red along with those links. Here is the current code:

/**/
var Lst;
function CngClass(obj){
if (Lst) Lst.className='';
obj.className='on';

Apply CSS Class - Selected Item As The Background Color Won't Change?

Apr 28, 2009

This is for an online quiz that collects selected answers through hidden checkboxes, and when a checkbox is selected the javascript changes the background of that selected item. However the problem is when javascript is disabled the whole thing won't work because the checkboxes have a class of .hide which, obviously, hides them and the user can't see that they've actually selected an item as the background color won't change. So I was thinking that instead the javascript could apply the class of hide to the input. That way if it's disabled the checkboxes will show.

JQuery :: Assigning A Click To A Class Selector - Once Clicked The Class Is Removed - Does This Work

May 5, 2011

I have a huge blob of code but the main part I am focusing on is this

$('.billboard_click').click(function () {
//this remove class
$(".billboard_click").removeClass("billboard_click");
});

1. Execute a click event when the div with the class 'billboard_click' is clicked

2. Once clicked, remove the class from that very div to avoid another click from happening

3. Execute a series of events such as animations, etc

4. add the class back to the clicker div

The code does not seem to work as expected but I am wondering if I am having issues elsewhere at this point and wonder if this actually is known to work

JQuery :: Galleria Thumbnail Gaps & Loading

Jun 23, 2010

1. I have a number of images placed in my html page simply using the img tag. When the page is loading I see these images stacked (full size) for a few seconds before galleria loads and then begins to convert them into thumbnails. how to hide the images on the page but only to appear in the galleria as the images start to load as thumbnails?

2. I wish to have the same 5px (horizontal) gap between each thumbnail. However my images are of different sizes and have been optimized to a max width or max height. I do not wish for the thumbnails to be cropped so have set: thumb_crop: false, This has now visually created an inconsistent horizontal space between each thumbnail (highlighted in pink to show the gap left and right of each one). I have already attempted to change the thumbnail width to auto in the css, but with no success. How do I remove the 'excess' left & right space from each thumbnail so that the gap appears consistent?

3. Lastly, upon page load, is it possible to hide the main stage image until a thumbnail is selected? I wish to initially display some text (where the main image sits) which is then replaced with the main image when the user clicks on one of the thumbnails.

JQuery :: Selector Speed - Class Only Versus Tag With Class

Mar 9, 2011

I'm trying to figure out which selector is faster (assuming that the class 'foo' only appears on input tags)...

$('.foo');
or
$('input.foo');

From what I've seen online, it seems that people recommend $('input.foo'), but in some limited testing it appears that $('.foo') is much faster in both FF and Chrome. In IE, both methods seem to produce similar results. Here is a fiddle with a simple example...

Have browsers started implementing native ways to find all elements with a given class name? Would that explain why $('.foo') seems to be faster?
