JQuery :: Using Ui Plugin. Don't Know What Functions Name To Use?
Oct 10, 2009
I am using this: [URL]... plugin to jquery ui. The problem is that it's not working at all. I downloaded the firefox debugger and it's spitting out a error saying that it can't find the function of carousel. I am not sure what the function is called. Their is no documentation but their are demos that I can look at the source code. I see them using .carousel as a function so I used that same function call. Yet I can't get my carousel to work.

I'd like to expose some of the functions defined within a plugin. The plugin I'm using us asmselect [URL], and the structure of the code is:
[Code]...
I'd like to be able to call addListItem() from another javascript function. What's a good way to expose that function to the outside world?

Firstoff: I know I ask about using a plugin, and I wasn't so sure where to put my question in, decided though the general jQuery-Forum would be better as my problem is more connected to jQuery than the plugin itself. First off, I'm using this plugin and modified it myself a bit, adding new functions: [URL] You'll find the underlying .js for the component here: [URL] Now, scroll to the end of the file, you'll find some "internal functions" like _registerRemoveEvents

I've just developed a plugin that mimics the combo box control, albeit it's a special one. That's being defined as follows:
function
$
{
$.fn.extend
{
[Code].....
But this isn't possible, since the $myList variable is a jQuery object. So I just defined some functions, say, $.smartList.getSelectedValue and the like... but in this approach, I've to pass the jQuery object to this functions as a mandatory parameter and this really sucks. i.e., I need to get the selected value of $myList this way:
var value = $.smartList.getSelectedValue
$myList
;

I am using Ben Alman's JQuery resize plugin in order to obtain the varying computed width of an element when the window is resized (the element in question is a page wrapper that exhibits the expand-to-fit behavior of a block box, and it's computed width is obviously influenced by the resizing of the window. Essentially, what I need to be able to do, is to reference a variable that is defined in a .resize() function ('width_page') in a seperate .each() function.
[Code]...
I now understand that variables can't cross boundaries like in the example above, which leaves me a little stuck. I also understand that this is specific to the context of the .resize() function, and that it can't be taken out of it without using an element selector. Is there some way I can call the .resize() function in my .each() function?

I have a slideshow plugin and there is a function in it called stopAutoplay(). This is called when I click on the pre-defined pause button in the slideshow, so it stops.
If I switch between the slideshows(Slideshow 1 2 3) the slideshow is getting messier and messier because it starts many slideshows at the same time and the plugin gets confused what to show.
I figured if I click on the pause button before I switch to another slideshow it works fine. Therefore what I would like to achieve now is to call stopAutoplay() somehow before I switch to the new slides.
How can I call stopAutoplay() from the html file when I click on one of the slideshow 1 2 3 buttons?
I've tried the codes in green below but they don't work.
fadeSlideShow(); plugin pause function part:
stopAutoplay = function(){
clearInterval(intval);
intval = false;
[Code]....
If there is a better solution let's say to kill everything before the new slideshow appears it's even better. Although I've tried die(), empty(), detach(), remove(). I hoped remove() would help cause as I read it's suppsed to remove everything but for some reasons it doesn't...

I am creating an extension plugin to the jQuery UI Date Picker plugin mostly to just standardize the options used, as well as to add an icon to open the calendar. I am aware of the plugin's use of an icon trigger, but this will not work, as I am using an icon in my sprite image and not wanting an additional request for a mere icon.
My plugin code:
(
function
(
$
)
[Code]....
This is where it really perplexes me as this code does work to produce the calendar icon. while I could get it to work this way, it is obviously not the better choice as it should be part of the extension plugin and not get repeated in all of my various implementations of the plugin.

To jquery and am wanting to incorporate 'Cloud Carousel' plugin in another jquery plugin (jquery popup with grayed out background). However, I am struggling to make it work. whereas normally the 'Cloud Carousel' displays as you seen on their website, in my implementation, all the images are sitting on top of each other, as if, they are sitting in a stack and one by one they appear on top.

I have written a number of functions designed to return frequency data on 1000 randomly chosen numbers using different math functions for the rounding. I would like to include all of these functions within the wrapper of another function so that only one call is needed to get returns from all of the 'inner' functions. However, while each of the functions works in isolation, the moment I wrap them in another function they stop working. :confused:
The following code is one of the functions 'frequencyWrapperOne' that has been wrapped in the function 'testWrapper'. A call to testWrapper does nothing.
function testWrapper()
{
function frequencyWrapperOne()
{

I have it working to where when the user clicks on the name in the autocomplete list, it will fill that value to the text input box. What I need it to do is after it fills in the value, also submit the form, à la Google. I would usually research how to do this, Here's what I have for the code so far.

How can I get 2 functions working at the same time? Here is what I have at the top:
[Code]...
It seams every time i comment out switch.js the innerfade function works then if I comment out jquery.innerfade.js(image change), switch.js (menu)works. But they do not work at the same time so if the images are changeing I cannot hover over the buttons on the menu they act like a graphic, basically not interactive.

I have the following pieces of jquery code.
$(function () {
$('select[id$=lstOwnership]').bind("change keyup", function () {
if ($(this).val() == 2) {
[code]....
Based on this logic, I'd like to show/hide the ID tag based on the values of a drop down list and another textbox. They both work fine but the problem I'm having is that each can cancel out the other. For example, if the 'txtPercentOther' textbox value is 3 and the drop down item has a value of 2, the ID tag is shown which is fine. But if I were to change the drop down list value to something else, it'll hide the ID tag, even though the other text box still has a value of 3 which means the ID tag should remain shown. I'm wondering if I maybe need to name my function so I can call the other in each.

I'm pretty new to jquery and I've been working on a little project to see what I can do. The issue is when I first visit the page and click the first link that appears in the main section it displays the popup box as wanted. Now when I click another day, for instance sunday and try to click the first link it doesn't do anything. And if I click back to Saturday the first link also doesn't do anything.
It seems something is not properly activating or maybe a command is overwriting and not allowing it to work like it does when you first hit the landing page.

I have a page where when a button is clicked, I want that div to be replaced by the content of another div (which loads as display:none).
I first tried fadeOut/fadeIn but the div will not occupy the same space as the div it's replacing, no matter what I try (such as giving it a high z-index).
The way I was able to achieve what i wanted to do was like this:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#reply-button").click(function(){
$('#showprofile').html($('#showreply').html());
});
});
The above works fine, but it gets more complicated once I add in a "cancel" button which should toggle the div back to its original content:
$(document).ready(function(){
var showprofile_orig = $('#showprofile').html();
$("#reply-button").click(function(){
$('#showprofile').html($('#showreply').html());
[Code]....
The above works but the runs into a problem. If they click to cancel, then click reply once more, nothing happens. I suspect I need to put the reply-button function inside the reply-cancel function there to make that work, but then I need to nest the cancel function inside that and so on to infinity.
