JQuery :: Using - To See If CSS Is Disabled - Manipulates The Elements

Sep 3, 2009

I'm trying to code a site using progressive enhancement methods. It's built upon standards-compliant CSS and HTML and JS. I'm using jQuery on the site to animate some elements on hover etc. Now, when CSS and JS is disabled, it's all good. But, If CSS is disabled and JS is still enabled, the js still manipulates the elements and it's not what I want.

JQuery :: Looping Through Non-disabled Form Elements?

Jul 18, 2010

I would like to loop through elements that are NOT disabled. So far my code is:

$("#addlivestock :input").each(function(){
if($(this).find().attr('disabled','disabled'))
{
var getAttr = $(this).attr("name");

[Code]....

When I click a button that code fires. When that code fires all the elements that aren't disabled get disabled. My code does NOT work as expected and I found the problem, which is if($(this).find().attr('disabled','disabled')). how to loop through form elements that are NOT disabled.

Disabling Form Elements - Dropdown To Be Switched Off / Disabled If They Have Radio Button And Vice Versa

Sep 26, 2010

I have a Java form where I need to be able to switch a drop down with a text box using Javascript. The change would be made depending on the radio button choice the user makes. The drop down is the default form element and radio button A is checked by default. So when the user clicks radio button B the text box should appear and if they change their mind and select radio button A the drop down should come back.

Whats making this a little tricky is that I'm doing my form validation using Java via the form element name. So these two will have the same name. I need for the drop down to be switched off/disabled if they have radio button B and vice versa. Is all this doable using javascript?

JQuery :: Enabling Disabled Button Does Not Refresh Correctly?

Mar 29, 2011

I am disabling an input button on my data entry form until all of the data validates correctly. When I enable the button it does not always display the same as the Cancel button that was not disabled. Ioccasionally appears asthoughthe mouse is hovering over it. I have discovered that if I tab to the button or if I hover the mouse over it, it then displays OK after I tab to the next button or move the mouse off of it.This is the html that defines the button.

<input type="button" id="submitButton" value="Submit Changes"></input>

This is the javascript that inits the button.

$("#submitButton").button().click(function() {
submitData(); // Submits data via Ajax

JQuery :: Attach Click Event To Fieldset Instead Of Disabled Submit Button?

Feb 23, 2011

I have a disabled submit button sitting in the fieldset of a form. What I'd like to do is attach a click event to this button, but from what I understand this can't be done since you can't attach events to disabled elements.

Is it possible to attach it to the fieldset? I'm not completely familiar with event bubbling but maybe it's possible to capture the element clicked?

JQuery :: Enabling Disabled Submit Button On Browser's Back Action?

Feb 3, 2010

when the following code is used in my JSP page:

$('#myForm').bind('submit', function() {
$('#submit').attr('disabled', 'disabled');
});

it disables the submit button when my form is submitted (IDs are used). This action displays a result page. If the browser's Back button is pressed to change some of entered items, the submit button in Firefox is still disabled, while the same action in MSIE8 enables it again. I don't know if this is exactly JavaScript/browser/chache issue, how to get the submit button enabled 'automatically' Unfortunately the refresh button in Firefox doesn't help either (probably JSP issue) - I have to press Enter on the address bar which is not very obvious for every user.

JQuery :: Show / Hide Elements Or Remove / Add Elements Based On Radio Selection By User?

Mar 14, 2010

I have a page I am working and I am having some trouble with: I need to show and hide areas based on a radio selection. I initally started using the show / hide feature in Jquery but the problem is the elements need to be removed but then put back if the user selects the radio buttonagain as it has form elements that have validaion on them. The validation is still trying to validate the form elements becuase they are still on the page but just not showing. This is the radio group the user makes the selection from:

<input name="terms_usr" type="radio" id="terms_usr_1" value="1"/>
<label for="terms_usr_1">Credit Card</label>
<input type="radio" name="terms_usr" id="terms_usr_2" value="2"/>

JQuery :: Enable A Disabled Checkbox After The User Has Completely Scrolled? Down To The Bottom Of A Textarea?

I'm trying to recreate a behaviour which enables a disabled checkbox after the user has completely scrolled down to the bottom of a textarea ("agree to license terms"). My current state can be found at http:[url]....The checkbox is not being enabled with my approach. I can enable the checkbox if I explicitly set scrollTop to a value, but then I'm not able to scroll anymore at all. So I am guessing it probably has to do with the scroll check not working properly.

Widget.disabled

Sep 9, 2005

I have a function (below) which is executed upon the clicking of a
checkbox called 'yeschk'. This function works as expected for FireFox,
i.e., the 4 widgets (nametext, emailtext, addme, and removeme) disable
or enable immediately when the 'yeschk' checkbox is clicked. But in IE,
this doesn't happen immediately. Instead, the mouse has to be clicked
somewhere else on the page, first. So in IE, to disabled/enable the 4
widgets, I need to click the 'yeschk' checkbox, then click anywhere else
except 'yeschk'. I don't understand why this is, and it is aggravating.

Is there a known trick that I could implement that would cause IE to
enable/disable the 4 widgets immediately on a 'yeschk' click?

function chkboxChange() {
document.email.nametext.disabled = !document.email.yeschk.checked;
document.email.emailtext.disabled = !document.email.yeschk.checked;
document.email.addme.disabled = !document.email.yeschk.checked;
document.email.removeme.disabled = !document.email.yeschk.checked;
}
