JQuery :: Tablesorter And Zebra Does Not Stripe Rows On Initial Sort
May 27, 2009
With a tablesorter config that looks something like this:
$("#table").tablesorter({
cssHeader: "sortAble",
cssAsc: "sortAsc",
cssDesc: "sortDesc",
headers: {3: {sorter: 'time'}},
sortList: sortOrder,
widgets: ['zebra'],
widgetZebra: { css: ['','alt'] },
debug: true
});
The alternating row style is not applied to the odd/even rows on the initial display of the table. If a user clicks any of the headers to change the sort-by column, or to change the sort-order, then the striping is applied. I'm using jQuery 1.3.2 and tablesorter 2.0.3. Searching the list for "tablesorter zebra", I found mention of needing to patch tablesorter 2.0.3 for 1.3.2 [URL] - does this still apply?

I am using the jQuery TableSorter plugin on a table that I have shaded. The table sorts successfully, but the shading is not refreshed when the table refreshes. How can I refresh the shading as well after the sort?

I have a site with 2 side by side tables with matching data. The left table is a drag-n-drop implementation so you can reorder the values in the database just by dragging and dropping. It works wonderfully. I want the right table to reflect the changes instantaneously. I got the right table to reload itself with the following jquery line:
$("#newMeet").load(location.href+" #newMeet>*","");
I stuck that line in the "Update" function of my "Sortable" funtion. And the line that I am using to initially stripe the right table is:
$(".checks2:even").addClass("grayBack");
Now matter where I stick that line, I cannot get the table re-striped after it reloads.

According to the documentation, tablesorter plugin should be able to sort by shortdates (Both UK and US formats).The user can select a dateFormat, like "dd/mm/yyy" when setting up the sorter.I've tried to do this - but it has no effect at all.I've looked at the DEMO for tablesorter, and even-though they write "We sort UK shortDates", they actually filled the table with US formatted dates... So, I have never actually seen this function working Anyway, I've done as I believe is right according to the documentation - but I cannot get it to sort by the dateFormat "dd/mm/yyyy".[URL]

I am using the excellent jquery.tablesorter successfully for a large number of 40-row tables that live together on one page. So far I'm very happy with the plugin. My users also need the ability to apply any column sort they invoke automatically to *all* tables on the pae. They do not wish to sort the tables individually. As recommended in another thread, I have been looking at sortStart and sortEnd, but have been pulling my hair out trying to get this working. My JS:
<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">
$(document).ready(function() {
// extend the default setting to always sort on the first column
$.tablesorter.defaults.sortList = [[0,0]];
[Code].....

The default sort (when clicking on any of the headers in the tablesorter table) is ascending. Now, I want to change that to descending for ALL columns, not just the initial sort column (defined in sortList). I've tried editing sortInitialOrder parameter in the .js itself, and nothing. I've tried adding it as a parameter in my html page when defining and assigning tablesorter, and nothing. What am I missing? And how do I accomplish this?

I am using Jquery and the tablesorter plugin to sort a table of information. Within the table i have a column of checkboxes. A user can check the boxes and press the submit button which will $_POST the checked boxes onto the next page. Everything works if i dont sort the table, but if i sort the table and then check a few boxes the $_POST array is empty.

I have been using tablesorter2.0 plugin to sort the table. My requirement is such that I don't want few rows to be sorted. Like i can add a class like <tr class="nosort"> for rows to whom sorting should not be applied. And rest all rows should be sorted. Can't find a way to do this.

table stripes are init with ... $("tbody tr:nth-child(even)",$context).addClass("even");
The event function for a click on a <th> loads sorted data ... $('tbody',$context).load("Grid.ajax.php?grid_id="+$grid_id+"&orderby="+this.title);
The striping is lost ... I tried adding the same statement after the load() with no change.
#1 ... What is the best practice for restoring the stripe effect other than doing it on the server.
#2 ... Should I call ".empty()" before an ajax request to protect against garbage left in memory?
#3 ... I also have a row highlighting functions for mouseover/mouseout events. Can I assume the ".live()" event definition should apply to rows added after an ajax request.

OK so Ive been using jquery for a little bit now and love it. I am a ColdFusion developer. I have a need where I would like to present the user with a list of categories and the user can drag and drop to sort, but then I need to post this new sort order to the database. So I see there are a ton of cool drag & drop plugins for jquery. I understand how they work and I can get it to work as far as spitting out DIVS or spitting out ULs that can be sorted, but then what? So now they are sorted on my screen and not really part of the form. How do I translate that into something I can do a post to the database with? Do I do an AJAX call every time they drop an item and try to extrapolate the sort order on that item after they drop it? Do I populate a hidden form field with the constantly updating sort order list? MAybe a list of ID's? How does everyone else go about this this task? I'm sure there is more than one way and I'm sure this is a common task.

I am building a shopping cart in Volusion. I've come really far and can find my way around HTML and CSS.But the template I am using has a zebra function that it uses on the shopping cart screen. The colors it is using are terrible, and I can't figure out how to change them.By zebra, I mean it picks every other row in a table and assigns a different background color. I am noticing in firebug that the div-ids of the items in the cart have div-ids taht are not listed in any of the CSS files in the theme.I figured out that this type of coding is usually done in JavaScripting. I tried editing that file in every logical way, and I can get no response out of it aside from my browser hanging. I even tried commenting out different sections.
I'm not sure if you are at all familiar with Volusion, but they provide absolutely no assistance and try very hard to make things as hard as possible so customers will be desperate for their design services. All support will say is, "we are prohibited from providing any coding information. Would you like me to transfer you to sales?" They routinely remove resources that were once helpful. Nice customer service.

I have some JQuery that makes an Ajax call and then adds some rows to an existing table.
function
LoadDestinationTable() {
$("#destinationTable tr:gt(0)"[code]...
The problem is that the only place where the click event fires is on the rows that were added when the page was 1st rendered – the th, for example.I also tried adding an onclick event handler to the input button’s creation – that also does not fire.

I realize this script and I do not know where to begin:
1) A simple grid rows / columns.
2) The first column contain an input type = "checkbox"
3) When select the input type, the line should change color than the other rows, and you should open a popup window.
For points 1, 2 you are OK. Point 3 is the difficulty.

Click on "Personal Pathways". Any idea why the jquery would start blinking on the first click, but load fine after?
It wasn't doing that at first, something changed, I went back through everything line by line removing and checking added elements but I'm stuck.

I'm trying to get tablesorter working on my site, as per [URL]
Here's the page I'm working on: [URL]
I've included references to jquery-1.5.1.min.js and jquery.tablesorter.min.js in the page header, and uploaded the files to my site. I'm sure the references are OK, because if I use firefox web developer to view javascript it can find both of these.
I've included a script in the header to sort the table:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function()
{
$("#myTable").tablesorter();
[Code].....
The table has an id of "myTable" and is of class "tablesorter".
I've uploaded the css file, and again, I'm sure this is being located OK, because the table has the look and feel of a tablesorter class, and again web Developer is able to display the css correctly.
BUT, the icons aren't appearing, and the table is not sorting. I've put copies of the icons in root, in the same directory as the page and the same directory as the jquery files for good measure, but they're not being found. And no amount of clicking will sort the columns.
