JQuery :: Side-sliding Panel Bugs?

Oct 6, 2011

go to the "Jupiter" graphic on the top left, you'll see that I have a little tab at the bottom of that labeled "Physical". When you click on it, it slides out of the way, exposing a tab labeled "Orbital" and when you click on that one it slides out of the way and exposes a third tab labeled "Atmosphere". These all drive the little spec sheets above- though that's not where the problem lies.The problem is when instead of clicking on the exposed label, you click on the little sliver of the one right behind it, causing the other two tabs to do unintended things. Here's the code:

$(document).ready(function(){
$(".badgeTab-A").click(function() {
$(this).animate({'left':'+=80px'}, 'fast', 'linear');

JQuery :: Positioning Div - Create A Sliding Panel Using Css

Oct 25, 2009

I'm trying to create a sliding panel using css and jQuery, sliding up from the footer of our page. The panel is acitvated by clicking the "newsletter" link (will be used to display a subscription form) in the footer. Functionality looks good, but there is a problem with the look and the positioning. First of all, the positioning is off. It fits seemlesly in the FF I used for creating this effect, but on various browsers and resolutions, the div is displayed higher or lower in stead of "glued" to the top of the footer div. Secondly, I'd like this div to be 100% wide, just like the footer below, with a 940px centered div within to include the content.

Sliding Panel - Slides Out Or In Smoothly

Jun 9, 2011

I've created this sliding panel where I click the Sidebar button and it slides out or in. But I would like to make it run more smoothly. I tried storing references to the elements within the MoveSidebar() as this.variables, so that they wouldn't be re-defined each time, but then FF spits out that 'this.sidebar.style' is undefined?!

How can I make it run more smoothly, or get FF to recognise 'this.sidebar.style' (once I reinstate all the this.references)? Here's the whole page and the button is also attached for ease of testing.

Sliding Panel - Take The Object OSidebar Out Of The Global Scope

I created this code for a sliding panel and it works well. But I'm struggling to take the object oSidebar out of the global scope. I would prefer that it were a property of the clicked event object. That is, I want to be able to use 'this.oSidebar' within the click event. I've posted the whole page here along with the click image.

The many panel disappears when the mouse moves out. I think it's quite neat and I'm hoping to be able to do something like that with jQuery.

GetElementById Bugs

Nov 21, 2006

getElementById Bugs

There are two getElementById bugs up for discussion:

1. getElementById is case-insensitive but it should be case-sensitive.

2. getElementById searches NAME attributes as well as ID attributes but it should not.

My tests show that IE 6 and down have both bugs, Opera 9.02 has bug #2, Opera 7.54 has neither bug, and FireFox 1.5.0.7 has neither bug.

My proposed solution relies on something I noticed while testing in IE: "document.all" is case-sensitive altho it too searches NAME as well as ID attributes.

I would really appreciate if some different people could help me verify these findings in different browsers and on different platforms.

There has been another proposed solution - but I really don't like removing the ID attribute.

JQuery :: Encode/decode Of JSON - Server-side And Client-side?

May 26, 2009

I am building a client-side and server-side solution and want to use JSON through Ajax in both directions. I have ASP or JavaScript server-side, though Microsoft's support of server side JavaScript seems nil, so I am reluctantly conceeding to use ASP. I'd appreciate suggestions on available solutions to encode/decode JSON on the server-side (ASP or JavaScript). I don't plan to load jQuery server-side so that rules out plug-ins. I'd also like to know what is the latest client-side encode/decode for JSON. Is it built in jQuery or a plug-in? In both server and client, decoding JSON securely is key, so using eval () to decode is out.

Element.getElementsByClassName() IE And Opera Bugs

Aug 20, 2005

I'm trying to implement getElementsByClass() for the document object
and the Element interface, that supposed to work for HTML, XHTML, SVG
and MathML class attributes (including mixed namespace documents) and I
have it working perfectly in Gecko (tested in Firefox 1.0.6 and Deer
Park Alpha 2). I'm just having some serious problems with IE and a bug
in Opera.

The test [1] is supposed to get a NodeList (an Array() with an item()
method added) of elements by class name and then output an alert()
containing the tagNames of the selected elements.

After a fair bit of testing, I believe the problem is occuring with the
way I'm trying to attach the getElementsByClassName() and hasClassName()
functions to elements in IE using an HTC. It seems to be breaking at
the point within document.getElementsByClassName() where I call
element.hasClassName (line 34 of the script [2]) but my understanding of
this workaround using HTCs [3]] that I'm trying to use is very limited
and I don't understand why it's breaking. Code:

Finding Bugs In Minimized Code?

Mar 7, 2011

We have a js heavy web-ui. In the production environment it runs minimized, composed from 10 or so js files. When we have a js-error of some sort (we have about 100 users and growing) we write the window.onerror information to a database. Only, it is not very helpful since linenumbers mean nothing in the intelligeble code.

Is there a minifier that tags the result that would allow translation of linenumbers? Is there some other method people use to solve this problem?

Sending Values From Server Side To Client Side Javascript

Jul 20, 2005

I have a Hyperlink within a String like below:

sSql = "SELECT DISTINCT " + "'Action' = '<center><a
href='+char(34)+'ChangeRequest.aspx?ID='+cast(Chan geRequest.ChangeRequest_ID

I want to invoke a Client side javascript function and pass the value
of the ID. How can I accomplish this such when a user clicks "Open" he
goes to a new window with the same ID.

I tried this but it does not work:
On Server side:

CHAR(34)+)'>Open</a></center>',"

On Client side:

window.open("ChangeRequest.aspx?ID="+myID,"WindowName","width=500,height=600");

Adjusting Code To Use Either Server-side Or Client-side Validation--NOT BOTH?

Sep 11, 2009

I have the following PHP code, which uses server-side validation, which works fine. It the user leaves the text field empty it stores an error in a session array which is outputted on the page where the $_GET['id'] variable came from. I also implemented a snippet of javascript code that just checks to see if the cell is empty and throws up alert box. The problem is that both the javascript code and php error validation are both running when I click submit. The PHP code should be a backup to the javascript code in case the user has javascript turned off. The client-side validation should be the default. Not sure if this change should be made in my PHP Code or Javascript Code.

PHP CODE:
session_start();
require_once("../Modules/Connection_Functions.php");[code].....

Client Side Script With Server Side Controls

Jul 20, 2005

I have a web form that has a checkbox on it and a textbox associated
with it. I want the textbox to be displayed when the checkbox is checked
and I want this to happen on the client-side instead of posting back to
the server. The checkbox is a server control (asp:checkbox...). I can
write some codebehind that will display an alert message upon checking
the box that looks something like this...

Page_Load...

Dim s As String
Dim scriptString As New System.Text.StringBuilder

chkExpDate.Attributes.Add("onclick", "alertmsg()")
scriptString.Append("<script language=JavaScript> function alertmsg()
{")
scriptString.Append("alert('hi'); }<")
scriptstring.Append("/" + "script>"
s = scriptstring.ToString()

Page.RegisterStartupScript("startup", s)

End Sub

I used this as a test to make sure the server control was running the
script. But, when I change the script to assess the value of the server
control checkbox such as checked = true, I get errors and if I just try
to display the asp:textbox, it doesn't work either.
