JQuery :: Function To Have An Element Inserted, Or Removed From The DOM?

Nov 22, 2011

Is there a possible way to mimic the livequery's function to have an element inserted, or removed from the DOM? As I know the fastest and simpliest way was to use the livequery plugin.

So is there any way to mimic that function with the on, and the off functions yet?

JQuery :: Target Any Element On Document Ready Generated By AJAX On Run Time

Aug 18, 2011

I want to call me function on document ready and target elements will generate by AJAX at run time. Is there any function for that?

I'm familiar about live() and delegate() but main problem is that, We can use it with any event only :(

We can call delegate() or live() with events like click, mouseOver, mouseLeave, focus etc. There is not any way to call it on document ready :(

Is there any other function we can use to do that without any event?

JQuery :: Dynamically Added Element Cannot Be Removed / Solve This?

Oct 26, 2011

In my application I render a couple of elements dynamically after the user selects an option in a dropdown list. When the user selects another option in the dropdown, I want to remove all the previous elements that was added dynamically. I've tried with the .Remove() function, but it seems the elements cannot be found in the DOM. I've looked a lot at the .live() events. Does anyone now how I can solve this?

JQuery :: Selecting Element Dynamically Inserted Into DOM

Sep 28, 2010

I can't figure out how to coax JQuery in to selecting an element that is manually (dynamically) inserted in to the DOM after the page loads. For example:
If I have HTML:
<div id="bar">
World!
</div>

Then I create a new element and insert it in to DOM:
var foo = '<div id="foo">Hello</div>';
$("#bar").before($(foo));

I end up with this, which is great:
<div id="foo">Hello</div>
<div id="bar">
World!
</div>

Now that's very nice, but later on I might want to do something different with the element I inserted, using JQuery to manipulate that new element. But if I try to do:
myHappyEl = $("#foo");
Then myHappyEl will be undefined. JQuery doesn't see it, presumably because it go attached after JQuery was done watching for such things. How I can coax JQuery in to noticing the existence of new elements created not only in exactly the manner shown here, but in general after the DOM has fully loaded.

I've seen lots of suggestions addressing a possibly related but subtly different issue, wherein the solution is to use .live() to attach an event listener when an element comes in to being. That would be brilliant if I wanted to capture a click event or something, but I don't; I want to be able to select the dynamically added element(s). Perhaps there's a simple way to accomplish this using live(), but I haven't seen it yet. If there is a solution using live then I'd like to know what event and what function to trigger!

The Element Gets Removed In The Page That Is Viewed And Not In The Html?

Dec 15, 2010

I am taking the document.documentElement.innerHTML from the current page displayed to the user and converting it to pdf using Java.I send document.documentElement.innerHTML from the client and interpret and process it at the server.My question is : there are several elements that I would like to remove in the html before I can send it over to the server.Eg. I do not need some text boxes etc as the pdf will be a snapshot of the viewing page hence no need for input boxes. When I try :

var comments = document.getElementById('toggleDisplayComments');
var parentElement = comments.parentNode;
parentElement.removeChild(comments);

The element gets removed in the page that is viewed and not in the html that I am sending

JQuery :: Access An HTML Fragment That Was Inserted By A Different Function?

Oct 19, 2010

<html>
<head>
<script type='text/javascript' src='jquery-1.4.2.js'></script>
<script type='text/javascript'>
$(document).ready(function(){

[Code]...

The above is a simplified example of the problem I'm facing. I could merge functions into one big self-referencing function (i.e. recursive function), but that's ugly and causes other problems (such as when insert form elements and wanting to harvest the user input afterwards). I considered declaring a variable in the top ".ready" function, and have all child functions stuff their HTML changes in it, but that seems to be a pain to keep track of and removes much of the value of using jQuery in the first place...

Is there a nice solution for this? To, after inserting HTML, somehow update the HTML state referred to by jQuery in the non-local scope(s)?

Document.createElement Element - Remove 'div' Before Returning The Function

Apr 18, 2011

I've written the following small feature test.

[Code].....

I want to remove 'div' before returning the function. Testing in IE something like div.parentNode.removeChild(div); will fail. If I look in the dom 'div's parentNode is null, so that explains that. It needs to be appended to something first I guess.

Script With Document.write Inside Iframe Hangs First Time, Works Second Time (in IE)?

Dec 22, 2010

I have put together a script which does this:

1. Make ajax request (via getHTTPObject(), no libraries is used)

2. Create an iframe with script, src is "blank.html".

3. use iframe.document.write() to execute scripts (inkluding document.write based scripts) in the iframe.

4. call parent window's document to clone the iframe content.

5. Append the content clone to parent body.

Works like a charm in all browsers but IE, where every version - including IE9 beta - hangs on iframeWindow.document.close() with empty cache, leaving the window/tab unresponsible. When I force quit, restart and load the page again (now in cache) it works.What I've tried already:

* Googled.

* called the ajax request callback manually with string instead of request.responseText - it works even with empty cache here.Removed document.close() - resulting in scripts in iframe not executing at all (again, only with empty cache, cached pages works fine).

* Tested to make the ajax request synchronous - no difference.

Console.log trace:

Code:
append() begin
unlimited-scroll.js:160 install() begin
unlimited-scroll.js:194 iframe begin[code].....

I use the document.ready function by jquery to trigger some action in an asp page. the problem is that IE has problems the first time the page is loaded. I register the window.resize event for example to do the same actions i do once after first load to keep some alignments correct. these will work in ie but not the initial alignings. I played around with the position of the javascript already and tried everything from having it in the header as well as putting as last element right before </body>.

JQuery :: Pull Element Out Of IFrame Into Parent Document?

May 28, 2009

I'm working on a project and within a document I have content being loaded into an iframe. When a user clicks on an item in the iframe, a pop-up div is loaded using the facebox plugin but it's obviously contained by the iframe. Is there any way that I can pull that element out of the iframe into the parent document? Or at least position it so it looks like it's part of the parent document and not the iframe? My reasoning for this is sizing and positioning. I want to expand the size of the facebox div and position it over top of some of the parent document elements but, since it's within the iframe, I'm limited to the size of the iframe and positioning is limited to being within the iframe.
