JQuery :: Registering Toggle In An Image?
Jan 5, 2012
I'm trying to register a toggle event in an image. It works fine for the click event like this:
var img = $("<img/>", {
src: "/Content/Images/expand_icon_left.png",
style: "position:absolute;margin-left:" + marginLeft + ";margin-top:10px;",
click: function() { alert("do toggle"); }
});
I want to do the sabe as shown above, but with toggle event instead of click event.That's wahat I've been trying:

This may be a repeat post, but I can't seem to find the answer in these forums. Here is the question: I have a div with id "someDiv". I am obtaining an HTML string via XHR and intend to insert it in the DIV. I use .html(theHtmlString) and it renders just fine. But the newly inserted elements are not in the DOM - either by name or id. How do I register them in jQuery?

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to refer to an object while inside a jquery event function. In the following example, "this" at first is referenced as #myDiv. But inside the draggable event, "this" refers to something else. I am not sure what it is referring to, but how do I reference the original object (Human) from within this event?
var Person = new Human("#myDiv", "my data");
function Human(element, myName) {
this.name = myName;

with this line $('#'+linkID).load('img.php?verzeichnis='+title); images are loaded onlick into a div via the img.php. after this the image tags look like this:
[Code]...
the class small sets the height to 150px. what i want now is to change the image height onclick to 400px. If the image is clicked again, it should be resized back to 150px height. i greated a style called .big with 400px and thought i can toggle the style between big an small. But unfortunately nothing happens it seems the image selector is ignored. maybe somone can help me addressing the images onclick. [URL]

I'm creating a hover effect like this. I have a 6 columns of images. There are 2 images per column stacked on top of each other. Like so:
X X X X X X
X X X X X X
The top row of X's I want to start out as invisible. When you hover over the bottom row of images, the top row fade's in (by toggling the css code opacity from 0 to 100), and then when you mouseover, it fades back out to 0. I'm having trouble setting this up. Here's my HTML:
<div class="carbox" id="box1"><img src="img/impreza2.jpg" class="imgtophidden"/><img src="img/impreza.jpg" class="imgbot" /></div>
<div class="carbox" id="box2"><img src="img/wrx.jpg" class="imgtophidden"/><img src="img/wrx.jpg" class="imgbot" /></div>
<div class="carbox" id="box3"><img src="img/legacy2.jpg" class="imgtophidden"/><img src="img/legacy.jpg" class="imgbot" /></div>

How to do this but still can't figure it out. I'm currently reading jQuery from novice to ninja but I'm no where close to a ninja. I have a div containing list items, a photo, and a plus/minus button at the bottom of the div. The list items are absolutely positioned behind the photo. When I click on the plus button I want it to change to minus and animate the photo 29px from the top revealing the list-items behind it. Then I want to click the minus button changing it back to plus and animating the photo back up to the top.
I'm trying to accomplish something very similar to what you see on Kyanmedia.com. Except their images animate down and up on hover. I want my image to animate down then up on click and toggle the plus/minus image. I'm new to jQuery so I'm having a real hard time trying to figure this out. Everything I've tried doesn't work. The links to Kyan Media to get an idea of what I'm trying to do.

I just started with Jquery:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#desperation input[type=image]').attr('disabled', true).fadeTo
("fast", 0.10);
$('#1').attr('disabled', false).fadeTo("fast", 0.70);
});
$('#1').toggle(
function () {
$('#1').click(function() {
$('#1').fadeTo("fast", 1.00).attr('checked', true);
$('#2').attr('disabled', false);
});},
function () {
$('#1').click(function() {
$('#1').fadeTo("fast", 0.70).attr('checked', false);
$('#2').attr('disabled', true);
});});
</script>
<div id="skill">
<form action="javascript:void(null);" method="post"
enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded" id="skillplanner"
name="skillplanner" >
<fieldset id="desperation"><legend>Freetrader Skills: Desperation</
legend>
<input type="image" src="files/icons/underdog.png" id="1"></input>
<input type="image" src="files/icons/dump_guns.png" id="2"></input>
<input type="image" src="files/icons/desperation_fire.png" id="3"></input>
<input type="image" src="files/icons/rum_ration.png" id="4"></input>
<input type="image" src="files/icons/hasty_fire.png" id="5"></input>
</fieldset></form></div>
The problem is with the toggle function. On click it should "check" clicked one and activate next one. Function doesnt work and I dont have a clue....

I'm building a site that uses some jQuery but at this point I haven't had to get my hands dirty in the code. I'm hoping to get some pointers on how to best approach this problem, or if a plug-in exists to point me that way. I'm anticipating I'll need to build the code though because of the specific nature of the issue. I have a two very complex MySQL data trees that need to cross reference. To handle the cross referencing I simply have a third table that links the ids of the large tables together. That way I can join data via the linking table. This is all working and established. What I need to do is allow the admin user to navigate through one tree from within the context of a particular element from the other tree and click a toggle icon (tick or cross) to create or delete the cross reference in the linking table. Traditionally I would perform this task using forms but I want the user to be able to make these changes on the fly without needing to reload the page. I also want to stop further toggling until the update or delete has been completed.

In part of this project, I am create a dynamic table row that contains a dynamic textbox in one of its cells. When the textbox is created, I try to attach an onkeypress event and it only works in IE. I feel like I'm missing some fundamental piece here, and am pulling my hair out because of it :mad:. I feel like i've tried everything possible to even get firefox to read this code.

my indexof() function is not being recognized when I enter an email address for an unsubscribe form I have on one of my pages. Additionally, the confirmation message is also not showing up when the email address IS valid. Here is my code that I am using on a PHP page:function Unsubscribe() {
var IsValid = document.getElementById("email").value;
alert(IsValid.indexOf("@"));
exit;
[code]....
to those PHP experts, I am aware of the RegEx function for validation, but I don't understand it, which is why I don't use it (in case anyone points that out).The other thing that is problematic is that the PHP code is automatically using HEADER() regardless of "email"'s value

I have an issue with a registration form. What I would like to do is only allow a certain email domain in the 'email' field. Eg. Only allowing @gmail.com email addresses, and all others would receive an error. This is the line of code that I believe needs changing:
function isEmail(valor){if(/^w+([.-]?w+)*@w+([.-]?w+)*(.w{2,4})+$/.test(valor)){return(true)}else{return false;}}
I am not too familiar with this but through my hours of research, I believe that I need to add something to this line.

I'm working on a site now in which I will be toggling a div from visible to hidden every time you click the link. I have successfully done this, and it looks like this Code:
However, as you can see there is a "+" to the left of the title of the button, and i have another GIF that has a minus for when it is closed and the div is hidden. My question is what should I add to my existing code (if possible) to make the image switch to the minus version if the div is hidden. Code:

I want to put a button on a website that when clicked changes the background. The button needs to be an image. For example, click on the image and it makes the background image1 and then click again to switch to background image2. The image/button that is being clicked will be 2 images (one says "turn lights on" then when clicked shows other image "turn lights off")
I have managed to pick up bits of code from the net that change the background and got another code that makes 2 images a toggle button. The button changes the background on the first click but no back again on the second click.

I have this little snippet of code that swaps a toggle image for news for a plus or minus sign showing if the div is open or closed. This code has worked before but i made a couple modifications today and it stopped working unexpectedly and i'm not sure why its failing. I am presetting the div tag with a plus sign with css and then modifying it with javascript. The problem i am having is that when the div tag has been opened it does not swap the image to min.gif anylonger. It remains max.gif.

here is my scenario:
I have a link and a div on a webpage. With the link I want to toggle the content (HTML) of the div. On toggle, I want to load the content from a PHP-file and I want it to load on the toggle, not when the webpage originally loaded (to reduce loading time on the webpage itself).
The file that is loaded on toggle doesn't have to be PHP, but it would help a lot.
