JQuery :: IE 9 (beta) Displays Error With 1.5.min.js
Feb 2, 2011
I'm not sure that this is a unsupported feature of IE 9 or something else.
While updating my code with newly released jQuery 1.5 IE 9 (beta) shows an error - SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support this property or method.
$(document).ready(function () {
$("<div><p>Hello</p></div>").appendTo("body");
});

Cycle and Superfish. I have just tested my site [URL] on IE9beta. and discovered that the superfish dropdown menus are hidden by the cycle slideshow. I clicked the Compatability button - still the same - then clicked it again. Problem has now gone away.

I've added file upload support to the form plugin and I could use some help testing it out.If this feature interests you then go ahead and grab the beta plugin at:URL...File upload support is baked right into the plugin and there are no external dependencies.The plugin will automatically detect file input elements and use an iframe to submit the form if there are files to be uploaded.No extra coding or metadata is needed to take advantage of this new feature.In addition, even though an iframe is used instead of the XHR object, callbacks and global triggers still work as expected (so any code that you have in place to display activity indicators or blocking elements will still work).However, there are some challenges when using iframes in this manner.For one, it is quite difficult to determine if the submit operation succeeded or failed.The iframe becomes the target of the submit operation and so that is where the server response is written.The form plugin does its best to determine the data type (html, xml, etc),but the status is always 'success' unless an exception is caught during the type determination.URL...
If you use this page for testing *please* be kind to my server and only upload small files! I'd really prefer that you download the plugin and integrate it into your own test environment if possible.I've done some testing on FF, IE and Opera and the results are encouraging. I don't have access to Safari so I'm sure there are issues lurking for that platform.If you're interested in the code you can find it all tucked into the end of the ajaxSubmit method in a function called "fileUpload".

If you've played around with Yahoo's new Beat email interface you'll notice that they now have adjustable columns to reveal the from, subject, date, size information. This is also found in Outlook and all windows OS. Placing your cursor between two columns allows you to move a column left or right to reveal content of each row.
Does anyone know how this is done? I have not seen it anywhere else on the internet, but in Yahoo's beta email.

I recently made a simple tool that opens a website in an iFrame and tells the user how long the page took to load. I made it out of a premade stopwatch
When i run the test in most browsers (Chrome, Firefox 3.6 and older, IE) it works fine with the output textbox going from "Please run the test" to "Test Running" to [TIME TAKEN FOR PAGE TO LOAD] but in firefox 3.7 (Minefield) it goes from "Please run the test" to "0" every time and the page in the iFrame doesn't load.
I've read that Firefox 3.7 has a new Javascript Engine
The test is at [URL] and the problem code is on THIS PAGE (Use View Source in your browser)

I have two grids, they both display buttons. One grid displays numbers, true or false and yes or no, and the other grid displays letters, true, false, yes and no.
The second grid is not displayed in the code (used css to not display second grid buttons (.answerBtns)) Now using the getButtons() function, if the user selects button "1" in first grid (the grid which you have to open using (Open Grid) link, then it should display button "A" in second grid, if user selects button "2" in first grid, then it should displays buttons "A" and "B" in second grid, if "3" then display "A", "B" and "C" and so on.
Now except using if statements and stating which buttons should be displayed and not displayed depending on the button chosen in first grid, is there a more efficent way of coding this so that the display of buttons in second grid depends on what is selected in the first grid?
If it is using an array can somebody show a sample of this in their answer. You can just do it for one example and then I should be able to use that to fill it for the other buttons.

I'm trying to use the Cluetip plugin to display data on mouseover ofthe tr tag. The data displayed is stored in the title attribute. Itworks great in FireFox, but in IE7 the browsers default title displaysalong with the Cluetip. Am I missing an option that would allowCluetip to override the browsers default title display?
$('tr.toolTipTitle').cluetip({

the id of the div depends on the post id of the result. How do I put the data of $row['post_id'] in my javascript?

I am using jquery xslt plugin and the problem I am having is that when I perform xslt i.e $('#outputDiv').xslt('PPPoE.xml','PPPoE.xsl'); </b> the browser continues execution of the lines following this line(ie xslt line) and when the execution is finished it displays the xslt result.
I want that the xslt to be performed at the time of call and not at the last, since eqCol() method is called and it adjusts the height of #rightCol making the output half visible. I can set the height of #outputDiv to some fixed value but I am trying to avoid hardcoded values.
I want XSLT to be finished before it reaches 'break'. Have tried using timer but browser still displays the result at the end of execution.

I am using the following JQuery function to rotate content on my webpage on page refresh. It works perfectly, but all items are displayed while the page is loading before they are hidden. It looks a little odd from the user's point of view as they see all items and then they disappear. how I can make it hide all rotating content while the page loads - then just display the correct content once page has loaded?
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".rcontent").hide();
var randNum = (Math.floor(Math.random() * 2))+1;

I have been working on a dropdown menu using Clarklab's Tutorial:The only problem is that this tutorial only shows how to create one dropdown instance.It's in use here:My issue is that when I click on one menu item, all the submenus open up. Is there a simple fix that I just haven't figured out yet?My instinct is to give each ul it's own id, but I'm not sure how to direct the jquery in the header to work with individual elements.

I encountered a possible blockUI bug in IE7 and IE8: If you block theui and don't move your mouse after that, the cursor displays thehourglass symbol UNTIL you move your mouse again.Thus, the .unblock() method doesn't have the desired effect on themouse cursor.You can easily reproduce the effect with the blockUI demos: just clickon the "Run" Button without moving your mouse further.

I want to have a jquery modal window which displays automatically when a user visits the site (preferably at any page). This modal window would then contain a disclaimer message with an 'OK' button to acknowledge the user has read the disclaimer. When the OK button is pressed, the modal window closes and the user is free to browse the rest of the site - the modal window would not display again on any other page, nor if the user visits the site at another time. Now, in theory, I know I need some code for a jquery window that automatically displays, and then have to set a cookie to ensure that the browser doesn't display it again, but I'm just not sure which is the best method to go about it.

i've got a .net page with a table sitting in it that has no specified height.
I want to be able to grab the height of a specific table (ID="printIntro"). Firefox spits out a number, but IE regardless of version spits out a big fat 0.
from what i understood, IE should be able to understand offsetheight, no?
here's a snippet of a VERY simplified version of what .net generates, as you will see IE will return 0: Code:

I am working with the "sexy alert box" found here [URL] and have the code below, which pops up the sexy alert box on every page load.
<script type="text/javascript">
function test() {
Sexy.alert('Hello world!');
}
window.onload=test;
</script>
My problem is that I only want that code to show on the FIRST load for the user and every page after that it should not be showing. This will be the first time I've worked with cookies so I am a bit confused as to what to do with this code and where to edit things.
