JQuery :: Group Validation Messages Dynamic Fields
Dec 21, 2010
I have a form with dynamic fields. Each set of new fields contains two fields that are required. I validate them by using a class. The downside is that if you have 3 lines of fieldsets you get 6 validation errors if you leave them empty. Is there any way to "group" these messages? The fieldsets contain a from and to date. So if you leave them empty you get a message "Check from fields" ?
I will like to know if there is anyway to view all the rules that I have currently in the Jquery validation plugin. Currently, I am trying to add in rules dynamically through the rules(add) function after adding some dynamic fields through the user inputs. the rules are added in this manner.
I am trying to display validation error messages when form validation fails. Currently it does display the error messages but then disappears straight away. How can I stop the page from refreshing when validation fails? I have return false in my code when validation fails but still having same problem. Currently I have only done the validation for the full name only. The error msg is showed in:
I have a formdivided into 2 fieldsets (see the image) : MASTER and DETAIL. When I press Add in the DETAIL fieldset a new item is added to an array where I store temporarly the data entered trough the DETAIL inputs and finally when I press save I send both the MASTER and DETAIL (the temporary array shown in the html table) data to the server. As you may have already noticed, I need to validate both MASTER an DETAIL, but I don't want the Save button to fire the DETAIL validation or the Add link to fire the MASTER validation. I've been googling for a while and though I couldn't find exactly what I've been looking for, I found that it's possible to add/remove a class (e.g, required, number); that gave me some ideas on how to simulate validation groups and here's the code:
<script> $ ( document
[Code]...
Although this code allow me to stop the MASTER validation from firing when I press Add( and DETAIL validation when I click Save), I still can't manage to insert a new DETAIL if only if all of the inputs in the DETAIL fieldset are valid and, what's more I don't want the Add link to cause a form submission.
I am trying to fadeIn error message received from the server.Here is the code:$("#" + RowID + "> TD:nth-child(4)").append("<err class='error'>" + err.Message + "</err>").fadeIn(1000);But the fadeIn() does not seem to work, it shows the message straight away ..off courseI am missingsomethinghere, probably the append() and fadeIn() do not go hand in hand.
I'm using validation plug-in in our application for customers fromRussia. I need to set russian messages for all customers from allplaces in the world. How can i do that? Messages are in "localzation/
I'm trying to change the default required field message in the validation plugin from "This field is required" to simply "Required". I tried to do so like this:
[Code]...
but this isn't working. I'd prefer not to edit the actual code to change the message, although that is an option (but one that would mean constantly updating the message when the validation code is downloaded once again).
It works fine, but I'm trying to hide the error messages which it defaults to "This field is required." The error message shows up in a label.. How in the world do I hide those error messages within those labels?
I'm a newby who has manage to get up and running rather quickly and with ease using the documentation. My form validates as expected but it shows the default error messages and highlights the invalid fields. How can I suppress the error messages?
I'm using the form validation and it's working great. But the form reset button, although it clears the form fields, does not clear the errors. My page header has this code so far:
[Code]....
I'm trying to understand how to implement the following in order for the reset button to do that:
var validator = $("#myform").validate(); validator.resetForm();
I'm not an experienced JS person but have a lot of other programming experience (vb, vba, mssql, delphi).
I'm using this great plugin, but the prob for me is that all error messages have the same class added to them. due to the layout of my form, i need to be able to move some of the error messages around in diff ways. there is a way to add a diff error class to elements based on their id or class or whatever, but not sure how to do so.
For some reason when I try to submit my form in IE8 it doesn't get past the radio group.It keeps asking me to select an age even after one has been selected. Validation works but it's not picking up that I have selected one of the items within the group.
How can I do validation on a group of input fields, as long as one of the 3 fields have a value then it's valid,I've managed to group them, but it's showing up with 3 error messages instead of one. How can I get it to display just the one error msg for all 3 input fields?
I'm using the jQuery form validation plugin along with the fileinput plugin which hides the initial input area, but uses <divs> and some styling /javascript to show the file input field.The issue I am having, is that the 'this field is required' text that is meant to show on submission, doesn't come up for the file input field, nor some checkboxes that I have in a table. I am guessing that this is because the code is needing the label to be RIGHT next to the element (in this case the file input or the checkbox) in order for the validation message to show..Are there any work arounds that anyone knows of so that I can get the error message to show?Is there a way to show the error message for required fields when they have a div wrapping them or anything wrapping them? [code]
I want to display validation messages in a callout image like we display msgs in alert box function provided by the javascript. means for eg. if user doesn't enter a value in a field then i want to display msg like 'Field is required' in the popup callout image above the field itself.
I am developing a messaging service between members of my site. I am developing this with asp.net mvc. When a user goes to the SendMessage view to send a message to another member, there is a dropdown list which presents the sender with all the members of the site, which he or she will pick as the recipient. However, i don't want it to be a dropdown, i want it to be a text box, where a user types in the first couple of letters of a name, and the dropdown appears then with only the members which have the same couple of letters. This is basically like every email system out there (facebook and gmail have it just like that). And after they chose one, they can select another one in the same textbox, just separated by a comma or something like that. Basically, how do i achieve that in javascript? I'm not even sure what that functionality is called, that's why i had to explain it properly.
I'm working on validating radio buttons in a form. I want to require that a button be selected from required radio button groups before accepting the submit. Not all the radio button groups are required to have a selection.
One problem I'm having is that I can't return the name of the radio button group. I want to switch case on the name of the radio button group.
I do have an id for each individual radio button, so I can confirm that the for loops are working, but my alert tells me that radiogroups[j] is an [object] and radiogroups[j].name is undefined.
And there is a problem with the logic, too. If just one of the radio button sets is checked, the form validates. Code:
There are two input fields in a form, but only one of them is required, they are not required at the same time. Either A or B is required. ( A is required OR B is required). In other words, a user can input data to field A, or he can input data to filed B, but he can not input data to Both A and B at the same time. How to implement this constraint in Jquery form validation?
I've an input field in the form which is displayed based on the user selection. Initially it is set to 'display:none' and I do have a validation rule for that field.
How do I skip validation on this hidden input field and only validate when its displayed on the page.
I've started using jquery validation on my forms. Often, I need to pre-process a field before I want to validate it. For example, if someoneforgets to prefix http:// before an url, I can just do that, instead of returning error messages. Or sometimes, a field needs to be lowercased and I can just do that, too. I've found ways to do that, but it feels like a hack. Am I missing a feature ?
I have a large form. One part of it is a column with selects. All drop-downs initially set to "No". The only other option is "yes". I need to make sure that at least one select is set to "yes". Any number, even all of them can be changed to "yes", but only one is required. I can easily add a rule that requires all the fields of the certain class to have certain type of value, but can't think of a way in js to only have one required. I can easily count number of "yes" values with PHP and prevent submitting on the back end, but would really like to have jquery do it first.
Basically I'm using the plugin to validate a form. I've got the basics set up and working. Now I'm trying to use remote so that I can check for a duplicate email address. The problem is as soon as I add my checking script the validation stops working on the email field completely. It constantly says "please enter a valid email address" no matter what I put in the field. If I don't have the remote bit in my code the email field validation works correctly. Here is my site: [URL].
This is my code: login.js $(document).ready(function(){ $('#content form').validate({ rules: { title:{ required: true }, name: { .....
the validator plugin for jquery is really cool, but i need the possibility to also mark a field as valid (not only disappear the invalid message), a simple "is valid" label would be sufficient..i tried to change the sources, but that seems rather complicated
