I want to create a pop-up windows that display (when website has finished loading), while the main page blurs behind the pop-up windows. something similar to those amazing jquery gallery stuff, but i want the new window to display another image or page?

I'd like to create a pop-up window for my site. I've used behaviors in the past. I'm not sure if that's the best way now. Basiclly I have a photo gallery with thumbnails. Once you click the thumbnail I want a larger window to open with the image. I've seen the javascript windows used that use CSS lightbox, however I can't get it to work with my site. I guess I should mention I'm using asp vbscript ,ms sql database with a link to the image paths that are sitting in the images folder.

Suppose I have multiple pages, and one javascript file (the js file is available to all pages). Using a javascript function I open a new window from first page. Script looks like this:

What I would like to do is close this window as soon as other pages load. Suppose user clicks a menu and that load a new page. But I would like to close the child window after the 2nd page load. Is it possible to close the window in the second page with the name (using the same java script, or may be use another java script)?

I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link.
I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code.
So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have:
Does calling code from a .js file 50 times slow down the page load? Which method would load faster?
Is it faster/more beneficial to have two snippets of code be generated by php at 2 different urls and then have a load function for each url? Or have the two snippets on one page, surrounded by id's and then load them that way?

Sometimes it doesn't fully execute for the user because they close or click onto another page before the javascript is completely done. Is there anyway I can let all of the javascript load first and slow down the actual page load of the website.

The first time it loads very fast, 12ms.
I have a close buttons wich removes the element from dom: $("#element").fadeOut('fast').empty().remove();
The second time I execute the onclick event, the first code takes approx 1 second, so much slower. The php code execution time is the same as previously.
I use jQuery load function to load another page into part ofcurrent page in asp.net. it is work correctly but insecond page i haveone instance ofCKEditor that is not loaded in first page after use load function.

I am trying to create portlets that dynamically load their content (usinq jQuery). My first approach was to leave the header + footer + decorations of the portlet OUTSIDE of the dynamically loadable content. It worked just fine but I had to abandon that approach so that I could use the same code both for statically- and dynamically-loaded content (e.g. when no AJAX support was available). So far so good.
Now to my problem: I use the following code for loading my dynamic content
The loading works fine, but after the dynamic content has been loaded I can not seem to get access to it using jQuery!
Short description: Line 3 clears the content (I know! There are better solutions!) Line 4 loads the content Line 6 dumps the data on the console; this is for debuging only, so that I can establish that the correct content is loaded
After the data is properly loaded I did expect to be able to find it by traversing the DOM tree in traditional jQuery fashion (like in Line 10). However, dumping the contents of the 'tag' shows it containing no content at all; it is empty even though the browser renders the expected new result. I thought: Well! The browser holds two copies of the DOM tree; one that is the original page and one that is the modified content used for rendering". Therefore I attempted to manipulate the loaded content within the function (Line 8). The content is visible there, that I have established in Line 6. But I do not know how to access it jQuery-style.
(Why am I trying to modify the loaded content? I want to inject a title row with various decorations and clickable content.)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am creating an admin in ColdFusion and am trying to add a feature where when the user clicks the "edit" button for something, a modal window will pop up which contains a form (loaded from an external file) that when the user submits it, it's an AJAX submit and then the modal window closes and fires off a function that updates the display page. I am using SimpleModal [URL] and I managed to load an external form file into the modal window using $.get but then I can't figure out how to get that form that loads in the modal window to submit via AJAX instead of the default form post that happens. I need to submit their data via AJAX and then if successful, close the window and do the update function on the display. Has anyone already done this?

In some browsers it works fine, but in others it seems not tofire because the page has already finished loading by the time thecode is run.Is there any way to check and see if the page has already finishedloading?Since it is a dynamically inserted script I don't have access to theonload event of the original document (aside from altering it via theloaded script - but that would seem to present the same problem).

I am currently using document.ready but this runs effect as soon as DOM is loaded even if images that related effect not loaded yet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with the status bar in Mozilla and Netscape showing that
it is still waiting on the page to load even after it is finished. This
problem does NOT occur with IE.
In summary, I am using a onLoad event in the BODY tag to communicate back to
another server each time a page finishes loading. I do this by using a "new
Image()" and setting the .src property to the server. The .src includes a
value in the querystring so I know what request it was that finished
loading.
The challenge here is that the status bar still shows "Transferring data
from www.mysite.com..." despite the image being loaded. It never clears and
leaves the user with the impression that there was a problem loading the
page. My web server logs at the mysite.com show that the browser does
indeed make a request for the image and I get the querystring just fine and
it returns a status of 200 so the image is being found and served ok.
I've tried everything I can think of to solve this and really could use your
help please. Bottom line is that if you use the "new Image" statment from
within the OnLoad event of the Body tag, Netscape and Mozilla never seem to
update the status bar to show "Done" despite it succesfully loading the
image.
