View 2 RepliesThe function "setEqualHeight" fires on document ready and works well. It sets two columns to equal height. The problem is that I have tabs and accordions in the columns and therefore need to recalculate the column heights after the document is loaded: I try on click but nothing happens. Why?
This works fine:
This does'nt work:
I have the following HTML:
<div class="content"><button class="showalert">Show Alert</button></div>
<button class="blaat">Test button</button>
With this jQuery code:
$('.blaat').click(function() {
$('.showalert').replaceWith('<button class="showalert" name="test">Show NewAlert</button>');
});

I've got an image for the Name & Email field in a form I've made. On click, I've got the images fade out, and replaced with the text field. The problem I have, is having the cursor go in the text field. I know it works if the text field was there when I click on it, but because clicking causes an event to put it in, it does't act like I clicked on the text field. So what I'm looking to do is at the end of the replaceWith(#name_field), I want it to simulate a click so that the cursor would automatically be in there.
Here is my js...
$("#name_img").click ->
$(this).fadeOut("slow").replaceWith $("#name_form")
$("#name_form").fadeIn "slow"
I've set up two buttons to dynamically load in content. However for some reason the content only loads on the first time you click a button. The transition function does receive the correct variables however. The fade0ut animation also doesn't take affect whilst the replaceWith() function is inside the transition function.

I want to execute a function, when a user clicks on a certain button on my page. It works in Chrome, Safari, Opera and FF, but not in IE 9. The jquery-Code looks like this:
$('#mapButton').click(function(event){ ... });
My HTML source code:
<div id="medias">
<div>AUDIO<br /><p id="audioButton"></p></div>
<div>KARTE<br /><p id="mapButton"></p></div>
<div>BILDER<br /><p id="galleryButton"></p></div>
<br style="clear:both"/>
</div>
By Clicking on mapButton the function should follow. I tried it first with the input-Tag, then with the a-Tag and afterwards with the p-Tag. Nothing works at all. I also inserted a return false at the end of my JS function. How to handle it?
I'm new to jQuery. I'm writing some code to show a picture if user clicks on table row. This is the table
<table id="restable" border="0">
<thead><tr>
<th class="cat" width="150"><a href="">Category</a></th>
<th class="brand" width="150"><a href="">Brand</a></th>
<th class="name" width="300"><a href="">Name</a></th>
<th class="weight" width="50"><a href="">Weight</a></th>
</tr></thead>
<tbody id="table">
</tbody>
</table>
The table is filled with this function
function search(sortt,dirt) {
$.getJSON("/jsonsearch.php", {cat: $("select#catselect").val(), brand:
$("select#brandselect").val(), name: $("input#search").val(), sort:
sortt, dir: dirt}, function(j){
$("tbody#table").empty();
var row='';
for (var i = 0; i < j.length; i++) {
row="<tr><td width='150'>"+j[i].cats+"</td><td width='150'>"+j
[i].brand+"</td><td class='name' width='300'>"+j[i].name+"</td><td
width='50'>"+j[i].weight+"</td></tr>";
$("#restable tbody").append(row);
}})
This is the function I put inside $(document).ready()
$("#table td").click(function(){
alert("jhgjgh");
});
The problem is that click event doesn't fire. If I get it working, how do I get the contents of the row that user clicked. I need Name from that row.
I'm confused as to why when I have:
$('a').click(function(){
alert(this);
return false;
[code]....
The Problem: So a user clicks on "web development" for example. This triggers the mousedown function correctly. The user then clicks on "web development" again. This no longer triggers the mousedown event. BUT if you move the mouse around or click a different link it will trigger the function correctly.
The HTML:
<body>
<div id="animate-top"> </div>
<div id="wrapper"><a href="#" class="menu">Graphic Design</a><a href="#" class="menu">Web
Development</a><a href="#" class="menu">Contact Us</a></div>
</body>
The Javascript:
$("a").mousedown(function () {
if (topvisable == 0){topvisable = 1;
$("#animate-top").slideUp('slow');
} else {topvisable = 0;
$("#animate-top").slideDown('slow').delay(1000).slideUp('slow');
}
return false;
});
I have a class hidden by default at the document ready state. I use the show() function when its parent has been clicked and I want to be able to apply a click function to this newly visible element - when I write it I am finding that it is overriding the initial hide(). How do I work around this? I should say that this element is just a bit of text that says "close x" and will be used to "close" its parent div down...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Table sorter to sort the table. I need sort to work only if i click explicitly on header sort image, not on headers. I am using dynamic column width on headers and whenever the colum is resizing the table sorter is getting called unnecessarily because the click event is getting fired on the header. Do i need to change the $headers.click call in jquery.tablesorter.js page?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a dropdown menu using jquery. So when I hover over a button it slides down the menu. Now if I move the mouse out of the menu and bring it back in before it slides up(menu has a lot of items so there is enough time to bring the mouse back in on the menu)over the dropdown menu it starts a chain of slideDown() and slideUp() functions and it does not stop till I move the mouse of the menu or back on the button. Below is my jquery code:

I've found a few posts on adding an event to a dynamic element, but that doesn't really help me. What I'm doing is allowing the user to add a textbox, then when a button is clicked i need to find the value for that text box, but it doesn't seem to pick up that the textbox is there.
Oh and that textbox is part of an array of textboxes, all of whose values i need.
I have a jQuery plugin that creates a list of news items and appends the <ul> to the element(s) calling the plugin. Each <li> gets a document key added to its data.
A brief snippet of the code:
(function
($){
$.fn.NewsList=function
(options){
[Code].....
None of the <li>'s have the data attached to them. I've tested the selector shown above in line 3, and it does pick up the correct <li>'s. The data is not visible in Firebug as it is on the other page. Both functions are called after document.ready and insert the elements after page load.
The onlydiscernible differences between these two circumstances is that in the working case, the plugin is called against an ID, whereas in the nonworking instance, it is called against a CLASS. In addition, in the working case, only one DIV is affected, and in the nonworking case, there are two DIVs that receive the treatment.
I have the following html:
<div id = "container"></div>
<div id = 'containerItemTmplt' class = "ui-widget-content">
<div class='contentHdr' onclick="test(this)" />
</div>
i then use jquery to clone 'containerItemTmplt' and add it to 'container':
var copiedElem = $('#containerItemTmplt').clone(true).
.attr('id', 'paneI1')
.appendTo('#container');
This works great and i confirm using I.E. 9's developer's tool utility that the element was indeed added with the correct id as a child of 'container'.
However in my test method, when i inspect the element that was copied, the id attribute is an empty string:
function test(elem)
{
var parentItem= $(elem).closest('div')[0];
alert(parentItem.id); //<--this displays an empty string despite
}
I need to send the tab to a particular text box when it tabs out of another textbox. I need to handle a function in which I could set the focus into the desired textbox. But I am not able to get to my function when the tab out happens. How can this be done?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on creating a little suggestion/autocomplete code for form fields.[code]...
Everything works fine and when I click on the text Foo the form field value is set to foo. But, when I try clicking on a word added to the page by the keyup part of my code above it doesn't work.
I am registering the ondrag event handler on mousedown event as follows:
But the drag event fires only if I select the entrie Td with mouse and not when right click over td and try to drag. My browser is mozila.
In my application I render a couple of elements dynamically after the user selects an option in a dropdown list. When the user selects another option in the dropdown, I want to remove all the previous elements that was added dynamically. I've tried with the .Remove() function, but it seems the elements cannot be found in the DOM. I've looked a lot at the .live() events. Does anyone now how I can solve this?

I'm new to JavaScript and I wrote this code to play with. Oddly, if I
enter text in a box and then press the button, I only get the onChange
event for the text box and not the button's onclick event. But if I
press the button without entering text first, the button click event
does work. What's up?

Above code does not fire anchorClicked event.
I have a page with a form, that represent questions and the corresponding answers.I defined the minimum questions, answers, and their maximum.So I added a link in the form to add question (along with the minimum amount of answers), and a link per question to add an answer in it.the "click" event for my links is like:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".addquestion").click(function(event){...});
$(".addanswer").click(function(event){alert("addanswer");...});
});
the code look more like JS, but basically it.adds the html code in the corresponding divs.The problem is the following: if I add a question, it also add a link to add answers to this question, but this link does not fire the event.Did I miss something to add to make it work?I mean the link in html page is exactly the same, I even tried not
changing the part with the int, it still doesn't work.
i know there is live() event to make newly added element to be able to run a function, but that only apply to some mouse event.i use this tipsy plugin to show tips everytime on an image. my image can be changed by uploading new image. but the new image wont have the tips showing created by the tipsy().$("#photo").tipsy();
