JQuery :: CSS File Based On Browser Type?
Dec 12, 2011
Is there a way I can use a css file based on browser type.
For instance, if it's a webkit browser can I download/use a css3 css file and if it's a IE browser type use the non-css3 css file and use it ?

I have some code that performs differently in Opera than it does in any other browser. So I have a stylesheet specifically for opera. Is there a way to do something like this, where I check the browser, and if it's not opera, then load the default sheet, otherwise load the opera-specific css?

As of this writing, that code seems to break my page, as if it doesn't like loading a sheet based on an if/else clause.

I have a website with a lot of jQuery effects and functions which is not working properly under Internet explorer 8 and below, it works excellent on Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari however, I'm planning to make a light version of the website for Internet explorer, is there a way to verify browser type and version and redirect the user either to the light or normal version of the site according to those parameters?

On my site i use a lot of features that are unsupported by older browsers, and right now it looks pretty stupid when the features are only partially shown. So i was wondering if there's a way of making the browser look to different css files depending on which browser and version it is. For example, css3 gradient backgrounds are supported in firefox 3.6 or something, but not in 3.0. All the hacks out there is to 3.*, so it changes for the allready working 3.6 too if i hack it. I want to controll it so that i have a specific css file for the none-supporting version and lower and one for the supporting and above. I looked at a bad browser plugin (because it has some of the basic features im looking for)

I've been using the form plugin to process some data in a form and was working perfectly until I added a new input (type="file") to upload images, for some reason now the plugin wont go past the beforeSubmit: section, the weird thing is that if I change the field type to text it works perfectly. Is it something I'm doing wrong? Or do I have to do something else with file type fields?

I'm apparently misunderstanding what I'm reading on prototyping. My main task is to squeeze some performance out of an app that's a bit slow on IE, and it looks like large Arrays and their overhead may be part of the problem. I'm trying to replace those with my own array type based on Object and extend it with helper functions like .length. Here's a munged sample of what I've tried:

I know that the input "file" type can't be customized very well using css, so I figured I might try to make my own with javascript. The only problem is, I don't know too much about javascript. point me in the right direction on how to make my own custom file upload box in javascript that works the same way as the default one works (so I don't have to edit my PHP coding). Also, heres something I'd like to achieve: [URL]

i noticed today that if i type in my js file name in the url i get a download box, i have an htaccess on my site so this should not be happening, thats another issue.. my question is, is there a trick to creating a js file that cant be accessed in this manner, i was thinking about adding a php define statement as it comes from one source only, but i wanted to ask first to see if there was something on the js side i could do or is that strictly a htaccess or server side issue..
