JQuery :: 1.4 Multiple Bind Syntax With Live?

I am in the process of porting an application i have been building for a couple of years to jQuery from jquery/prototypejs&scriptaculous.
Reading the new documentation i see that bind can take multiple observers (for example)
$(
"div.test"
)
.bind
(
[Code].....
Is this also true with "live" ( i am adding alot of dynamic elements to a page that have tooltips attached to them and have written a simple tooltip plugin that uses live to stop me constantly needing to call the plugin everytime somehting on the page changes to do with the tooltip..

I have this odd situation in which a function receives an element that needs some cleanup; all events to which it is bind to should be removed
Unfortunately, I don't know if the events are bind using 'bind' or 'live'
Is it possible to use find this out somehow using only this element ?

I use the live - method to bind a handler to a click-event for all links with class "userDiv"
When I DON'T use this and use instead the "normal" click handler
I can still use the middle Mouse-Button in Firefox to open the link in a new tab without any jquery-stuff
But when I use the live-method (and it would be nice to use it) the middle Mouse-Button behaves like the left one.

Im working on a ajax app and not sure what is the best way to bind events to elements (performance wise).I have a number of elements with 'click', 'focus', 'keydown' events which can be assigned though the delegate to the parent, like so:$('#parent').delegate('#child', 'click', func.....)but is it better to add a delegate to the 'document' for multiple events and use IF statement to filter for elements which should fire an event, like so:[code]Each element can be replaced with an updated version retrieved from the server.

I have 2 or more objects that onclick(), will call the same function. Right now I have the following:

$("#obj1").change( function() {
setupPage();
});
$("#obj2").change( function() {

I was wondering if there is a way to simplify or clean up the code, since they are all doing the same thing and responding to the same event. This is just for refactoring reasons because my code is getting too long/messy.

I have a problem when I use the .live() function that I can't figure out. It's something I've run across several times and it keeps confusing me.
My jQuery:
jQuery('#content div.portfolio').live({
mouseover: function(){
jQuery(this).find('img').fadeOut();

My problem is: when the mouse enters and leaves the image the image fades in and out for up to four times. The first mouseenter is just fadeout, fadein, fadeout. why is the event being triggered multiple times and more importantly what can I do to prevent this behavior?

I am using JQuery 1.4.1. I have HTML input elements which created dynamically. I have assigned "focusin" event all input elements. While loading page, it is triggers only once while focusing each input element. When I minimize and maximize the page, focus event is fired multiple times. Finally it show "Stack overflow at line 0".

I am having a problem changing the color of 2 differnt table cells when
mouseing over of 1cell. The issue is I want to change the bgcolor of my cell
that I am mouseing over as well as an adjacent cell, but not the whole row.
The script changes only one, whichever the 1st one is and does not execute
the 2nd mouseover, it is probably a syntax problem but I was wondering if
anyone had any ideas

is there a way in jQuery to bind variables to function calls similar as prototype.js does it? See [URL]
E.g. in the slideUp method of jQuery you can specify a callback that is called after the effect has finished. I would like to bind a variable to this call so that it is used inside of this callback as a closure.

When the window loads, I want a function to check all text fields with a certain class if there is a value. If there is no value in the text field the value 0 will be set to the field. So far this is my code, but it does not work:

I'm attempting to bind an event to a combo box, so that when a value is selected I can kick off a function. I cannot seem to bind an event successfully. I have looked at the .select event and tried it, and perhaps I don't understand how this code is to be used:

Do I need to add both of these? Just one? I've found the place in the combobox code where the underlying select box changes, but I don't want to hack at this code. I'd be happy to look at a successful implementation.

Im working on a Grid system, which has the following features: On tr hover I have added a click event, which triggers an edit mode When switching to edit mode, the click event is unbind, so that one cannot edit multiple rows simultaniously After update, I'd like to re-bind the previous click functionality. However, I cant seem to do that. My code either does nothing, or Im getting an Jquery error below. Trying to define the original click event again does not work either. So what am I missing here? How can I re-bind an un-bind event ? Or can I?
