I have a web site written in html. I want to have a warning message in my web page saying they are not allowed to copy any of my data. Also, if they do copy, how can i tell who copied my data?

I have a series of elements on the page that have been assigned anonymous functions as a user works with them. At a certain point I would like to take a element and all of its children and copy them from their current location and into a newly created element. Then remove original version and all its children.
I have done the above by using innerHTML to copy the element and its children to a temp variable.. problem is that I think my copy has lost all these anonymous function that was assigned to the original version. Has anyone ever faces the problem of trying to copy a series of elements and losing their anonymous assigned functions in the copied version? If so whats the work around on this?

If I copy a fairly large chunk of text from this website, like a sentence, then somehow they are able to include the website's URL as well in the copied text. How do they do this? I assume it uses JS to achieve this. [URL]

A while ago I queried how to count total characters in an output document and never really got anywhere. this query builds on from that. basically what I need to do is as follows.
- Using a basic input form, gather information.
- Populate strDoc with the info.
- When the button is clicked, the strDoc is populated and formatted and displayed in a popup window using:
What I'm trying to do is create a function that will count all characters in the strDoc (including spaces/LF/CR etc). If the total of the output doc is > 3800 characters, then the function will separate the doc into chunks no greater than 3800 characters and display each chunk in either a different window or a single window labled in order of chunk (ie. 1, 2 or 3).
This is way beyond me at this stage, but is critical to a project I'm working on at the moment.

why the iFrame resize code would stop working when I copy the code over to another page? It works fine here: [URL]... But when I copy the code over to another page (www.rjt-online.com/video.php) in it's entirity, and just change the urls, it stops working?

I'm having a problem with copying text into the # code window. When I select the code that I want to copy, after opening the code window, I can only paste the code line by line instead of pasting the entire block of code. I can copy the entire block into word/notepad. Is there a technical issue preventing this from working?

I currently have some buttons representing letters and a textbox. When a button is clicked, its value is copied into the text box. I have an onkeyup event which means that every time a button is clicked, a function is called which searches some arrays using the current text box value.
However, the problem I am currently having is that the onkeyup event which calls the function works if I type the value in using my computer keyboard, but not when using the buttons (even though the buttons enter values into the textbox).
How I can make it so that when I press a button, the onkeyup event triggers and the function is called?

I am using .ajax() to access cross-domain data using JSONP. Because I need to be able to cache the data I want to use a static name for thejsonpCallback function, so I have set the jsonpCallback option in the .ajax() request. However that appears to requires a global function whereas the auto generated function didn't (well maybe it did but that was all hidden from me).
I definitely need to be able to cache the results. Ideally I wouldn't have a global function handling the data. Is there another way to do this? If not what is the best practice way to go about using a global function these days and how do I provide it with the context of the object/module it was called from - which is where the data is needed?

Relatively new to jQuery but have a problem with getting data to display.Using a webform with 2 forms. User slects and inputs data into the first form, clicks a button then using jQuery .ajax submits the serialized data to a php script. The script processes the input into multiple paragraphs of text which is based on the input from the first form.The data is returned to the webpage and displayed in a text area (of the 2nd form) where the user can edit it to fine tune the wording. The 2 forms are displayed in different tabs so it is easy to move back and forward between the 2 forms.
The problem occurs when the user goes back to the first form and enters or selects different text and then click the submit button to generate a whole new text for insertion into the textarea on the second form. For certain fields the modified text is displayed.However if the whole of the text in the textarea is deleted, then the user clicks the submit button to re-generate the text content area then nothing at all is ever interted into the textarea. If have user alert to check that data is returned from the php handler and this text is correct. BUT when I click on the tab to see the textarea (id is "draftrec") there is no text inserted. The relevant function is below and the line that should insert the text into the textarea is:
$("textarea#draftrec").html(data).show();
//------------------------------------------------------
$("form#form1").submit(function(e){

I am still new to jQuery and I am trying to figure something out. I have this code:
[Code]...
This is working fine on itself. What is does is when I click a link it loads data into the following div. When done loading it slides out. But I want to change the appearance of the slide. I have tried to do that like this: $(this).show("slide", { direction: "down" }, 1000); But this doesn't work. When I check firebug it says the following: o.easing[this.options.easing || (o.easing.swing ? "swing" : "linear")] is not a function

I am trying to try jQuery 1.4.3 updated .data() method with HTML5 data attributes. The way I understood these changes is that an element with these attributes would automatically have their data populated by .data(). For example, if I have an element:
<ahref="#" data-cheese="cheddar">DataElement</a>
I can access this with .data('cheddar'). This part works fine. The issue I am having is that calling JUST data like $(this).data() just produces an empty object. Is this how it should be expected to function?

I'm trying to compare incoming JSON data to the existing data to see if there are any changes, but for giant objects like:
Code:
[{"date":"2011-09-03 23:06:03","notifier_id":"1","type":"1","unread":"0"},{"date":"2011-09-05 00:37:46"}]
if (JSON.stringify(oldData) == JSON.stringify(newData))
This doesn't seem to work. I've tried using:
Code:
escape("'" + JSON.stringify(W.notification.list + "'"))
but that ignores the objects properties and returns something like 22%5Bobject%20Object%5D%2C%5Bobject

I have the following data object. Each string in the "lib" element
represents a new record. I need to display each of these records in
html table format so I can be able to sort on each column. How can I
get each string from each element into its own row, or is there a
better way to populate this data object?
var jsData = new Array();
for (var i = 0; i < 4; i++)
{
jsData[jsData.length] = {lib: "string1,string2,string3,string4", id:
"num1,num2,num3,num4", com: "string1,string2,string3,string4"};
}
the html table output should look like:
string1 | num1 | string1
string2 | num2 | string2
string3 | num3 | string3
string4 | num4 | string4

A friend of mine has built as simple site for use on his company's
intranet. It uses JavaScript to read comma-delimited information from a
text file and displays it in tabular form.
When I looked at the source there is js like this:
function forwardClick() {
if (sitelist.recordset.AbsolutePosition !=
sitelist.recordset.RecordCount) {
sitelist.recordset.moveNext();
} else {
alert("You are already at the last record in the database.");
}}
and HTML like this:
<OBJECT id="sitelist"
classid="clsid:333C7BC4-460F-11D0-BC04-0080C7055A83" border="0"
width="0" height="0">
<PARAM name="DataURL" value="sites.txt">
<PARAM name="UseHeader" value="True">
</OBJECT>
Obviously it's a Windows and IE only thing but is there an equivalent
for non-IE browsers and/or non-Windows OS?

We are trying to develop an Engineering application using PHP,
Javascript with Informix as the back-end.
Is it possible to retrieve data using Javascript but by accessing the
Database. Say somebody enters part_no, than using Javascript is it
possible to connect to the part master and retrieve the division and
desc information?
I am not allowed to use the PHP because this will require the user to
insert the part number on the first page (user input page) and then
retrieve the information using PHP and display the info on the second
page (processing page).
I will need this to be done on the same page. That means the info will
need to be retrieved instantly (on the fly).
I think of building a javascript array for the part master table using
PHP but finally decided not to as the table is a huge table (contains
more than 1000000 records).
