View 7 RepliesI'm trying to do this:
$(document).resize(function(){alert('yea')});
But doesn't work on firefox or chrome, only work fine on IE (WTF!) I'd tried $('body').resize... but happen the same. $(window).resize work fine but I need to detect when the body's height has been changed by ajax.
I've got a page [URL]... where I have to use a jquery function to stretch the body to the user's window height if it isn't already.
In the same code I also use a condition that if the body is bigger than the user's window, the content has a padding to stop it going over the grass.
The reason I need to do the resize is because I have a background image that needs to sit at the very bottom of the page (with no bar or gap below it). The reason the padding can only exist when the body is bigger than the window is because it will put a scrollbar on pages that shouldn't have them.
It works great, but the only trouble is that if somebody decides to resize their window on a page that fits in it - it breaks.

I wanted to resize the modal dialog based on the content of the modal dialog for that i used the following lines of code:
The 'document.body.scrollHeight' is not giving the exact height of the modal dialog bcos the button on the modal dialog are not completely visible to click for the user.
How to get the exact height of the modal dialog to resize it?
I've got an IFRAME it loads a page with variable contents. I need to know the WIDTH of the body of that page. I'm using offsetWidth and offsetHeight
Quote:
This is weird....offsetHeight returns the height of the document body. offsetWidth returns the width of the iframe!
I'm trying to make my body content scroll at the same time as an iframe located within the body. This has to do with the age old problem of mouse focus on iframes. When my mouse reaches the iframe and it takes over focus, I would like the body to keep scrolling until the iframe is right at the top of the screen. After that I want to relinquish focus to the iframe. I don't mind if the iframe starts scrolling as soon as the mouse reaches it, so long as the main body keeps scrolling for a while.

I am in need of a JS script that matches the "li" height with the un-defined height of a absolute positioned block? Sort of like a matching columns script - is this possible? It's for IE6! Oh ya, and it's dynamic un-defined height. I only want it to match the height on hover. Here is a little test page I put together.[code]
View 12 Replies View Relatedhow to adjust the iframe height by itself if my html height increases. My html code includes a facebook comment at the bottom of my page and the comment will show making it expand the height once users post comments. On the other hand, I'm using a CMS that have its own iframe. I've tried many solutions that can be found on the web but none works. It only can work if I don't put in CMS. Is it possible to adjust the iframe height using CMS or there is no way?

Example: As the page gets longer due to contents, the DIV will also extend to the bottom of the page.
I have been experimenting all evening with different methods, some don't even work.
It's possible to style document.body not to start at 0,0 for example: body {width: 1000px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;} This means that X/Y of the body is not 0,0 but how can I find out what the position is using javascript? document.body.offsetLeft; is 0 and offsetParent is null yet if I position something absolutely at 0,0 it goes to 0,0 of the window, not the body!

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is my first time using JQuery, and verrry slowely i'm starting to get the hang of it :)
I've made some slideToggle div's at the right (http://nekodesuka.org/offbeat/), and inside that div there are two divs. One div has an image, the other some text. I want to set the height of the image div according to the height of the div in which the text is... It shouldn't be so much of a problem, but as jquery newbie, i'm wondering how this could be neatly done :)
I don't need the character height. I need the height of a paragraph that is wrapped once or more inside a div.
I need to know this because I need to make a fixed width div, that will adust it's height based upon the wrapped text that will be append to it.
I have been able to get close with this, but it's imperfect. I'm not sure what's wrong.

don not have access to the <body> tag as it is a part of the standard
page-header include (a separate file). How could I have certain pages
execute my function() onLoad?
The function basically just sets the original values of fields so that I
can determine if a field has been changed or not, which aleviates unnec.

How do you make a small change to the body of an html page from an event
handler? If you have a string var, a function that displays it in the
body, and a function that changes it, can you change the var on an event
and then reparse the body of the page but not the head? And if not,
then what?

I'm trying to figure out how to access body if it has no name or ID.
<html>
<head>
<title>blah</blah>
</head>
<body>
<p>example paragraph</p>
<style type="text/javascript">
document.getElementByTagName('body').setAttribute('bgcolor', '#000');

It didn't work. I also tried both of these:
document.getElementsByTagName('body').setAttribute('bgcolor', '#000');
document.getElementByTagName('body').item(0).setAttribute('bgcolor', '#000');
here is the code :
| <a href="javascript: getData('demo.htm','body')" class="home">
now on the page demo.htm, the text will show on index.htm, or a picture (if I call it via img src), but if I have any javascript scripts it will show nothing--not even text. I know 'body' will give me the items/text in the body, but I assume body needs to be replaced with something else to get the srcipt to run. I just have no idea? Any options. I would like to keep the way the page is being calle dinto the frame, I just would like to add some functionality.
Is there a small javascript snippet or something that can dynamically set the body ID on page load? I am using the Inverted Sliding Doors tabs from 456 Berea Street Code: but am trying to do so in a frameset [insert angry comments here] (I know I know, please don't harp!)... anyway, the tabs css sets the active tab using the body ID, but I can't seem to get it to recognize the body ID inside the frameset. Is there a javascript or some other code I could use to dynamically set the body ID? Or perhaps a better approach?
