I want to know the recommended way to handle scripting of/with
containers such as an iframe. I have a page with border-navigation
bars on the top/bottom/left/right and I want to use an iframe to load
content in the middle.
I would like, if possible, to have the parent window resize itself to
suit whatever is loaded into the iframe container, deriving the size
needed from calculated values. Thus the calculation would have to
over-ride default and/or previous settings for the size of the initial
iframe after all of the associated container content has been fully
loaded and rendered....

I know there are multiple threads on how to image swap using javascript. I am doing a portfolio with thumbnails at the bottom. When a thumbnail is clicked, it opens a large image at the top of page and then to the right of the large image, the description of the project appears. Both the large image and the text would fade in and stay until the next thumbnail is clicked. I have this for the script (someone pulled this from a site and gave to me) that works for clicking the thumbnail and the large image shows up:
$(document).ready(function(){
var Idx = 1;
var IntervalKey;
var ChangeImage = function(){
//If the image still animating, stop it and start the new one
$("#MainImage").ImageStop(true,true);
$("#MainImage").ImageSwitch({NewImage: $(".TnImage").eq(Idx).attr("src").replace("tn-","med-")});
//Mark which thumbnail is displaying

Using Jquery Cycle Plugin i have multiple containers on the same page. they have a next and prev button. the problem is, when i click the next button it will cause the containers on the pageadvance simultaneously, same goes for the previous button. it works fine when i click just on the images (they will go to the next image) but not with the prev. and next. button. i know i have to add some kind of var. to it. and i tried it but with no luck.
Here is my code.
$('div[id^=slide]').each(function(index) {
$('#slide'+ (index+1)).cycle({
fx: 'fade',
speed: 'fast',

Playing with the wonderful Cycle plugin. Rather than using container ID's and having specific options for each, I want to use the same settings for multiple containers of the same class. In other words, rather than:
$('div#containerName').cycle({
fx: 'scrollHorz',
speed: 'slow',
timeout: 0,

I've been struggling trying to get a small order form to work the way I want it to. Here is a link to the live page: [URL] And here is the code in question:
[Code]...
I have two questions...
Question 1 How can I make this piece of script act a little smarter. Look at the order form, I'm catering for up to 4 people and providing lunch for them. If they select 3 people and the spaghetti bol for lunch, it's only adding $10 where it should be adding $30. Obviously this is simple multiplication but since the values in my form are prices it makes it a little tricky. I'm guessing an onselect on the first part of the form which changes the pricing of the other items would be the way to go, but how do I do this?
Question 2 The "Total Price" is placed before the <form> tag by the script. This is ok but it's not where I want it. How can I position this text elsewhere in the document?

I am trying to create a place where if someone changes a color in a text field... (they can just enter 000000 or FFFFFF or anything like that) after they change it, (just off focus, or just click test button or whatever..) it changes a TD to match the color... so they know what the color looks like... its not neccessary to have it do this, but its a feature I think would be liked.

still beating my head for a popup window anyway I can get it. With JavaScript I can change the content within tag "bodies" but is it possible to change the actual tag itself.
Code:
<form id="loginForm" name="login" action="" method="post" onSubmit="timerWindow($username)">
<input type="text" name="username" value="" onBlur="doUsername();">
I'm using onBlur on the username field so as soon as the event happens I can do the JavaScript call. What I want to do is have the username (that was just entered) passed to the timerWindow function. I think it is getting close to being solved.

Mozilla-based browsers have watch and unwatch methods to detect change
in value of form elements (or any Javascript variables really). IE
doesn't support this.
Is there a a reliable cross-browser way alternative to this? Something
that will let me detect a change in value for a form element and
trigger my own callback function upon change?
Hopefully, something that is generic enough to be called as
"MyWatch(element)"!

working on a php/mysql app that has multiple tabs with multiple form fields. I am trying to incorporate a javascript form field detection function that alerts the user that they have not submitted their changes if they try to navigate away. The detection works as designed, but the problem I am having is when the form is submitted, the script senses an unload and still fires the alert. The form submits to itself and updates the database and then reloads the page with the new values. Is there a way to have the script ignore the forms submit url and skip the form check?Here is the code ( NOT mine, found it somewhere else.)
<script language="javascript">
var ids = new Array('description');
var values = new Array('<?php echo $detail['description']; ?>');
[code]....

I work at a call center, and we use different webapps to fill out tickets. One I've used for a long time allows dynamically updating forms with javascript. I have a whole bunch of bookmarked javascript injections like:
javascript:if((top.detail.findObj('X31').value="Inquiry")!="");
That code will fill out most everything in that ticket, leaving me to fill in the details. I have one of those for all of the most common tickets, and can create and finish a ticket in less than 30 seconds when it takes others 3-4 minutes.
I recently switched to a different system and I'm having trouble with my code. The system we use doesn't allow me to see the source... I'm not sure how to explain it. It loads everything in a frame. In chrome I can right click then inspect element and get the ID but it the above javascript doesn't work. Examples:
Old app source ex: <label for="X31">Category:</label> was all I needed
new app(before the body code is just code for the login form, etc): <body onLoad="startit()" onUnload="stopit()">
</body>
<div align="center" valign="center" id="LoadMessageID" style="position: relative; top:40%; color:#0069A5; font-size:100% ;">
<img src="/arsys/shared/images/Progress_NonModal-circle.gif" alt="wait image"/>
Loading...
</div>
</html>
formloader:<form name="form1" action="/arsys/forms/bmcitsm/HPD:Incident+Management+Console/Default+User+View+(Support)/?cacheid=a22a36a8" method="post">
example of inspect element in chrome (something I want to change with javascript injection):<input id="arid301602600" type="text" class="text " style="top:0; left:0; width:225; height:21;" readonly="">

What I need to do, is to change a form field value in a new window (window2) based on input from the parent window. The new window (window2) will pull up an existing site, with a form, which I can't change the code on. I will only be able to work with the code on the parent window.
After I load the new window (window2), with the onload function, the error says: ('window2' is undefined).
For example, here is the basic code I have been trying to work with:
<script type="text/javascript">
window.
window.open("window2.htm", "window2");
window2.theform.field.value=1;
}
</script>

how to add text to a hidden field in a HTML form. I want to add text from an array, the array holds the information for the caption placeholder for the images.
Basically i have an image viewer which lets you scroll through images and they have a text caption below them telling what the images are. When the user clicks an image this brings up the form and hides the imageViewer. I want the caption of the image clicked to automatically be entered into the hidden field of the form when a user decides to choose a particular photo, so that it sends this to the server script for processing.
At present i have the function
function insertText()
{
//getElementById('camera').value=getElementById("captionPlaceHolder");
document.getElementById('camera').value = document.getElementById('captionElement').value;
}
i have commented some out to try various things.
My form input box has an id="camera" and i was told to do something like this. Give the hidden element an id="someName"...then in the JS you can change the value of it by the usual way... getElementById('someName').value=??? where ??? is the name of the camera the user has

I'm hoping there is a nice easy solution for this as just simply want to change the browse button to an image and remove the text box related with the upload form (and really it would be nice if i could combine the send and browse button together). However google has been a little unfruitful and i have no clue how to approach this. I was hoping for a standard solution to this as i can image other ppl have come to this problem before (and annoyingly the client wants it too).
