How Does Google Show_ads.js Work?

Jun 23, 2006

I'm hoping to set up a system similar to Google Adwords that allows
other sites to extact a limited amount of data from my site, and
display it as part of their webpage. Google use a javascript file:
show_ads.js with parameters.

Can anyone explain how the .js file works? In particular how does it
output HTML back to the calling site, and how does it access the
parameters?

Looking For Sizeable Popup That Will Work In Google Chrome

Dec 28, 2010

Does anyone have a sizeable popup that will work in google chrome? I have tried several scripts for this with no success, they all open full page. Here is an example of what I am looking for. The problem with this is it opens a new page plus a full page popup

<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function popup(url) {
var is_chrome;
var width = 1020;
var height = 600;
var left = (screen.width - width)/2;
var top = (screen.height - height)/2;
var params = 'width='+width+', height='+height;
params += ', top='+top+', left='+left;
params += ', directories=no';
params += ', location=no';
params += ', menubar=no';
params += ', resizable=yes';
params += ', scrollbars=yes';
params += ', status=no';
params += ', toolbar=no';
newwin=window.open(url,'windowname5', params);
is_chrome= navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase().indexOf('chrome') > -1;
if (is_chrome) {newwindow.parent.blur();}
if (window.focus) {newwin.focus()}
return false;
}
// -->
</script>

To open I am using:
onclick=popup(mypage.php?id=".$row->id."

JQuery :: $.post Doesn't Work At Google Chrome

Jan 4, 2012

I send some data by post from page to PHP script. In FF it works fine, but Google Chrome fall down...

var category = 'category_name';
$.post('../ajax.php', { 'ajax': 1,
'active': 1,
'category': category,
'id': id}, function(out) {
alert ('echo');
});

I tried the same code without apostrophes, but with no effect.

[Code]...

I found error... In POST variables passed to ajax.php I had 'content': content and content is probably jQuery reserved word (and this variable wasn´t define before). But I don´t know why that works in FF.

Window.Open Function Not Work In Google Chrome

Nov 16, 2010

I am really tired with Chrome, one of my window.open() Stuff work fine in FF and Opera in Fedora O.S. But Chrome Did not, my code is like:

Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function getpage(id, type){
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
data: "key="+id,
async: false,
url: "<?php echo site_url(); ?>/server/precp/"+type,
success: function (msg) {
window.open("<?php echo site_url(); ?>/server/cplogin/"+msg, "autologin");
}});}
</script>

And it call in another JavaScript function like:
Code:
function doKeyup(id,e){
if(e == 13) {
var cp = $("table#serverdata tbody tr#container_tr.row_no td:nth-child(7) a#cp").html();
var dc = $("table#serverdata tbody tr#container_tr.row_no td:nth-child(7) a#dc").html();
if(cp != null || dc != null ) {
var firstId = $("table#serverdata tbody tr#container_tr.row_no td:nth-child(1) input[type=checkbox]").val();
}if(cp != null) {
alert("Enter here");
getpage(firstId,'cp');
return false;
}

And it firstly call from onkeyup as :
Code:
<input type="text" name="find_text0" id="find_text0" autocomplete="off" <?php if ('B' == $sb_pos) { ?> onfocus="document.getElementById('find_text1').value='';" <?php } ?> onkeyup = "return doKeyup('0',event.keyCode);" />

Window.open Launched From A Set Timeout - Script Doesn't Work With Google Chrome

Jul 14, 2010

Works fine with ie and firefox. All the script is there to do is open a new window but delayed so that users can see the button unpress.

[Code]....

This is my favourite way of doing things. The problem is that Chrome wont do a window.open launched from a set timeout. (buttons are an image background that shows just half of the image at a time) But its nerfed if i cant get it to work on 0.00005% of the browsers that visits the sites! (ive come to really dislike chrome)

JQuery :: Google.load Function Doesn't Work If Called From Ready Function?

Jul 1, 2010

I'm using the Google AJAX APIs, but some reason google.load works when run through normal javascript, but if I call the method from my jquery ready function it doesn't work. Code and output is below

page.html
<script type="text/javascript">
loadGoogleStuff();
function loaded() {
console.debug("in loaded function");
}
[Code]...

window.loadFirebugConsole is not a function If I comment out line 3 in code.js, the console debug runs okay, so the ready function is running okay. Even though there's a reference to Firebug, the same error occurs in Safari too. Nothing on the page loads.

Google Maps Adding A Second Google Map To A Page

Apr 7, 2011

I'm not sure where I have translated this incorrectly. I have one google map embedded on my page which works fine. But I wanted to add a second one. I thought the easiest way to do this would be to have a second page which is called later on with all the details on it for the second map. However although I think (this I presume is where I went wrong) I have replicated the instructions correctly the place holder for the second map just remains blank.

This is the code for my called page with the instructions for the second map:

And this is the script of the main page, just in case I would be better off keeping them both in one place.

<head>

I've cut out the script that doesn't relate to this so I hope I haven't missed anything important.

AJAX :: Cross-browsing Request Work Around - Every Browser Doesn't Work ?

Jun 14, 2010

The "Permission denied" cross site issue.

I have to check from my external domain if a service is running on localhost:8080 of a local machine.

I'm using XMLHttpRequest to do it.

I'm checking a local-web-server, not a file.

Every browser doesn't work, but Firefox. So I'm looking for a work-aorund.

An iframe? a flash swf? an applet java? HTA applications?

A side question is, why does FF work? Because it's a local-web-server?

Google And Obfuscation

May 27, 2007

If obfuscation isn't all that good, why does Google obfuscate its
search results' code? Okay, I realize they're a commercial entity and
need to do it. How do they do it?

Could anyone out there decipher and normalize code for a Google search
result page? And despite the obfuscation, why is Google so fast?

I also get the feeling sites like Google and Facebook manage to create
better thumbnails on the fly. Any idea how?

Google Maps?

Nov 2, 2006

Been looking at google maps, but i am not sure if this is possible, what do you think?

1) Fill database with places (refering to lat + long values) + put markers on google map.
2) Users can then browse the map, click on a marker to select the location which referes to a place in a database.

I know I can add markers to a map. Not sure if it is possible for a user to click one, which then fills a box in a form though.

Ajax :: How New Google API Works

Aug 23, 2009

I am working on developing my own javascript API to be used across several websites I use on different servers, different domains, and different data centres entirely. I can not copy the script files to all of the websites as they need to remain on the source server for XSS restriction purposes.I am attempting to develop something similar to how the new Google AJAX API works were you can call the load(); function from the google namespace and load any of the required APIs into the google namespace dynamically. I have checked Google and all information I can find is telling me that I need to dynamically create a new script tag using javascript to import the further javascript files from the directory but it isnt working for me.
