Apr 30, 2009I am making a sort of text based game (Just a hobby) I like to do that sort of thing. So, anyway, considering all I can really do is code HTML, and very, very light javascript, I kinda need some help.
I basicly know how to do everything except affect & Use the cookies. So what I need to do with them is to
#1.) Have a code to change the cookie number, say... on the click of a button.
#2.) Have a code where it only displays certain text if the cookie is a certain number.
I cant code JS and have no idea how hard/easy this is.
If it is insanely hard & needs a master coder, just tell me and ill take it off. I dont want to be wasting anyones time.
IE6 Always Rejects A Particular Cookie Regardless Of Privacy/cookie Setting
Jul 23, 2005I have an embedded system with a web interface. One of the web pages
has a small JavaScript program that, when run on IE6, always displays
the message that cookies need to be enabled:

This problem only occurs with IE6, not Mozilla. It also only happens
on some of the embedded systems, but this problem exists for everyone
running IE6.
The problem isn't limited to the Javascript code, either. On another
web page from this embedded system, a cookie is set the normal way,
via the HTTP header. This cookie is also rejected.
When I display any page that attempts to set a cookie, IE6 displays
the blocked icon and says that cookies on that URL are blocked.
However, I have set all privacy and cookie options to their most
permissive. I've spent the past hour changing every option I can find
that's even remotely related to cookies and privacy, and nothing
changes. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
Retrieving Cookie Data Through Document.cookie
Jul 20, 2005In my web application we are able to store large data in the browser
cookie keeping in mind the limit of 300 cookies per cookie file, 20
keys per cookie per domain and 4KB max size of each cookie. We are
unable to retreive this large amount of data immediately after storing
through document.cookie in IE browser (The same works fine in
Netscape).
Is there any limit on the size of the data that can be retreived using
document.cookie in IE browser? Could you please suggest a solution to
this problem I am facing.

I am attempting to get the function to open a web page in a new window
in response to a button click.
I can get the page to open if I use the following syntax (hard code the
address)

However, If I pass the url in as a parameter to the function (as below)
the value passed in is "Undefined" and obviously the page will not open

Url Parameter From Check Box
Oct 25, 2004I have a checkbox in a form that submits to another page along with a couple of other fields in the form. Problem is I need the info to be received as url parameters on the second page. All is good except for the checkbox. The checkbox only creates a url parameter if it's checked, otherwise there's no url parameter for it. Is this typical?

I'm thinking that string.replace(/regex/, ""); would do the trick, but how
do I construct a correct regex?
I see a problem if the parameter name ("param1") happens to contain any
characters that have a special meaning in a regular expression.
Setting A URL Parameter Within Javasript
Jul 23, 2005I use URL parameters to track the source of a click and track Pay-Per-Click
results. For example, if a click originates from Google AdWords, the URL is
www.mysite.com/?source=google. For Google this works fine, but for many
other Pay-Per-Click search engines, the URL parameter seems to get lost and
the user gets directed to www.msysite.com.
Let's call the search engine for which this does not work "dummy". I was
thinking about sending users directly to www.mysite.com/dummy.html, and
within dummy.html I would set the parameter within a JavaScript to what
"dummy", using this command: var source = "dummy".
This does not seem to work, the php program that is executed later within
the JavaScript does not correctly interpreted the source variable and
therefore does not register a click from search engine "dummy". So, the
question is, how can I set the source variable within the HTML if it has not
been passed as part of the URL.

Boolean Function Parameter

based on the parameter passed in. At this point of time I receive the
error "'True' is undefined". Here is my code below.

More than likely this has to do with the boolean Parameter but I am not
sure how to handle this in JS. I have tried the following but receive
the same results.

function ShowSpecifiedPeriod(pShowPeriod boolean) - Same Error

Mar 3, 2011Looks like attr("name","value") method is not working to set name attribute value for input type in IE 7. It works fine in IE 8 and other browsers. Method works fine for other attribute in IE 7 e.g. id attribute
While setting name attribute it sets 'submitName' attribute and not 'name' attribute. Somehow IE 7 is not allowing to set name attribute dynamically.[code]...
But this issue is showstopper for us and I thought to check with forum if anyone has any suggestion for workaround.

I need to create a new page and get that 9 in it so I can use it. I don't mind jQuery, Ajax or Javascript but I need that 9. I know that with php I just need $_REQUEST["id"]; but I cannot use php.
