Foward Button - Active And Inactive States?
Apr 19, 2006
I'm making a prototype On Screen Application, Its very basic so i'm trying to add some nice touches. Its for a university project.
This application is more like a web page at this stage and will be running in a web browser with the user using a mouse as imput instead of their finger.
I want to add Back and Forward buttons in to the navigation area, there is no problem there that was pretty easy but, I'd like the forward button to show a different image (an inactive state, maybe greyed out) when the user gets to a page they havn't been to before then make it active when they go back a page.

I am attempting to make a menu that has a background image that changeswhen you rollover or click a menuitem. I've got the hover effect working fine with CSS, but am trying to implement the click event via jquery with the following:
CSS:
div.SustainResourcesMenuTabs
{ background-image: url('/images/departments/commdev/sustainability/menu_tab.jpg');
}[code]....
My process is to reset the entire menu to the inactive state, then switch on the active state for the item that was clicked. Eventually, the item that was clicked will display its corresponding body section as well. I've tried using the CSS pseudo-class "active", but since the entire div is the link, that is unavailable. I've also tried multiple variations of addClass/removeClass, toggleClass, and setAttribute/removeAttributebut nothing hasworked so far.

I'm working on an web application, and in one administration screen we have a grid (table) and each cell in this grid must contain a certain value.
It could be an 'L' or a 'C' or an '-'
The current solution is a little pulldown in each cell, but this is not easy to maintain.
I was wondering if it's possible to have a button with this functionality:
var A1 = ""
click #1 : Value (display text) = "L", background-color: blue; set var A1 = "L"
click #2 : Value = "C", background-color: blue; set var A1 = "C"
click #3: Value = "-", background-color: gray; set var A1 = ""
(on the next click its again like #1, etc.)
Any idea if this is even possible?

I hope I'm posting in the right place. I looking to create an image banner rotater with tabs switching the images. On first click of a tab, I'm looking for the function to switch to that tab's associated image. After the image is active, the next time you click on that same tab, it would kick you to some URL within the site. It would function like on the Yahoo! homepage: the tab box with NEWS | WORLD | LOCAL | FINANCE
Does anyone know of an existing jQuery function to do this?

What I am trying to do here is us jQuery to show my button states. I have a page here test page I am using the hover event to do the up and over states, and using the click event for the down state. They all work but when I click the button it shows the down state but as soon as I move my mouse it goes back to the up state. I was hoping to be able to have it stay on the down state while on that page then when you click another button it changes back to up state and the one you clicked takes you to the that page and stays at the down state. I have the up and over state active for each button but only have the down state on the home button for testing.
Here is the code for the up and over states and the down state for the home button is at the end of the code.

[code]I've got a long navigation, and pages slide in and out of view.Troubles are, if the user impaitently clicks a load of links while the page loading and sliding in is happening, it melts my (probably poorly written) code.So, I'm trying to stop the user from clicking on any other buttons,while the page loader is doing it's thing.

I have a page with three items that I want the user to agree to (a beta signup agreement).I want them to have to check off all three boxes before the "continue" button becomes active. I've searched and searched and found a few tutorials, but they only seem to get me halfway and then drop me off a cliff.I don't need this to be a submit form or anything, just click the three boxes and then you can hit the "continue" button.

I am using a basic jQuery accordion and what I am trying to do is add a button inside each section where if the user clicks the button, it will collapse the section, leaving all the sections closed. I just don't know how to get the button to close that section.
See below for example of what I am doing.
<div class="accordion">
<h3><a href="#">Header One</a>
<div>
<asp:button runat="server" class="cancelButton" text="cancel" />

I have a DIV overlay that I want to show as open only on certain pages but not on others (it is on all pages). The button that is related to the DIV must also display as on when the DIV overlay is open and in the off state when it is closed. This must happen on page load.
E.g. DIV open, button on.
DIV closed, button off.
I have the click show and activation working so all I need is it to display as open and on, on certain pages and then on others closed and off.

Currently my site uses dual session checking one in the server side (about 30 minutes) and the other on the client side (10 minutes). Once the timer ends and the page hasn't been refreshed the client side checking will end the current session. This is good if the user is just viewing but the problem occurs if the current page has forms that could take more than 10 minutes. My forms and fields are all dynamic and my javascript for this session checking is found on one template found on all pages. Is there a way to do this: detect if the user is typing? if yes do/stop the timer else reset the timer and start detecting again

I have been working on this tabb container for a while, and am learning how to code in CSS in the procces, with yall's help I was able to get close to what I am looking for in a finished product, but I am still missing a few things! Here is the working code:
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>[code].....
Here are a few problems I need solved:
1) The tabs don't use the active class when active except when the page first loads. This used to work, but now it got messed up and I don't know where.
2) I can't figure out how to center the text in the tabs
3) I Cant figure out how to set the widths of the inactive tabs so that they all span the top of the page evenly (Roughly 103px width a piece).

I've been able to disable a checkbox when needed. This is fine, but on my
website, you don't really see that the checkbox is disabled. Does it exist a
way to show a red X in the middle of the checkbox instead of disable it, and
also avoid a user to click on it ?

I think this is just a dumb question, I'm missing some basic logic here about jquery "grammar".
I'm trying to do an image swap on hover that checks to be sure the thumbnail is not the active thumbnail. So mouseover, it swaps. Mouseout, swaps back, unless the thumb has been clicked.
Here's a snippet of the code that doesn't work:
How do I check that _li is not ".active" and replace the src if it isn't?

I have a question about the best way to execute this task. I am trying to create a page with a dropdown list where the user selects the state. A drop down list below that can have the specific schools to that state to choose from. Now I need a way for the user to click on a school and then be taken to a page that has website URL's from all the fraternities in that school.
Do I need php and mysql? I don't want to create a million pages unless I have to. What is the easiest way to do this. Maybe some kind of central form things where it outputs the fraternity you want at a particular school and state. Also I am using tumblr but can just link it to a normal html or php page just throwing that out there.

I am new to this Forum so please forgive me if I don't play by any rules that I am not clear about.[URL].. which I believe is somehow linked to this site, there is a code for creating a drop down list of countries and then after clicking on a country the user is offered a sub-selection of states under the selected country.
I have tried to get this code to work as this is exactly what I am looking for but all I get when I use the code is drop down boxes with no countries listed. Does anyone know of this code and whether it can be made to work OR alternatively how this effect can be achieved?

I'm working on a small plugin that extends a checkbox to behave as if it has 3 states. Basically it just adds an anchor above the underlying checkbox, intercepts mouse clicks, and cycles the checkbox between:
disabled + unchecked
enabled + unchecked
enabled + checked
It works fine in FF. But in IE7, for some reason, the click events are always sent to the underlying checkbox instead of the overlaid anchor. The anchor is sized to completely overlay the checkbox (and in fact, I made it's slightly bigger so clicking at the very edges
works). Incidentally, I'm using jQuery 1.2.6 since this is part of a much larger web application and we haven't yet worked out the incompatibilities we're seeing with the latest jQuery version.
Here's the plugin code (the alerts are for debugging in IE)
(function($) {
$.fn.checkbox3s = function(options) {
var opts = $.extend({}, $.fn.defaults, options);
return this.each(function() {
var proxy, cbx = $(this), parent = cbx.parent();
parent.css({position:"relative"});
proxy = $("<a href='#'></a>").css({
position:"absolute", .....

I have been charged with using CSS to change the visited state of a hyperlinks that use "return false" in the href to cancel the redirect.The CSS is simple, the other three states (L, H, A) render properly. The visited state will not. I am inclined to say that this task is impossible without more JS due to the fact that the click event is effectively cancelled to and the redirect.[code]
