I am having trouble with retrieving data from an xml file Here is the code I am using can anyone tell me where my problem lies?
[Code]...
as I am very new to Javascript and AJAX I am not very familiar with the process yet and I have not been able to get the xml loaded. Obviously I am declaring this all wrong as I receive the error that load is not a function of xmlDoc!
I have a simple form that puts the info into cookies. I then need to check the entered name against the cookies, to see if they are the same. Currently there does not seem to be any cookies to check against, becuase my window.alert comes up blank. Please look over my code and see if you can spot the issue:
Code: function getCookieData(labelName) { var labelLen = labelName.length; var cookieData = document.cookie; var cLen = cookieData.length;
I want to store four cookies -- the name, the date the cookie was set, and the user's preferences for background color and foreground color. The name is set to John, the date set to 03-28-2005, the background color is set to red, and the foreground color is set to green.
Question 1: What is the entire cookie string (or name-value pair) returned when John visits the webpage?
Question 2: What code to use to extract the four values from the cookie string? The code should be written in a way that these values can be extracted wathever the order they appear in the cookie string.
Question 3: Why is it a good idea to store the date that the cookie is set? How is this information be useful?
I am trying to give uses the ability to email a web page in addition to print the pages but I cannot get the web page to post as the body of the email.
Here is what the print function looks like:
And here is where I stand on the email the page(not just a link to the page)
The above work great if I want to send a link to the page. How do I amend the above so that the the mail_str = contentWindow html?
And do I need to do make other changes to format the email as html rather than text?
Now what I do is: -use this function to create xml doc from string
[Code]...
the stirng shown at the beggining is passed to "response" (var response= xmlhttp.responseText;). Now for some reason all 3 values displayed are null... I am trying to figure why for last 2hrs but i cnt see any reason why they shouldnt be the actual values of nodes in the string...
I'm currently working on a web page that's acting much like a spreadsheet. There are fields that the user must fill in and then certain columns of fields add up to a sum at the bottom. I haven't been able to get it working quite right.
Here is the essence of the code Code: <form name="drillreport" method="post" action="process_report.php"> <table><tr> <td> Field 1 </td> <td> <input type="text" name="field1" id="field1" onBlur= calcTotal() /> </td> </tr><tr><td> Field 2 </td> <td> <input type="text" name="field2" id="field2" onBlur= calcTotal() /> </td> </tr><tr><td> Field 3 </td> <td> <input type="text" name="field3" id="field3" onBlur= calcTotal() /> </td> </tr><tr><td> Total </td> <td> <input type="text" name="tot_col" id="tot_col" onFocus= calcTotal() /> </td> </tr></table> ... It is more than that of course, but you get the idea.
The function I wrote is the following: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function calcTotal() { var returned_val=0; returned_val += parseFloat(document.drillreport.field1.value); returned_val += parseFloat(document.drillreport.field2.value); returned_val += parseFloat(document.drillreport.field3.value); document.drillreport.tot_col.value = returned_val; } </script>
I use the onBlur for each of the "component fields" so that if the user changes one of the fields, it updates the total. However, I can't get this to return values properly when just field1 is entered ( NaN ) comes up. As soon as I enter the second column the total appears fine. Why wont this work if you just enter the first field?
I am really stuck in parsing a JSON string and take it's values. I got the json string as
[Code]....
How to Parse this and take the Results for further processing in javascript.... I am waiting to hear from you Soon..I am using jQuery for the purpose...
I have a form that I am using to generate an email with several user selected fields being part of it. As part of this form, I have a select box which allows the user to select which email addresses it should be sent to. The box works great except that the CGI script I'm sending the values to can only parse a single line for each field in the form. The issue comes into play when someone selects more than one value in the select box, the output of the select box seems to separate each value on a separate line using a line feed (or carriage return, I can't tell). The format that the CGI script needs is for a single line with each of these values separated by a comma. I'm confident that a javascript can do this fairly easily, but unfortunately, I am not very well versed in javascript. I've found a few code snippets on the web that I've mangled together, but since I don't really know what I'm doing, it isn't working out so good. I've included what I have in the form right now below (note that I've removed all of the other form data but the select box code to save space). Code:
im writing a .net mvc web app and in this step Id like to send a post back to my controller including date and time values that i have stored inside hidden fields on a form. where im getting confused (I am very new to java script) is how I can now read those values and add them to the URL I'm constructing
I'm trying to make my body content scroll at the same time as an iframe located within the body. This has to do with the age old problem of mouse focus on iframes. When my mouse reaches the iframe and it takes over focus, I would like the body to keep scrolling until the iframe is right at the top of the screen. After that I want to relinquish focus to the iframe. I don't mind if the iframe starts scrolling as soon as the mouse reaches it, so long as the main body keeps scrolling for a while.
Heres my javascript code that will verify email from email input field and check if the checkbox (I agree condition) was checked:
[Code]....
However, this will work fine when calling with a link "javascript:validate('inputForm');" but if I try to prevent users by submitting form with pressing enter I put it in form onSubmit parameter: <form .. onSubmit="javascript:validate('inputForm');"> which will check the forms and submit data (do return) no matter if it matched or no.
Last week after much searching, I found the answer to my problem in this newsgroup. I can't find the thread from which I got my solution, but I wanted to report back what worked.
When the site visitor fills out the form and submits it, this calls a rather ordinary asp script like formmail.asp that sends the emails and displays a "thank you" web page. At the very end of my "thank you" web page I placed the following:
This causes the file download to get triggered, and asks the user if they want to save the file. In limited testing this appears to work fine in both Firefox and IE.
I'm a mediocre website designer i know html , at JS i'm to noob to actualy make something of my own :) just Edit, i'm still learning and atm i'm working on a web project and I'm struggling to find a way to Filter email addresses to redirect my New Members to their e-mail provider, for example if they would register newmmember@hotmail.com to be forwarded to www.hotmail.com so they would login and activate their account, or if they enter @yahoo.com to be forwarded there . Can you please point out a few things i'm eager to learn how to Forward User to email provider after he creates his account . Or how can i forward email to URL inside my webpage , this could help me with another ideea i have, again this would have to be filtered @yahoo.com , @hotmail.com etc , to be forwarded to a local URL inside the site depending on what Email Provider they enter .
I have a frameset and one of the frames contains a page that is created on the fly, an actual word document. I want to have a button in one of the other frames that emails this created page as an email attachment using the email client (outlook or whatever). I created a function as follows:
<script language="JavaScript"> function mailIt() var page = parent.QandA; document.write 'mailto: sendmail@example.com?subject=The document&Attachment=' document.write page; } </script>
Which is then called from a button, but it doesnt work! QandA is the name of the frame that contains the document I want to email as the attachment.
Im using the old nopcard scripts on my site. It does every thing right except it does not send a Email to my to my email adres. I dont know how to correct this because i dont know Javascript. Looking for a good tutorial on how to use jQuery to read email sent tomy site's email address, and how to send email through my site'semail. Basically, how to construct the server email portion of
Is it possible to create a page (with javascipt) that will send an email to the "me" but the user can't see the destination email address? Im wondering if I can do the "party" with Javascript without using some server page like PHP.
I am developing an application which allows a web site visitor to email a page to a friend using the PHP mail() function.
What I would like to do is dynmaically extract the H1 from each page using JS and store this as a PHP session named title. Can I get this info using JS?
I'm slowly discovering the world of JavaScript, so I'm not sure I'm attacking this problem in the right manner, thus if I'm in the wrong newsgroup, my apologies.
What I'm trying to do is extract some news items from a web site. To do this, I'm using Microsoft Word VBA and using the following bit of script:
I found this little script for extracting parameters from a url but wondered what the shortest and most efficient way to do it would be, like the following or via regexp?
function getParameter(paramName) { var currentUrl = window.location.search var strBegin = currentUrl.indexOf(paramName) + (paramName.length+1) var strEnd = currentUrl.indexOf("&",strBegin)
if (strEnd==-1) strEnd = currentUrl.length return currentUrl.substring(strBegin,strEnd) }
