Onmouseout Not Working - How To Make It Work

Jun 9, 2009

I have a webpage with addition questions for numeracy training. I am storing the sums in a table(id="sums"), with an empty textbox(id=ans1) for the user to type the answer. After the user types an answer and moves onto the next Q, I want to activate a popup dispaying if the answer is correct or not. I am tackling this with onmouseout. The script checks the answer, then displays a confirm message if correct or and alert message if wrong. The onmouseout is not working

Code:

input type="text" name="ans1" size="1" maxlength="2" id="ans1" onmouseout="checkAns1();"

Code:

function checkAns1(){
if(document.sums.ans1.value==(document.sums.Q1R1.value + document.sums.Q1R2.value)){
var confirm("correct");

When I run an if statement, I'll get an alert letting me know that the value of target is null, but why is it null? It should contain a reference to the h1 node.

Loop Function Not Working - How To Make It Work

Jun 8, 2009

I have a pretty simple function set up to pull XML data into my page, but there's a couple things wrong with it. I'm REALLY new to J Script and really trying my best to learn, but for some reason I'm not yet adept at googling the right results :rolleyes:At the very bottom you can see the data from the first XML entry, so it seems the function itself is working fine, but it's not looping coorectly to access all the data.Also, I want to pull it into the "shows" div of the page, but can't figure out how to put it there (seriously, I am very new with JS). The code below is not working, but the live site has it added to the body, which does show the one entry.Here's the XML function, the XML data and the HTML markup:

Shows function -

function loaddates()
{
var xmlData = document.getElementById("tourdates");
var newDates = xmlData.getElementsByTagName("dates");

Login Page On Schools Educational Online Platform Doesn't Remember The Login Info?

Dec 22, 2009

In Chrome, the login page on my schools educational online platform doesn't remember the login info. So i made a bookmark with this javascript injection, that fills in the info, and focusses on the 'aanmelden' button (='login' in dutch), so that i only have to press enter to continue. Here's the javascript injection:javascript: ocument.getElementById('username').value='23889493984';document.getElementById('password').value='4 42384985';return false;document.getElementById('login').focus();This works fine but i'd like to make it happen faster. I wish i could let the script be activated instantly when the page loads, so i only have to press enter, or if possible, let the script click the login button itself.

Double Quote - Unable To Cal Login .php Upon Clicking Login

Sep 17, 2010

I am able to run perfectly the following

<li><a href="javascript:ajaxpage('login.php', 'ajax');">Login</a></li>

But not the following

echo "Welcome Guest!<br><a href=javascript:ajaxpage('login.php', 'ajax');>"

I removed the " around the javascript:ajaxpage('login.php'); as it was giving me syntax error. But I am unable to cal login .php upon clicking Login. I tried various combination of single quote and double quote but I think I am missing some fundamental rules of single and double quote combination....or may be something else.

External Event Handlers Won't Work

May 27, 2009

When I register an event handler directly into the HTML tag everything works fine, but I'm trying to register them from the external JS file where the function is, and that doesn't work at all. I've read that this is called the "traditional method" and that it should work.

I've tried it a million different ways, but what I'm putting below AFAIK is correct... but it just doesn't work. I've tried it in Firefox, IE, and Chrome - and used the "Inspect element" feature in Chrome, and am not getting any error messages.

Here is just a simple example of what I'm trying to do - its extremely basic, I know, but I just can't figure out why it won't work.

HTML:

JS:

(Again, it works perfectly when I stick the onclick="message()" event handler directly into the HTML h1 tag, but not when in the external file.)

How Do I Get Variables In External JS File To Work In Html Page?

Jul 14, 2007

I need help getting variables in an external js file to transfer to the html page that uses them. I have an html page that lists verses to memorize, which, when the mouse hovers over a particular verse, a small popup reveals the book reference for that verse, thus giving a check to see if the user has accurately referenced that verse for its source.

I have an external js file (VERSES.js) that houses the verses and popup references sequentially as elements in an array and then writes them to the html document. A simplifed version of what I am using, with only a few verses listed here as an example, and that works beautifully, is given below: Code:
