What I am trying to do is dynamically update an image and image map on
a page. I'd like the update to happen as quickly as possible and be
done without refreshing the page. The catch is that the image map uses
the wz_tooltip.js (http://www.walterzorn.com/tooltip/tooltip_e.htm)
library to display a JavaScript tooltip containing detailed information
about different areas of the image. So, when I pass the required
<script> tags via .innerHTML, the browser treats it as text and does
not interpret the JavaScript and execute the code.
I've got a function, which must do thinks in 3 steps.
1. Change the innerHTML of an element to show a message (Please wait while ...)
2. Work with datas 3. Re-Change the innerHTML to show the result.
The work on datas may take a few seconds (working with XML, DOM and so on) I did a cut and paste of an old post, but no one did any answer, so I hope to give any help now.
I am using an ASP.NET AJAX control (ValidatorCallout) that requires client-side validation to work with a custom validator I added. This is an example of some code that works:
ClientValidationFunction="CheckPrime" ControlToValidate="PartNumberText" ErrorMessage="b><br />A Part Number is required."></asp:CustomValidator> <script language="JavaScript"> <!-- function CheckPrime(sender, args) { var iPrime = parseInt(args.Value); var iSqrt = parseInt(Math.sqrt(iPrime));
for (var iLoop=2; iLoop<=iSqrt; iLoop++) if (iPrime % iLoop == 0) { args.IsValid = false; return; }
args.IsValid = true; }
This is code I borrowed from another site to test this method - and it works. My problem is that I need the JS to execute a VB function in my project and I don't know how to do that. I want to do something like:
function CheckValue(sender, args) { var sPartnumber = String(args.Value); if FindExistingPN(sPartNumber) { args.IsValid = false; return; } args.IsValid = true; }
....where FindExistingPN is a funciton in my VB class. I have seen some other posts about this, but none of them really gave me any sample code that I could run. As I mentioned earlier, my JS skills are lacking, so I am unable to create this myself.
I'm trying to execute a bat file on the server in javascript. The javascript sits on the server as well. I'm currently using:
document.location.href='testme.bat'
However the only thing it does is just opens up the bat file and shows my bat code in the browser. How can I execute the batch file instead of opening it and viewing it in the browser?
For some god-forsaken reason (which I can't find out either) MSIE stopped executing any JavaScripts. In any page which contains JavaScript code, that code won't be executed. There are no error messages, no warnings, nothing. It simply does'nt work. I'm pretty sure this could be caused by some stupid installation of another program that messed up some IE settings.
Security settings for IE are all lowered down. Everything is activated (Scripts, ActiveX, automatic download of anything, anytime)... so we ran out of ideas of what could be the problem. And yes, we have also tried to reinstall IE.
The only clue we have is that a local Administrator user can change IT security settings for himself and (go figure) things work fine! The problem occurs with users that have limted access to the computer and I am pretty sure this shouldn't happen. If you are wondering... yes... the local administrator has already tried to change the settings for limited user account..
I have a select dropdown and 5 text fields. based on the option selected (which are the units - cm/mm/inches/ft/yard etc), i change the values in the text fields using javascript to the corresponding units.
my problem is that when the options are selected very quickly(for eg using the keyboard's up/down keys) then quickly, the text field values lose their connection with the select box and the values become illegal.
I suspect that the javascript function is being called even before the earlier execution has not terminated. I tried using a global variable and using it as a lock, but still no success.
Is there some way from preventing the JavaScript code in a document loaded into an iframe from executing? I don't have access to the pages being loaded into the i-frame so I can't modify then. They are being loaded from a server.
Basically, I have a page that I load with 10 input fields. If users have JS enabled I want to hide 5 of these fields so as to reduce clutter. If the user needs these extra fields an "Add" button can be used to display the hidden fields one by one.
Once the fields a filled in the user submits them for validation and if there are any error They can "Go back" to make some changes. The whole process works great in FF & Opera but IE lets me down because if you use the Browser "Back" button the Javavscript gets executed even though it should be loaded out of cache.
How can I get the innerHTML of a <div> area only when the page loads, then use that variable in a function?
Here is my code: function setContent(zz) { var lb = document.getElementById('leftbar').innerHTML; var rb = document.getElementById('rightbar').innerHTML; document.getElementById("myContent").innerHTML = "<span class="title_Page">"+Page[zz]+"</span>"; if (zz=="home") { document.getElementById('leftbar').innerHTML = lb; document.getElementById('rightbar').innerHTML = rb; document.getElementById('leftbar').style.width = 食px' document.getElementById('rightbar').style.width = 食px' } else { document.getElementById('leftbar').innerHTML = ""; document.getElementById('rightbar').innerHTML = ""; document.getElementById('leftbar').style.width = Ɔpx' document.getElementById('rightbar').style.width = Ɔpx' } }
I want lb and rb to be set only once (i.e. only when the page loads the first time). I tried putting those variables outside the function, but when I do they, they show up as undefined. So how could i code it so that when the page loads, it assigns the innerHTML to the two variables, but not any other time while that page is open?
<html> : <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function addCode () { document.getElementById('emptySpace').innerHTML+= "<b>This is a test part </b><script language='javascript'>window.alert('Hi');</script>"; } // --> </script>
I used innerHTML to assign HTML content. but in my HTML page content have also some javascript function and it will run when page load. bu when HTML code assgin thru innerHTML then this javascript is not working. Code:
I'm using an ajax-type script(as such things are now called) to use document.id.innerHTML() to write code dynamically into a <div>.
The code being written into the div is the html and javascript of another page that is being copied down by a php script and then being written into my <div> via the innerHTML(). The webpages being displayed in the div have javascript functions that have to run in order for that page to be displayed correclty.
Once I re-write the 3rd party webpage code into my div, the javascript from the loaded page doesn't run. The pages kept coming up looking incomplete, so I turned off javascript on my browser and loaded the page in question directly and got the same thing. So it confirmed that the <div> is not running the written javascript.
Is there a way around this, or do I need to look for another solution?
I'm trying to shrink some jQuery code by using replaceWith, instead of hiding and showing two different items. Since I'd never used replaceWith before, I created a test page, all it has has a div container, with class "one", and inside it the word One.
The jQuery code I wrote is below, it works to replace One with Two, when one is clicked. But clicking Two does nothing. I put in an alert to test what replacement is, and it is correct, a div with class of two. Yet still the second click doesn't return to One.
$(document).ready(function() { var replacement; $(".one").click(function(event){
i have made a web page in html in which i want as user enters his data and press a button load then computers MAC idCPU id and Motherboard id is automatically inserted in the check boxes.This is my html code
I insert an element into a website (between <div id=here></div>. It works.This is an input field and a picture (a trashcan)).Click on this picture shall delete the new content between the <div>s This doesn't work.Only on the content on bottom of the site (original content) works.
I need to get text data from a web page which are unfortenately inserted into <span> tag by jQuery so it's not actually involved in HTML source file. That means for me I can't get it by classic HTTPRequest (programmatically).
For example, on this page: [URL]
When you enter some text in the textbox, this text will show up under it. But when you open HTML source or download it using HTTPRequest (I do so in C# language but it shouldn't matter), the source won't contain entered text. And this text is what I'm trying get to.
like am inserting 1000 records so i want to see the count for inserted article, assume for example till 200 article inserted successfully, after few second 500 article inserted success fully, like that progress information, i know we can do using the ajax, jquery
I am using a WYSIWYG web editor (Serif WebPlus X4; for a whole range of reasons - please don't turn this thread into a discussion of the pros and cons of WYSIWYG! ). It has a tool to create a site search facility, whereby you add a text box to accept the search terms, and specify an iFrame in which the results appear. The source of the iFrame is not specified as a page, but rather the content is generated and inserted by the search JavaScript that runs when the user searches the page.
I really don't want the results to be in an iFrame, because I think it looks a mess when the page and the iFrame both scroll. To avoid this, I'm trying to get the iFrame to resize to fit the results, so it won't need to scroll. (Of course, the alternative would be to change the JavaScript so the results are placed directly onto a page rather than in an iFrame, but because of the way the WYSIWYG editor works, that's less straightforward).
I've found many scripts online that would let me change the size of the iFrame based on its content, but they all assume that the content is coming from a file saved on the server, and work by checking the height of the file's content, and inserting that value as the height of the iFrame. Now, the problem is that when I use these scripts they cause the iFrame to become 0px high, I assume because the frame doesn't have a fixed source that can be measured, but rather gets its content fed in from the search JavaScript.
Can anyone help me figure out a way to resize the frame even though its content is dynamically generated as the page with the frame is loaded? I've copied below the search script and the html page with the iFrame that needs to resize. Ideally, whatever solution I use shouldn't involve editing the .js file I've attached, since this is generated automatically by the WYSIWYG program.
i have a form. i'm going to store the field into mysql. there are 2 conditions : one or all fields empty OR none is empty. when there's no empty field, the data will be stored. but, when there's empty field, no data will be stored and there will come up the alert "please fill all the fields!" here's the form :
I am building a custom shirt design app which uses an Ajax form to allow a user to upload an image, and once it is uploaded it is automatically placed in the next empty <li> in their little gallery... once it is in the gallery they can click on it and insert it into their shirt design. It's all done with Ajax so they never leave the page.
Here's the code that inserts the image into the page once it is uploaded: (this works perfect)
The problem is that if I click on one of the first five, it works, the image gets inserted into the shirt design. But if I click on that last one, which now has the image I uploaded in it, it doesn't get inserted into the shirt design. Is there a reason why?
I can't figure out how to coax JQuery in to selecting an element that is manually (dynamically) inserted in to the DOM after the page loads. For example: If I have HTML: <div id="bar"> World! </div>
Then I create a new element and insert it in to DOM: var foo = '<div id="foo">Hello</div>'; $("#bar").before($(foo));
I end up with this, which is great: <div id="foo">Hello</div> <div id="bar"> World! </div>
Now that's very nice, but later on I might want to do something different with the element I inserted, using JQuery to manipulate that new element. But if I try to do: myHappyEl = $("#foo"); Then myHappyEl will be undefined. JQuery doesn't see it, presumably because it go attached after JQuery was done watching for such things. How I can coax JQuery in to noticing the existence of new elements created not only in exactly the manner shown here, but in general after the DOM has fully loaded.
I've seen lots of suggestions addressing a possibly related but subtly different issue, wherein the solution is to use .live() to attach an event listener when an element comes in to being. That would be brilliant if I wanted to capture a click event or something, but I don't; I want to be able to select the dynamically added element(s). Perhaps there's a simple way to accomplish this using live(), but I haven't seen it yet. If there is a solution using live then I'd like to know what event and what function to trigger!
