The website I'm currently developing has a search area where users can narrow down where or what service they would like to view.The problem I'm having is, I have certain things that fall into only certain areas.Here is the actual form:http://www.xgfx.co.uk/drop-downs.jpgAnd this is the code behind it:
<form id="ticsearch" action="searchtic.php">
<select name="country">
<option value="1">Select Country...</option>

came across this forum while searching for an example of how to do something in Javascript, and found the post helpful, but didn't quite answer my query completely... It was a very old thread, few years old, though so I thought best not to revive it from the murky depths :)Basically, I very rarely use JavaScript... in fact, I rarely do any programming at all, but I'm trying to build a basic site at the moment, and I'm wanting to disable/enable a text box based on the value of a drop down menu...The idea behind it is that I have a sub title, and in the admin panel, I want to be able to set whether the sub title is picked randomly from a database, or whether it chooses one, and only one...So in the admin panel, I've got a page that has a drop down menu with two options. Static, and Random. Below this, I've got a text box called Static ID... In this text box, the administrator would insert the database row ID for the specific sub title they want...
Obviously this Static ID field only applies if you select a Static sub title, rather than a Random sub title...So what I want to happen is for the text box to be disabled if the drop down menu is selected as Random... and then enabled if the drop down is selected as Static...So I came across the following script on an old post as mentioned earlier:
<script type = "text/javascript">
function enableTextbox() {
if (document.getElementById("dropdown").value == "New") {
[code]....
What I'm Looking to do is base certain options in a dropdown menu in a form off of the first selection, like this
Code:
Selection 1
Option 1
[code]....
I am asking jQuery to tell me which drop down option is selected in a drop down list - like this:
I would like to check if this was successful before I proceed. What are the possible return values for this statement?
If no id exists.
If no option is selected.
If some other problem occurred.
In these cases am I expecting a null return; an undefined return, a false return value?
And, based upon the complete set of return possibilities, what would be the best and most comprehensive tests I could apply to cover every base.
i'm having with a superfish menu i have tried to add to my wordpress site.The menu seems to work fine for the base-level (top parent pages) menu items.But the drop down menus seem to flash on screen for just a second and then disappear when the mouse hovers over the menu items.To see an example, please check out the top menu on this temporary development page: http:[url].....I have tried adjusting the z-index in superfish.css file but it doesn't seem to be having any effect.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently have a Drop-Down menu, which has headers you click on to show the links. This menu only allows one drop to be expanded at a time, and can be viewed here [url].
I would like the headers to be able to have 'sub-headers' inside, which also drop-down,to reveal the links. I want them to have a different header colour, and to have the same rule where only one can be open at a time. while keeping the rule with the main headers.
I've got 2 drop down select lists. The first one would have something like
-Category 1
-Category 2
-Category 3
Then what I'd like to happen is when you select one of those categories the next drop-down below it loads something like
--Sub Category 1
--Sub Category 2
--Sub Category 3
Any idea how I'd pull that off?
I have been searching for a long time but have been unsuccessful on how to develop a drop down menu but have the menu items show in a list above the main nav. Not below. I really like the way this functions:[URL].. But I would like the item in the list to appear above the main nav so it animates up not down. Can anyone help me on how to alter this js code to perform this task?
Here is the jQuery file link:[URl].. I tried going through this js file but it very complex. Can anyone tell me what I need to change to have the animation roll up instead of down?
how can a menu like the image attached

So, what it does: You can successfully drag something anywhere, but when you click it again, it resets to its original position (I don't know why), and when you try to drag it again, as soon as your cursor touches the object it disappears (I don't know why). why it is happening and how to fix it!
// JavaScript Document
var posX;
var posY;
var element;

the html is a simple (position is set to relative):
<p id="square" onmousedown="drag(event)">meep</p>
EDIT: This is the first time I've written javascript code and would like to learn the basics, which is why I am not using a library.
I'm currently redesigning my site, and I have a small quandary.[URL].. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same size monitor as me, therefore sometimes the drop-down menus get cut off. Is there a way with this script for it to auto-detect if it's going past the bottom edge, and when this happens it'll go upwards instead?

I have a form with pairs of checkboxes. When one is checked then I want to enable the other checkbox for that pair, and disable when unchecked. I can get this to work when I have a separate function for each pair, but not if I try to use one function and pass the id of the element.[code]

View 7 Replies View RelatedMuch like what I've previously posted this code is meant to display what you type but only after you click the button or hit the enter key. However, it only works as far as the button but not the enter Key.
how to amend this so pressing enter works too?

i've been looking online for a while for a code that would disable 3 text fields.[code] Was unable to find one. was only able to get it to do one of fields. What i'm try to do is have a checkbox to enable and disable a row and produce a value in the totalcalls box.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a drop down list which depend to the value selected from the previous drop down list. I can add it without problem, but If I change again the value of the first drop down list I would like to remove the previous drop down list generated from the first value. If I try to remove it when I create the element, it even does not create the element, the remove element function seems to work because when you click on the remove link it works.

I have exactly one external, alternate stylesheet that I want to enable or disable by form controls, on one page only (not saved across pages).
I used:
<link rel="alternate stylesheet" id="style-compact" etc...>
<input name="view" type="radio"
onclick="document.getElementById('style-compact').disabled=false">
<input name="view" type="radio" checked="yes"
onclick="document.getElementById('style-compact').disabled=true">
Is this the best way to do it? I want to reference the alt-stylesheet by
name (or similar), not index.
It works in my Camino & Safari. In IE-Mac, I can enable the stylesheet,
but not (subsequently) disable it again -- parts of the page just
disappear.
This is the error I get when I try to download a file from Rapidshare.
ERROR: Please enable JavaScript.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Sun JDK 6.0. Sill the problem persists.
The problem is generic now. For instance I cannot use the collapse /
expnad links at the top of this post. I have also enabled all
scritping options in my browser (IE 7.0).
Can anyone hepl me in this regard?
I've this code:
function checkdate(FormSubmit){
alert(document.getElementById('Mois').value);
if(eval(document.getElementById('Mois'))>0 &&
eval(document.getElementById('Annee'))>0){
document.forms['FormSubmit'].getElementByID('SELECTCONSTRUCTOR').disabled
= false; //can't reach the control here
}
else
{
document.forms['FormSubmit'].getElementByID('SELECTCONSTRUCTOR').disabled
= true; //can't reach the control here
}
}
....
<form name="FormSubmit" method="post" action="">
....
<select name="Mois" onChange=checkdate(this.form);>
....
<select name="Annee" onChange=checkdate(this.form);>
....
<select name="SELECTCONSTRUCTOR" disabled>
Now, what I would like, is to enable the SELECTCONSTRUCTOR if month and year
are selected (I mean different to 0).
I can't enable or disable. In fact I can't reach the control in the
checkdate function...
How can I enable/disable SELECTCONSTRUCTOR when my 2 fields are selected?
I'm sure this functionality must exist somewhere, but I can't find it. basically, I just spend over 3 hours until I realized that $("index") is not the proper spelling for selecting the index div. It would be swell if I could be alerted to such errors, I'm sure this is easily doable. I just need warnings whenever something fails, and this is a clear case of failure, since so such property or function exists, right?
