I have a table that holds a form. At the bottom of the table it has a link that says ... "Add another entry" When clicked it should add another table below that one for the user to fill out. This is designed for a Resume Builder where the user will be able to input multiple jobs. I have the script "kinda" working but the only problem is that I have to try and cram the entire table code into ONE line. If it expands multiple lines it doesn't work. I was wondering if anyone could help me out on that one... Code:

So this is the inital table that should be replicated on each click:
Code:
<table>
<tr>
<td><input type="text" /></td>

I am on a team designing the front end of an Intranet application. The
backend guys will be using JSP and AJAX-like functionality to make
server requests that must dynamically change elements on a page.
What is the best way to create and populate tables, which will exist in
floating DIVs (with drag and drop capability)? It only has to work
with IE6.
I know of two ways:
1. Dynamically making the tables using "createElement('<table>')",
"insertRow()", etc.
2. Using innerHTML in the holding DIV, to generate table code inside.
3. Is there another way?
What are the pros and cons of #1 and #2? In terms of speed (some of
these tables are huge)? #2 seems easier to wrap my head around, but
maybe less efficient?
I'm having problems writing a "preview window" for some user input. Essentially, I have a <textarea> that I'm pulling their input from, and replacing the contents of an iframe with that data.
Instead of writing it as "<div>", etc... it writes "<div>" The browser therefore just displays all the text instead of interpreting it as html.
Code:
function content() {
return(document.getElementById('content_area').innerHTML);
}

I'm trying to dynamically write out this line of javascript:
obj.offsetLeft
So I want to be able to feed a param of either Top or Left in and then write it out so it gets execuated correctly in the javascript....so i've tried stuff like:
function findPos(axis) {
obj.offset[axis]
and
function findPos(axis) {
obj.offset+[axis]
where axis is either Left or Top
I have here a code that will automatically generate two text fields (Title & Price) when "Add another article" is pressed. I got this from the web, but I want instead of using a text field, I want it to create a drop down menu based on a mysql table, then update the price automatically (also based on the mysql table) on the other text field once a selection has been made on the drop down menu.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on some code and am running into brick walls. I'm trying
to write out Javascript with Javascript and I've read the clj Meta FAQ
and didn't see the answer, read many similar posts (with no luck
though), and searched through the IRT.ORG Faqs
(www.irt.org/script/script.htm).
The Javascript is designed to open an popup window and then inside that
window call another script which will resize that window. There may be
another way around this but the reason I tried this approach initially
was that I wanted to call the onload handler in the popup window to
resize the image only after the image had completely loaded. I've had
some code in the primary Javascript file (showimage.js) before that
works if the image has been cached but on the first load, it doesn't
resize properly which tells me it is probably because it is trying to
resize the window based on the image size but it isn't completely known
at that point. So I removed that code and tried placing the resizing
code in the second Javascript file (resizewindow.js). BTW I've tried
other code to open a popup image and automatically size it ie Q1443 at
irt.org but that doesn't do exactly what we need.
Even if there is another way to do this with one file, I still want to
figure out why this isn't working in case I run into it in the future.
I thought what I would need to do to use document.writeln to write
Javascript would be to escape any special characters and to break
apart the script tag ie
document.writeln('</SCRIPT>');
would become
document.writeln('</SCR' + 'IPT>');
I have a HTML page and 2 Javascript files. All files are in the same
directory and have permissions set correctly.
Here are the 3 files (keep in mind wordwrap has jacked up the
formatting):
index.html
----------
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>Test</title>
<SCRIPT type="text/javascript" LANGUAGE="JavaScript1.1"
SRC="showimage.js">
</SCRIPT>
</head>
<body>
Click the house<BR>
<A ONCLICK="newWindow1('house1.jpg','Nice House')"><IMG
SRC="house1thumb.jpg"></A>
</body>
</html>
showimage.js
------------
function newWindow1(pic,sitename)
{
picWindow=window.open('','','width=25,height=25,sc rollbars=1,resizable=1');
picWindow.document.writeln('<html> <head>');
picWindow.document.writeln('<SCR' + 'IPT type="text/javascript"
LANGUAGE="JavaScript1.1" SRC="resizewindow.js"></SCR' + 'IPT>');
picWindow.document.writeln('</head>');
picWindow.document.writeln('<body onload="resizewindow();">');
picWindow.document.writeln('<img src=' + pic + '>');
picWindow.document.writeln('</body> </html>');
picWindow.document.close();
}
resizewindow.js
---------------
function resizewindow()
{
// Do resizing here.
// Right now this isn't being executed
alert("resizing window");
}
Can anyone provide some pointers as to why this javascript is failing?
I'm using IE6 on Win2k and when I click on the image to open the popup
window, it does open the window but it is white with no content and the
system immediately goes from about 4% CPU usage to 100% and
consistently stays there until I kill that window with the task
manager.
Is it possible to make table rows visible/unvisible by javascript. If the answer is yes, can someone give me a working example.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a script that inserts things into tables. It's complicated and involves xmlhttp and lots of stuff, but I've narrowed the problem down to something simple. The following code does not work in IE. It doesn't generate an error, but simply displays nothing. Here is the code:

I am trying to hide a table based on its id on clicking a button.

I've created an XML-RPC server, and would like to somehow bind the XML
server responses to a table for users to view. Here's the catch, that data
changes frequently (every few seconds), so I'm using setInterval to
periodically get updated XML content from the server.
Currently, the setInterval function requests the entire dataset, then
rewrites the entire table. I'm concerned that it's a waste of bandwidth,
and disrupts the user scrolling through the data whenever it rewrites.
Ideally, I'll have the XML-RPC server generate only data changed since the
last request, then somehow update the table with the changes.
I have my own library for web-design building - active forms, lists. I
am going to build tabbing component. The complexity in this process
is that all web forms uniformed and are built as TABLEs, where
each field is TR. Tabs have to show/hide some of table rows.
I don't know how TR's properties must be changed in order to hide them
all.
I tried make HTML code like
<TR>...</TR>
....
<DIV id=tab1>
<TR>...</TR>
....
</DIV>
<TR>...</TR>
....
And tried to change visibility of a DIV, but this doesn't work.
How can I change visibility of set of TRs?
Here's the situation: I have a simple php file which retrieves data from a
mysql database and displays it in a table. However, the number of records
has gotten so large that retrieving all the data takes a lot of memory and
the browser freezes.
I been googling for a solution and some1 mentioned something called live
scrolling where the data is retrieved only when you scroll up or down.
Since am just an amateur and not familiar with XML, XSL, etc; can any1
recommend some link where i could find some JS script with such a feature?
one that's easy to get started with if possible...
i am new to Html and i am helping run a website for virtual golf. we were thinking of adding a Statistics page but would need the table used to be sortable so by hitting the header the column sorts the figures in order, the tablw would only be 50 rows and 8 columns. i have looked at the website [URL]../docs/but cant seem to sort out where to place things. a step by step guide would very much be appriciated.

I have some code which creates an extremely long table row, and I've been able to clean it up to a point where my performance is fairly decent. What I am trying to figure out is if its better in terms of speed to use divs as opposed to the really long table row. I didn't really find much on this topic online, so thought I'd ask out here.

I would like to modify a table. Painstakingly, I found that the table object is read-only with IE. As a workaround, I thought I'd create a new tbody object, and replace the old one with the new one. To populate the new tbody, I was going to use innerHTML.
