I'm trying to create/add options to select elements in a form. My form has several select elements, only first is actually populated and visible. Each select element is on a seperate table row. Depending on the option chosen in the first select list, another row (select element) becomes visible which is then populated depending on the option chosen. I have two dropdown lists, and I want to have each option from the first dropdown list to give the specific options on the second dropdown list. For instance,

Note: The option values are just examples, but each option must have a value in order for other things to work.
Here is what I need to do:

If TM3 is selected, all options in the dropdown "location" list are available.

In total, there are 12 modules and 20 locations. Each module image can only appear in one location at a time, but the options to select a location are restricted.
Am having difficulty creating a dynamic <select> element using direct

The browsers SEEM to be JavaScript1.1+ capable and the script that I
have works on every desktop-based browser, but not the PDA ones....

I am trying to add a dropdown list with the point values 1, 2, 3 ,4.If I use the number 1 from the dropdown for the first question, I need it to not allow the user to use that value again for questions 2, 3, and 4.

I tired a couple of different ways, but for some reason, it works fine
on IE but not on Firefox. On Firefox the second dropdown list doesnt
get populated.

I have a cgi script (using perl for database queries) in which I have two select boxes. I am populating the left select box with rows from a database, and then provide buttons for people to move items to the right select box.
So far so good, everything works, the move right, move left, and move right all and move left all buttons work, data is always sorted in both lists. My only problem is, when I click the submit button, the follow up program only displays data that was highlighted/selected in the right select box, not all of the data in the right select box.
I don't know how to tell the script, via javascript, to highlight everything in the right select box when the submit form button is clicked. I would think i could just call a function via -onClick for the submit button. I could use some help with the function to select all data in that list.
I am resorting to you for help with a html form that uses javascript to validate data. the form is an invoice for a trip order where the user can select a trip location out of a listbox, a number of people traveling, and where they wish to stay(ex. hotel, tent, etc.) after the user selects one for each category and hits the "add to invoice" button, the fields in the invoice should get filled with the corresponding information. Now my question is how can I write code that will insert information in the next row down after the previous row has been filled? basically what logic and programming structure do I need in my function that will know when the first row in the invoice is filled. I'm struggling at the part where when the "add to invoice" button is clicked. some data is added to the invoice, and if the user wants to book another trip, the second trip should be appended in the second row of the invoice. what is happening in mine is that whenever I book another trip, the first one gets overwritten when in fact it should be left intact and the data should get appended in the next row down.

I have this Applet-hosted Socket connection to my server and in an
ONevent/function I am retrieving all these lovely rows from the server and
inserting them into the Select-List. (The on screen appearance of the Select
List grows for the first 5 rows then the scroll bar appears if there's
more). So far so good. . .
The problem is that none of the rows I'm inserting appear on the screen
until I have RETURNed from my function; so If it ended up being 1000 rows
then the user sees nothing until they're *all* processed :-( Is this an
IE6-only thing? Does it happen with Version 7 or with other browsers? This
is disgusting!

Do I have to hack/force some sort of event (with coresponding ONfunction)
and then RETURN from my function and have the ensuing function call me back

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using dreamweaver cs5 and I have created a page that have a table that can check or uncheck certain option in each row..in every column, there is a main button ('m planning to add function in the main button to be check all or uncheck all - but I did not managed to do it right...there are errors)
For example:
Pulau Pinang button, when user click, it will check/uncheck all option under Pulau Pinang...same goes to other columns. After selecting their option, user can submit their option using submit button (option chosen can be in different columns). My problem is, my submit and reset button is not functioning besides, I'm not able to make the main button to check or uncheck all option..

I have a select and list of options. I have onkeypress event on the select input. As the user types I am trying to match the entered key strokes to the entries in the options and setting the selected value to the first match.
The problem I am facing is this: My options have 10000,0000, 10001, 1111,0001. Say I type 10, with less than one sec delay I consider them as one unit. So I try to find whether there are any entries in the options which starts with 10 and setting the value. But brower is considering the last entered key stroke , in this example 0 and setting the 0000 which is the first match.
Is there any way that I can stop the browser from doing that or any idea?
