how can you count something. I have A tags in a div. I want to count specific ones. the list is the order the client made. so I might name or id each a tag. but how can I count those tags. For instance lets say I got an a tag named apple. another named pineapple. I got 8 of each. how can I write jquery code to just look inside this div and count only the a tags named apple.?
I want to know how to account elements and arrays. the elements I want to count based on their value. how many there are. and then for the array I just want to count how many there are in a html array.
how could I count these? then how can I select the elements name that matches those values?
I am getting problem to count characters in textarea box. I create the array in form and tried to count the character in a textarea box. but its not work.

I have a long form in a tabbed interface, where I want to count the non blank fields on each tab (the form fields are text and checkbox inputs and multi & single select fields). The counting function is as follows:
// Input argument is a tab object function countFieldsOnTab(obj){ var counttext = obj.find('input:text[value!=""]').length;
[Code].....
The counts of text, checkbox and multi-select fields works, but the single select count doesn't return what I want. The default option in single selects is a default where the value is blank "<option value="">-- make a selection -- </option>. These will be found as selected options.
How do I count only those options have have a non-blank selection?
I'm trying to figure out how to make something happen only if there are more than one link inside a div.[code]For now I'm trying to make the little div with the class "cover caption" NOT move when there is only one link in the div.THe reason for this is that I want the whole div to be clickable if there is only one link inside.
This one is throwing me off! Either I am making a stupid mistake or I'm doing it totally wrong I have an array, and I am trying to select unique values from it and assign it to another array. Here is the code:
Code: var flag; for (i=0;i<=pdfs.length-1;i++) { flag = 1; for (j=0;j<=pdfs2.length-1;j++)
[Code]...
The problem is that the if (pdfs2[j] == pdfs[i]) statement ends up never being true. There are URL's to pdf files in the array. On the other side, if there is a much easier way to select unique values from an array, please feel free to point it out.
I'd like to reorganize the third, fourth, fifth and sixth, as well as any elements thereafter in an array in random order:
var a = new Array('first','second','third','fourth','fifth','s ixth','etc')
In other words, the first, second and third element should remain in position 0, 1 and 2, while the fourth, fifth and sixth, etc. should appear in random order.
I need a count down clock that will count down 18 minutes and reset itself at the end. also i need a counter that increases by +1 every 18 minutes starting at 0.
I wrote a simple code in javascript and it is working fine with IE and Firefox but the out put in php array count is correct in IE but not correct in Firefox
<script language="javascript"> var arrdimensions = { "codimesion":{"s":{'0':'dimesion1','1':'dimesion2','2':'dimesion3','3':'dimesion4','4':'dimesion5','5':'dimesion6','6':'dimesion7'},"c":1,"m":"50", "sc":1, "f":"nopcs[]"} }; function adddimensions(what) { [Code]...
I have basic JS knowledge. I am trying to organize a JS timer which counts down to a specific date. After the target date is meet the timer starts to count up. Can someone point me to a JS sample which executes this count-down+target-date+then-count-up theme?
Is it possible to have one of nine elements of an array, each containing code that will fill in a square in a tic-tac-toe game, randomly chosen then the code executed?
I tried the following code based on a post I saw [URL[ somewhere else about summing all the elements of an array together. When I tried it though I couldn't seem to get it working. what I did wrong or tell me a different way to sum array elements together?
<script type="text/javascript"> Array.prototype.sum = function() { for (var i = 0, L = this.length, sum = 0; i < L; sum += this[i++]); return sum;
how to do you add elements to an array? am looking at section dealing with arrays in JS Bible, can't find how you add to an array.. in the last few years I've been doing much more Java than JS, am used to Java, where you can't add elements to an array, but use a Vector instead.. and it's very easy to add to it (use add() method..) how to you add elements to an array in JavaScript..
I looked up array obj, don't see method to add to array.
How is the easiest way to find the number of entries in the array and how can iterate over each value to test if the given value matches another variable?
I am creating an array based on form elements. I then am trying to create an IF (and nested IF) statement to check if the fields are empty and then with the nested IF statement use certain fields to create mathematical functions.
So far I have this:
function QuantityMWh(form) { var formchk = document.forms[0] for (i = 0; i < formchk.elements.length; i++) { if (formchk.elements[1].value == "" && formchk.elements[2].value == "") {
[Code]....
It's only checking the first field and not the second, and vice versa. i.e. if only one field has text then it passes.
I am trying to add the elements in an array together and display the result, I am using a user prompt to obtain the elements for the array, this works fine but when I come to add the elements together and display the result all I get is a row of the elements not their sum. The user inputs are all integers (the program adds the prices of items together so they are all numbers,amounts). If the user enters 10, 15,15,20 the result I get is 10151520 not 60.
