Menu2=new Array("<img src='images/suserbtn.gif'>","http://","",0,0,122);

I'm using a javascript to center my absolutely-positioned left-aligned site. However, it's not perfectly centered in the browser and I'd like to fix it. I set the width to 788px (embedded Div Layout CSS). Here is the link to the site: [URL]
Below is the javascript code:
window.onresize=positionPage;
String.prototype.trim = function() { return this.replace(/^s+|s+$/, ''); };
function positionPage(){
Width = 0;
if(window.innerWidth){
Width = window.innerWidth;
}if(document.body.clientWidth){
Width = document.body.clientWidth;
}Left = Math.floor((Width - 992) / 2);
if(Left > 0){
document.getElementById("Div-Layout").style.left = Left + "px";
}}
<!--
function MM_reloadPage(init) {
//reloads the window if Nav4 resized
if (init==true) with (navigator) {
if ((appName=="Netscape")&&(parseInt(appVersion)==4)) {
document.MM_pgW=innerWidth; document.MM_pgH=innerHeight;
onresize=MM_reloadPage; }}
else if (innerWidth!=document.MM_pgW
|| innerHeight!=document.MM_pgH) location.reload();
}
MM_reloadPage(true);
//-->

Can anyone shed some light on the JavaScript support on many of the
most common mobile browsers (the newest versions of Blazer, Blackberry
and Pocket IE)? Specifically, I am trying to render some content using
innerHTML when the page loads without success. document.write is
supported but does not meet my needs.

How do I check if a browser supports an image using style before
writing it with document.write?
document.write("<img id='picture1' src='a.gif' alt='blah'
style='blah'>");
NN4 and Opera 6 throw a wobbler.
Also, what way is best to reference it?
document.getElementById('picture1')
or
document.images['picture1']

I am quite under the impression that I can make any CSS property work across the browser ( By that I mean IE6 ) using jquery. I guess I have written it right. Am I under wrong impression? I mean if it supports Opacity property, it might as well support min-width & min-height.

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to detect if a browser supports a specific URI scheme with javascript. So far the only close-but-wont-cut-it solution seems to be looping through navigator.plugins and check for plugins known to support these schemes, but that wont cut it (not maintainable, lacks perenity and have not found such a list). I have HTML anchor tags which use the geo [URL] and tel [URL] uri schemes. These are recognized by the iphone web browser (at least, tel I'm sure of) but not by the more general browsers.
If I click on any of these links in an nonsupporting browser of course, I get a nice browser alert box telling me the scheme isn't supported. But you cant trap that with javascript. I've tried fiddling around with window.navigator and even tried some iframe embedding magic to see if this would work, no success yet. What I want to do is detect I the scheme is supported and if not, prevent the links from a) appearing as links and b) be clickable. So far, I've been able to hack something out of firefox with this:
Code JavaScript:
(function(){
var schemes = ['aaa', 'aaas', 'acap', 'cap', 'cid',
'crid', 'data', 'dav', 'dict', 'dns', 'fax',
'file', 'ftp', 'go', 'gopher', 'h323', 'http',
'https', 'icap', 'im', 'imap', 'info', 'ipp',
'iris', 'iris.beep', 'iris.xpc', 'iris.xpcs', 'iris.lws', 'ldap',
'mailto', 'mid', 'modem', 'msrp', 'msrps', 'mtqp', .....

One friend asked me this question. He know vb, vba and some vb.net. Now he wants to do some scripting. The language he wants to learn is vbscritpt. I know there are a limited number of browsers support client-side vbscript, but don't know exactly which one, and how much market share they cover.

What is jQuery's long-term strategy for browser support - cut off browsers after a certain number of years or when going below a certain market share? [I'm asking because of the current trend among some webdevs and also
library developers advocating to remove IE6 support and force these users to upgrade their browser. I work with several clients that do not want to "lead the way" in this respect, and need to support IE6 as long as it has a fair usage share, which may be for several more

I'm trying to gather some information on any techniques or even plans to change the fundamental nature of the way the internet and http requests work. From both an advertising, and a usability perspective, the concept of a page load is becoming obsolete. Users expect instant results, and advertisers are becoming more concerned with time on site than they are with page views. You don't need a full page view to have an ad impression anyway. That said, there are plenty of techniques to make it so that your page can load new information without reloading the whole page. The problem is there doesn't seem to be any good way of making it so that AJAX calls can be linked to.
My site has a somewhat weak implementation of this: [URL]
Notice that it links you to the "APM" tab of that page, and if you click the other tabs they're all loaded via AJAX? You'll probably notice that initially it loaded the "Overview" tab, and after the page loaded, it then switched you to the APM tab. That's wonky behavior, and I don't like it, but there's not much that can be done about it as far as I know. The problem is, as far as I know, this deep linking technique becomes increasingly difficult to implement the more variations you have on a page's data.
For example, if you have pagination, then you need to make your deep linking code support all those variations as well. So my question is, is there a way to easily, FULLY AJAX a website, complete with the ability to deep link to any page state, without any wonky behavior (e.g. loading the "base page" first, and then after it's loaded, switching the data)? If not, has anyone heard of any plans to fundamentally rewrite the nature of HTML and HTTP requests so that web pages are no longer based on page loads, but state changes?

What I am looking for is to have a database hold a list of images ( or numbers that correspond to images)... that should be easy enough. The part I am having trouble with is having these images aligned in a grid which is inside a window /frame/ box on the web page. The user can click and drag and it will move around this collection of images.....
Like so (numbers represent images):
5 4 3
6 1 2
7 8 9
So if the user clicked and dragged to the right the images would then look like:
4 3 12
1 2 11
8 9 10
The new images are taken from the database and the user can drag in any direction.

I have two questions:
1) When you check my page you can see the slideshow not being aligned in the center at all but being left-aligned. Is there a way to nicely center the photos in the frame instead of them being left-aligned? Is this css related (I have set the containing div of my slideshow to float:left)?
2) I have the script from here. How can I create another slideshow with different pictures? Is this the instance they are talking about - but how can I enter different URL's?

I want to know the height of the viewable portion of a page (minus scrollbar)
in Opera and Mozilla.
For Opera, I could use document.body.clientHeight. Unfortunately, this won't
work in Mozilla because Mozilla also subtracts the sizes of the top and bottom
margins.
For Mozilla, I could use document.documentElement.clientHeight.
Unfortunately, this won't work in Opera because Opera returns the height of
the entire page, not just the viewable portion.
So I have two options:
1) Use browser detection code to determine if the user is running Opera or
Mozilla, and then use the appropriate clientHeight code.
2) Use window.innerHeight. This is supported by both Opera and Mozilla,
however it returns the height of the viewable portion of the page *including*
the scrollbar. Is there any way to determine the width of a scrollbar? If
not, then I would have to make an assumption and subtract the hardcoded width
of the scrollbar from window.innerHeight... but only if the scrollbar is
present, is there a way to determine that?

I'll be the first to admit, I am not skilled with javascript, but I can do a little work here and there. I remember learning there is a way to detect a user's/viewer's browser. Is there a possible javascript that allows me to detect a viewer's browser, the based on the browser, selects css/html to use so that the website is viewed correctly?
