I build a website with Typo3 and it works fine, except for the text size in Internet Explorer (and Opera). I tried anything from changing the CSS templates (excluding them) to changing px to pt to em and so. Finally, I think i need a Javascript that detects the browser and if it is Internet Explorer (or Opera) the textsize should be reduce by 1. It therfore should be the same like manually clicking in IE on View->text size -> smaller (default is medium).
My javascript (I just use Javascript for this single purpose) does not work/it does not do anything:
function resizeText(){ if (browserName=="Microsoft Internet Explorer") {document.body.style.fontSize = parseFloat (document.body.style.fontSize) -1 ;}}
I'm having a bit of an issue with the site I'm building at the moment. It's currently under [url] with the CSS at [url] and the relevant jQuery file at [url] If you're using Firefox or Chrome you'll see that upon clicking the tabs, the image and text all changes. However in Internet Explorer the text doesn't change, it merely adds onto itself (This will be a lot clearer if you check it out on the site.)
I have 2 monitors with a different resolution. It is important in yapplicationthat I get the screen size of the monitor wherethe webbrowser is located. When I try to get the screen size (window.screen.height + window.screen.width) only IE gives me always the screen size of the main monitor where my taskbar (windows7) is located, instead of the screen size of the secondary screen where the webbrowser is located. It does work in all other webbrowsers .
I have created a page with an alert on JSbin.com to show you your screen resolution. If you use 2 monitors open the page in one of the monitors. You will notice you will get the screen resolution of the screen where your web browser is located, except in IE (hoera!)
I'm not sure if this is possible, but I'm looking for a way to access another IE browser window using JavaScript (assuming the two browser windows are running in the same instance).
The purpose of this task is so that if a user hits ctrl+n in IE, the new window is "aware" of the other instance.
I am making a website with a nice picture slide.The slide has arrows on the left and right and I want them toadjustto the size of the active image.Here is the link to the site:http://dergebauer.test6002.info/projekt.htm?id=029&from=matr&category=sonderloesungenIt works everywhere except in IE.I also tried to rebuild the error on a dummy site...but everything worked.
i've a problem using the change-handler in a simple html-formular. the change-handler fires twice when the input-field already defines an onChange-Event.
Example: in head of html: <script src="jquery-1.4.2.js" language="javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#abc").change(function(event){event.srcElement.style.borderColor='red'; });});
I'm trying to put in place a file upload validation check. So at the client-side, the User selects a file. Before uploading, at the GUI, if the file exceeds an imposed limit, it will prompt the User that it exceeds the permitted size for upload.
And if it is within the permitted size, the full file path of the file to be uploaded will then be obtained and then used for the actual upload to the Server.
My program is built on EXTJS and Java, running using Tomcat. Browser restricted to Internet Explorer 7 only.
My example code causes the following problem in Internet Explorer (at least, in version 6): it causes an unwanted cursor change when the button is clicked. DETAILS: Using my example code, here is what happens (step-by-step in chronological order): (1) the user hovers the mouse over the button, which causes the cursor to be a hand; (2) the user clicks the button; (3) the browser does its image-related activity; (4) immediately after step 3 is entirely completed (in other words, after the browser finishes loading an available image or after the browser times out from attempting to find an unavailable image), the cursor changes from a hand to an arrow if the mouse is kept still; (5) if the mouse is then moved while staying over the button, the cursor will change back to a hand.
As I said, in step 4, the cursor changes from a hand to an arrow if the mouse is kept still. I consider that to be a problem because I want the cursor to *always* be a hand when it is over the button. And, indeed, that should be the expected behavior due to the CSS code (style="cursor:pointer") in the button tag.
QUESTION #1: The problem occurs in IE6, which is the only version of IE available to me. Does the problem also occur in later versions of IE? (The problem does not occur in Firefox.)
So this works just fine in FF. In IE7 I am getting this error. I can see my content load in the background, when I hit ok it takes me to a page cannot be displayed page. If I comment out:
Is there a way to get the style element text ("body { background-color...") in internet explorer?The following example works in FF but in IE it gives the following error:Unexpected call to method or property.
Does jquery have an event defined for when the user changes the size of his browser window? I couldn't find one, but sometimes I don't see the forest for the trees.
I have an XHTML STRICT page which has some event listeners attached for onload and resize. I'm doing a bit of Javascript DHTML on these events. When a user changes the browser font size, the javascipt function needs to run. Although the TOPMENU DIV gets resized when the font changes size, its not a page resize so the function doesn't get run. I fixed this in IE6 by using a second function which is run onload and sets an event on the div object in the page after its been defined.
Problem is this doesn't work in Firefox.
Mozilla DOM reference says there is no resize event on a DIV so is there a work around to make it work in FIREFOX? i.e. can I force a resize event to happen on a div in firefox or is there some other event I can trap when a user changes the browser font size?
here's my js code: topmenu is what I'm trying to trap the resize event from.
What do you call that whereas when you have a anchor a little yellow pop up with a name ? If anyone has an example so that I can relate to what I'm exactly looking for, and can you change the text size of the words ?
The window.onresize is not called (in Mozilla) when changing the text size on the browser (crtl + or View/Text Zoom).
Is the xAddEventListener function usefull ? What does the "For some browsers the window.onscroll and window.onresize events are simulated." mean ?(found in the X Library function reference).
I'm having trouble figuring out what's going on with IE6's Msxml2.XMLHTTP object. I have two feed addresses in this stripped down version of my code below. Both work fine in Firefox (using the XMLHttpRequest object), but only the thinkgeek one works in IE. In the processFeed function, it shows the problem - the first alert shows 0 for the wikihow feed in IE, though it can still display the responseText. Any insight? Code:
i want to run a bit of js not in ie but in all others within some js i'm doing.is this the way to do it? (got this from o'reilly's js;definitive guide book):
Code: /*@cc_on @if( @_jscript ) ; // nothing for internet explorer[code]....
how should braces be in that, if they should at all? i mean if i wanted multiple lines of js code in the either non-ie or ie blocks how and where would {}'s go?also does that work for ie8?
my site seems to be working perfectly on firefox but when I access it on internet explorer everything loads fine but there is a yellow marker on the status bar of IE saying there are errors on the page. I copied the source into dreamweaver to check for browser specefic bugs but the only bugs that came up were that in Netscape. So any idea why this is happening? The link to my site is in my profile.
I am having trouble with Internet Explorer AGAIN.How do you use the setTimeout for it?This is what I am using and it is working on all of the other browser:Code:setTimeout("growContact(" + (height+20) + ")", 0);
All my font-sizes are set as relative sizes in CSS (large, medium, small, x-small, etc). Let's say something is set in CSS to be xx-large, but a visually impaired user wants it displayed even bigger. Can a script determine an element's absolute size, *as it is being rendered by the browser*, and then increment the element's font-size in absolute terms?
I'm attempting to make a web page that adapts to the size of your browser size when it maximized. Because I'm only 15 I'm not such a great programmer or coder. I've done my best with the resources I have though (Fluent in Lua and a natural ability to pick languages syntax up quickly)
Here is what I have so far, it doesn't work and it is starting to puzzle me. As it seems correct as I look at it. I'm sorry if this question show my ignorance. I try my best to hide it.
Some of it is Copy pasted from sources on Google. But only for educational purposes, I learn off reading, examining and testing out snippets.
I'm basically trying to get the max size of the window and resize the div accordingly.
I have a problem, and maybe someone knows the solution.
Context : - Browser : IE 6.0 - Application server : Livewire Pro - Client OS : Windows 98 SE - Server OS : NT4 - I have a frameset, including several pages, but only one will be used for the example. -------- | a | -------- | b | -------- - a form on the main page (a.html i.e.) - a data is manually typed, then I submit the form => the action will redirect to a new page (c.html) - on this new page, I do a history.go(-1), so I'm back on the a.html page, and the data is still there (it's ok) - cache parameters : "check on every page visited"
Problem : - From the main page, if a popup gives the data to the form, so after the submit and the history.go(-1), the form contains NO data !!!
So, the data is lost when the data input is not made by hand.
I have no troubles with Netscape/Mozilla, but only with IE.
