Automatic Lightbox Popup After Page Loaded?
Dec 30, 2009
I have the lightbox working properly on the site but actually want it to pop up/open automatically, say after 2 seconds after the page is loaded and without having to trigger it by klicking a href link. I noticed daniweb has exactly the same function here on this site! What code would I need to add to make this happen?

What's the keyword that produces an automatic popup at the end of a script?
I'd like to use it for debugging.

I am making a simple lightbox without using the silly plugins and I want to know how to make the lightbox resize equally when its being loaded. I can only get it expand from the corner, I want it to stretch down then widen but equally on both sides.
This is the code im using:
// Javascript
<script language="javascript">
$(function(){
$("a#show-panel").click(function(){
$("#lightbox, #lightbox-panel").animate({"height" : "400px"},2000);
$("#lightbox, #lightbox-panel").animate({"width" : "400px"},2000);
});
$("a#close-panel").click(function(){
$("#lightbox, #lightbox-panel").fadeOut(300);
});
});
</script>
// CSS
#lightbox {
display:none;
background:#000000;
opacity:0.9;
filter:alpha(opacity=90);
position:absolute;
top:0px;
left:0px;
min-width:100%;
min-height:100%;
z-index:1000;
#lightbox-panel {
display:none;
position:fixed;
top:100px;
left:50%;
margin-left:-200px;
background:#FFFFFF;
padding:10px 15px 10px 15px;
border:2px solid #CCCCCC;
z-index:1001;
}
// HTML
<a id="show-panel" href="#" class="small">Show Panel</a>
<div id="lightbox-panel">
<h2>Lightbox Panel</h2>
<p>You can add any valid content here.</p>
<p align="center">
<a id="close-panel" href="#" class="small">Close this window</a>
</p>
</div><!-- /lightbox-panel -->
<div id="lightbox"> </div><!-- /lightbox -->

I have a few hundred popups that I am trying to change to a "lightbox" style solution:
The new colorbox popup solution works well, but in some browsers - notably IE - it conflicts with the SIDE MENU routine I use.
I think the menu is old code, but it works. However, to get the new "lightbox-style" popup to work in IE, I have to include <!DOCTYPE html>.
In the other browsers, omitting the declaration apparently solves the conflict problem (but I feel it ought to be there).
I really don't know what to do. Tinker with the side menu code?
Here is a demo with the <!DOCTYPE html> declaration: [url]...and without it: [url]
I have tried with a full declaration but it makes no difference at all. And further reading online suggests <!DOCTYPE html> is OK.

I have a client which would like to use Adobe Contribute to maintain their website, and the website requires popup windows (for larger images) or a lightbox feature. The problem is how do I make images popup into new windows, without toolbars, etc. I would prefer lightbox than popup windows, if possible. How I can do this, so the client can add more images, as they maintain their website? For anyone that hasn't used Contribute, you can only edit <a href="page.htm"> and nothing else for the links, so it means onclick can't be added to <a href="page.htm">. The only way to add a link is to click on a button in the tools.

I run an adult social network. I'm trying to have a lightbox disclaimer popup once per user visit with an accept/decline button at the bottom. I don't want the user to be able to click out of the lightbox, scroll the window in the back ground, or get around the lightbox any other way... Currently, I paid someone to do this for me and this is the code they came up with. The problem is, all it does is show a white box in the middle of the page, no disclaimer, no content. Also, the webpage in the background is still scrollable...

I'm writing a script, part of which calls an AJAX request to populate a table. This script runs when the page is first loaded and when different buttons are clicked on the page (I won't go into the details here). It works just fine when the page is first loaded, but whenever the function is called from any other event on the page (onclick, etc) it performs the function, but then proceeds to reload the whole page!
I've spent a long time debugging and trying to figure out exactly where the trouble is starting, and the only thing I can think is that some sort of "reload page" command is being sent to the browser somewhere that I'm not seeing. In Firefox, after the request is complete and the response data is written to the page, the page reloads. However, in Safari, the page reloads after the readyState is 1, so the request hasn't even been sent yet.
Here is the offending function:
Javascript Code:
function fillLogTable(date, org, poc, name)
{
document.getElementById("visitLogTableDiv").innerHTML = "<br />Loading...";
//fetch the logs
[Code]....

I've made this javascript portion to a site for a company that I am working for and I'd like to use it to fill in a form on another part of the website. Unfortunately we bought the rest of the website from basically like a web template company so they wont let us change the script on that actual page. Is there anyway that I can take my info from my javascript page, then use it to fill in the info on the other page without actually editing the html of that page?

I am working on a page that will load in other pages using AJAX and the .html method. Something like this :
<span id = "edit">Edit</span>
<div id = "cont">
</div>
//the click edit script
[Code]....
Unfortunately this does not seem to work, entirely. It does trigger the click event but it messes up the post for some reason. I have played around with it for the last 45 minutes or so and it seems like the click event trigger is what is messing things up, if I comment it out it works fine. Could anyone tell me why they think this is? note this is an over simplified version of my actual code, but the structure is the same.

On my webpage, I dynamically create an iFrame when a button is pressed, then load a html page from within my own domain into the iframe, based on what html page is loaded into a variable. My question is, can I dynamically change the font family of the loaded html page from the javascript of the main page? My code to create the iframe is:
function setSubTxt(){
var par = document.getElementById('parentDiv');
par.innerHTML = '<iframe src="'+subTxt+'" style="width: 375px; position: fixed; height: 365px; left: 400px; top: 145px; border=none;" name="subIframe" frameBorder=0></iframe>';
frames['subIframe'].window.location=subTxt;
document.subIframe.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Arial";
[Code]....
the variable "subTxt" has the url of the html page to be loaded (always on the same domain). The code: document.subIframe.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Arial"; was my attempt to dynamically change the font, but it didn't work. Also, it should be noted that there is no font family set in the html pages which would override this.

Recently, I've tried to use FancyBox (a zooming lightbox script - affects every image link of a given parent id) on a page where contents are loaded dynamically with jquery.
I init fancybox at the loading of the needed section - then, I click on the image link, fancybox's darker overlay appears for a sec, but then the target image itself loads (as if no script would be there). As it seems, FB was initalized, but is somehow not working... js debug shows nothing wrong.
Since the whole page is loaded dynamically with jquery, I can't really separate the problem - the script is working good when it's in static context. Before, I used a quite similar script FancyZoom, that worked without problem...
I've uploaded a working template below, if someone could give it a quick peek: [url] (on the site click the green, then the purple rectangle. the init can be found in js/script.js, in InitThree function)

Is there a way to fix the existing slideshow to work with lightbox? Or is there another way of doing this (keeping the same look that is currently in place)?

I'm trying to load a page using the .load(url) from an already loaded page, but nothing responds. Below is a simple sample page created to show what I want to accomplish. Also, I'm using JQuery 1.3.
index.html
When the index.html page loads up, the page01.html loads into #mainview. And when I try to click on the <div id="clickme">Click Me!</div> inside page01.html to load page02.html, nothing works. Just can't figure out what's wrong...

If you need to load a page and then add a light box to it be sure that the whole page is loaded before you add the lightbox or it will not function.
In your description you add the lightbox and the load some content. The content are not in the dom when you add the lightbox so the lightbox don't know what to add it's function onto.

I'm trying to add the lightbox plugin to a page and when the image is clicked the overlay and corresponding image are pushed to the bottom of the page wit the image below the overlay. The gallery div is nested inside a couple other divs and when the gallery images are clicked the overlay and lighbox divs are pushed to the bottom of the page instead of being absolutely positioned over the existing content. If anyone has some ideas on how to fix this I would like to hear them.
