Replace Instead Of Append The Contents Of Div?

Mar 23, 2011

I have the following code in a website which is the W3C method of loading XML/XSL via Javascript. The code works perfectly except as you can see from the last line of code it appends the fixed div. This is not suitable as I need the site to overwrite the contents of the fixed div (not append). How could I rewrite that last line of code so that the data within the fixed div is rewritten with the contents of resultDocument. innerHTML doesn't work since the content of resultDocument is an XML file.

xsltProcessor=new XSLTProcessor();

Analyze The Contents Of A Textbox And Replace The Contents With The Appropriate Date?

Jul 15, 2009

I'm looking for javascript to analyze the contents of a textbox and replace the contents with the appropriate date. To make that a little clearer, if the user types 'tomorrow' then when they tab/move onto the next text box the 'tomorrow' text should be replaced with the date for tomorrow in the format dd/mm/yyyy, if the user enters '1 week' then the text should be replaced with the date in one week in the format dd/mm/yyyy etc.

DOM: How To Append To Node'd Contents?

Jul 23, 2005

This question refers to the DOM. I would like to dynamically append
some small amount of text to the all-text content of a <pre> node.
I suppose that I could extract the existing content, and replace
the <pre> node in question with a new <pre> node that has the
extended content. But the existing content is longish, and it
seems to me wasteful to rewrite it all just to have a small amount
of text tacked on to the end. Is there a way to simply append the
new text to the node's contents?

JQuery :: Unable To FadeIn Append Contents

Feb 20, 2010

So, this is my first attempt at writing jQuery on my own. I put together a fading menu of sorts if you want to call it that. The problem that I am having is everything fades fine except the image I am appending to the end of the links. It fades out great, but I cannot get fadeIn to work at all.

Dynamically Replace Table Contents

Feb 17, 2005

ok basically i want to move two rows in a table.
for example i have the table:

1 name1 address1
2 name2 address2
3 name3 address3
4 name4 address4

and i'd like a javascript function to which i could pass a line number, a destination number, and it would then reorganize the table accordingly.
example: rebuildtable(4,2) would result in:

1 name1 address1
4 name4 address4
2 name2 address2
3 name3 address3

and rebuildtable(1,4) in:

2 name2 address2
3 name3 address3
4 name4 address4
1 name1 address1

I have tried a method using innerHTML, I seem to be able to access <tr>s' innerhtml (if i do an alert on them i can see their current status), however when i want to replace one tr with some other html it fails for some reason.

Getting Rid Of An Append Item

Jan 6, 2010

I have and ul list and in the ul at the top level it has a / behind each of the main items. I do want that, but it is also putting the / behind the items that are sub to the main items. I don't want that.

My question is how do I remove the append / from the sub items? The sub items would be li ul li.

For my code I have this:

$("#dropdown li:not(:last)").append("<span style='font-size:.9em; font-weight:bold; position: relative; top: 0px; padding: 0 5px 0 5px; color:#000;'>/</span>");

Append More Than 2 Variables In URL?

Feb 15, 2012

i am trying to append more than 2 variables in URL using location.href in javascript. Here is the code:

location.href='Add_New_Project.php?project_name=' + project_name + '&cat=' + val + '&prj_desc=' + project_desc;

The page is suppose to refresh when the code executes, but it wouldn't. Whereas if i try it with only two variables minus these ('&prj_desc=' + project_desc), it actually reloads and give me the right answer:

location.href='Add_New_Project.php?project_name=' + project_name + '&cat=' + val;

JQuery :: How To Append A Value

Jan 4, 2009

I am trying to append a value in jQuery, and whilst this is a simple task with .append() it won't work like I wan't it too.I have a sign up page, with 'Name' as a field. Depending on the value of this (empty or having valid characters in it) either a helpful hint, or a congratulatory message will be displayed. This is handeld in an function, triggered on the .blur() of the input field. What I want to do however, is place the value of this input into the congratulatory text. Of course, running this from the .blur() function, doesn't work, as each time the input is blurred, the value get's added on an extra time. How can I get jQuery to add the value only once?I tried writting a couple of if / else statements, but I couldn't get it to work as I expected (it either didn't add them full stop, or continued the above behavior!).

Append To The End Of The Document?

Apr 10, 2006

I want to load completely file1.htm and, after that, to append file2.htm to the end of the file1.htm file, in the same browser's page.

I was thinking to make a function, called loadme, and to call that function like this:
<html onload = "loadme ()">

What I don't know is how to make loadme to read the file2.htm file (I heard that JavaScript is not allowed to read files - is this true?) and how to append it to file2.htm.

How To Append Instead Of Replacing

Jan 29, 2007

I got a javascript code that displays new text boxes when someone clicks on a button. Here is the code that goes into the header:

<script type="text/javascript">
function dispMoreFiles() {
var upbox = "<INPUT name='numbers[]' TYPE='text' size=&#3930;'><br>";
var updiv = document.getElementById("morefiles");
if (boxct<9) {
var addhtml = updiv.innerHTML+upbox;
updiv.innerHTML = addhtml;
} else {

I use this simple code in the body to make use of it:

<input type="text" name="numbers[]" size="30">
<div id="morefiles">

<input name="add" type="button" value="Click To Add Another Box">

Now, if I add another box, then type some text into it, then add another box, the box I just typed into is replaced with a new box, and a new box is added. How do I just make it add a new text box instead of replacing a current one?

Use And Append Data To A Div?

Jan 4, 2010

When I tried to use it and append data to a div, it works fine. With that said, I was wondering if it can be used to simulate, for instance, a php include file. Such as:

var id= $("#field_id").val();

no appending it to a div for display, just good old fashion "include the contents of this php file, with a querystring appended to it"
