I am having some trouble with creating cookies and getting them to work for an onclick event. What I am trying to do is create a button to store cookies containing all user information with an alert message and set the expiration date one day after the visit. (This is just a project I am working on to help me understand how to create cookies.)Below is the cookies code I came up with but it doesn't seem to be functioning at all.

When A User Enters Information In Those Two Textboxes And Click On Submit, The Information Is Sent To A Function?

When a user enters information in those two textboxes and click on submit, the information is sent to a function in Javascript. The problem is as follows:When I am inputting string text in the html text boxes and in the javascript when I am trying to print those values, it is giving me out an error saying NaN. Store The Values Entered During Runtime In The Select Box?

Jan 20, 2010

I have a web page that has a select box and a textbox to add data into the select box. What I want to do is when I enter some data say a "valid date" in the textbox and click on Add button it should copy the same to the textbox such that ,when I navigate to a different link in the web interface and visit the same page again, the value that I had entered earlier should remain in the select box and be visible.

I have been able to copy the data from the textbox to the select box, but when I revisit the same page the value entered earlier does not remain in the page. Once the values are stored in the select box, those values in the select box should be copied to a structure written in C language in the backend.Can anyone tell me how can I store the values entered during runtime in the select box using javascript.

Best Way To Store Information?

Aug 24, 2010

I am currently in the process of writing an interactive calendar in jscript. It's my first major project so bear with me please, I'm quite new :P.

I was hoping to add a section of code to the calendar which would allow me to display events happening on a certain date and add new ones etc.

However I was not sure how best to store the information as I know javascript is not 'designed' to access files. I was wondering maybe a cookie or learning how to use SQL? Or is there something that I haven't come accross yet?

Remove HTML Tagging From User Entered Data?

Dec 7, 2011

I have a website where people can create posts similar to FB(I hate that example but it's widely known) -- how do I strip HTML tagging out of the post before I put it in my db? (I'm using AJAX atm).The obvious crossed my mind with replacing "<" and/or ">" but I want those chars to be available when posting -- is there a way to do this or a way to print the data to my page as text even if it has those tags?

Dynamically Add Textbox For User Entry And Saving Data Entered?

May 5, 2009

I have an ASP page that displays, along with other data, a list of items that refer to a specific element in a database. Instead of adding an Add button, I would like to display a text box below the last item in the list to have the user input any new data. Once they enter the data and hit Enter, the data they enter should then be added to the list and another text box added beneath this item (just as forms and tables in Access do). However, I'm not sure how to implement this functionality.

Preserve User-entered Quote Marks In Form Fields?

Apr 10, 2010

I have a JavaScript application that needs to preserve double quote marks and apostrophes (" and ') that are entered into form fields by the user. The form data is passed through several screens using hidden fields.

Right now, apostrophes work because I have the input fields coded as value="". I have not found a way for JavaScript to retrieve the field's value if double quotes are entered by the user. If I change the parameter to value='' (single quotes) then the apostrophes probably won't work.

Is there a straightforward way for JavaScript to retrieve the field value containing quotes, so that I can manipulate it into a different string that can be easily passed between HTML pages?

Unable To Customize The Script So It Pulls Custom User Info From The Joomla DB?

May 5, 2009

I'm currently working on an AJAX chat room (jpfchat), which is basically phpfreechat integrated with Joomla. The right column of the room shows current users in the room and refreshes dynamically via AJAX so when new users come in, everyone's session shows the new visitor. I want to be able to customize the script so it pulls custom user info from the Joomla DB. I'm attempting to do this using AJAX.

I located the part of the script that generates the list of usernames. Basically it's a 'for' loop that spits out html using javascript and the JSON response. I've appended a line to this section to execute my custom script. The problem I'm having is that while everything works great on IE, it only works on Safari if I DON'T use asynchronous and it DOESN'T work on EITHER Safari or Firefox if I DO use asynchronous.

Check Numbers Entered

Jul 23, 2005

I am constructing an HTML questionnaire and one of the questions
requires people to rate some choices from 1 to 5, where 1 is their
favourite and 5 is their least favourite:

Car
Bus
Taxi cab
Train
Airplane

Each choice has an INPUT TYPE=TEXT tag to contain the response. I
also have a function that is called ONCHANGE in order to check that a
number is entered between 1 and 5:

function CheckNos(obj) {
if(obj.value.match(/[^d]/) || obj.value<1 || obj.value>5)
{alert("Please enter a number between 1 and 5");obj.value="";return
false}
}

This works fine, but ideally I would like a function that could check
ONCHANGE that someone has not filled in the same number twice, for
example answered "1" for all of them. They are only allowed to use
each rating number once, so rating their choice 1 to 5.

Can anyone suggest a short function that could accomplish this easily?
Could I use some kind of array with 5 elements and allocate a flag
value once that number had been chosen, then check that the value had
been set?
