I need to delay a page from opening a new window for a minimum of 5 seconds to allow some php processing (inserting a new record into a table) to occur first. the open window code works fine without the time delay, but as soon as i attempt to put a delay in, nothing happens eg, the page no longer opens a new window called newrecord.php.
I have a page displayuser.php. This page is actually displaying a list of users and at each displyed user there is a drop down list is displayed. The drop down list displays chat animators. When i choose a animators from the
drop downlist, it displays a pop up window with the chosen chat animator and the selected user to chat. When i choose another user to chat, the new pop up window override/reopen on the first pop up window.
Me i want it to display several pop up windows when different users are selected.
I need three tabs out of which only one is open at a time n when u open another tab, one out of the earlier closed one should open(preferably with mootools). And also the tab which is opened should come at the top of the page as well.
I have a drop down menu system, however at the moment when you accidently leave the drop-down, it disappears straight away. I would like there to be a half a second delay before it goes away, any idea how I might add this to the onmouseout function?
I've got a selection of 4 images/banners there all the same size and fit into the website layout perfectly, what I'm after is a small bit of java that will change the image from 1 - 4 and then loop to do it again all on a timed delay.
The code I'm using was pulled from a slide show exsample and i've just removed asmuch of the code as was possible.
I am using jquery validation plugin successfully to validate certain fields against my server. The thing is sometimes user types too fast, and the validation plugin sends the word if not equal to the previously sent word. This causes some problems with my mod-evasive that I run in apache. Is there anyway to slow down these requests, or say post to server each 300ms. The jquery UI autosuggest has this feature, where you can set a delay time.
Is there another JS function that I can use to force a time delay without having the code continue to run? I'm using the setTimeout() function but the call to this function doesn't stop the code flow. I need to stop the code flow while waiting. I guess I need a Sleep() type of JS function. What I'm trying to do is display some blank text on the screen using a for loop (I'm using <BR> to give the appearance of "opening up" a vertical window section in the browser) and I need this 'text' to complete before allowing the following code in the function to execute. The following code will display a Table with rows of data. I'm trying to use a timing function to give a visual impression of a window opening up just before the data displays.
I have a problem on the links on my page im working.sorry guys still a noob and my english is not that good. :b. my question is like i have a list of packages of food. [link_a] [link_b] [link_c] and i have a function that i put in my head tag:
function linkA() { window.open('link_a.html','link','width=300,height=200,resizable=yes'); }
now i can go to linka.html by click my link <A HREF="javascript:linkA()" >link a</A> is there a way i can have one functions that can open a link depend on what page .when it clicks then go to its designated page or i have to stick on writing function for linkB ,C,D and so on.
The reasoning behind this is because I am unable to modify the page that the frame is calling and a pop-up needed to be loaded in front of it. The problem is, when this page is run the pop-up comes into focus, but when the frame called URL is finished loading, the pop-up is pushed to the back. I cannot seem to find a way to make it focus and I think that delaying the pop-up from lauching would solve this problem but I have been unable to properly implement it.
Trying to learn the basics... Here is a script for three toggle buttons that each when clicked open their corresponding divs. Fine. Now how does one go about automatically closing an open div when clicking on a new 'toggler' that opens it's div? I see other posts about this very question, but I'm just not grasping the logic.
I have a HTML and I am opening another link in a separate window using window.open() . The child window is something like 'http://yahoo.com' which is out side html. I need to refresh the parent window when the child window is closed.
The problem is that someButton is never disabled, because the browser is busy thinking in cpuIntensiveCode. Indeed, if I don't reenable someButton in the finally part, it waits until cpuIntensiveCode is over to disable someButton.
The only way to disable someButton before cpuIntensiveCode is to force the browser to redraw the window (eg: by putting an alert(...) just after someButton is disabled).
I don't want a useless alert popping every time I run cpuIntensiveCode. Does someone know a way to force the redraw of the browser window (not reloading the page, just redrawing it)?
I guess this is an easy question for all javascripters but I don't know how to manage (I'm pretty fresh with JS). I found two solutions on this forum but it seems that they don't work(?).I want to delay for few seconds window.location.href="destination_site.html" before it will automatically take visitor to destination site. It has something to do with setTimeout but I would be greatful for posting a fixed code.
Through window.open or window.showmodaldialog, I want to open a word or excel document in Print Preview mode. Bcos I don't want the user to make any changes or save it but the user can ONLY VIEW OR take a print out.
I'm using an <A> tag with an onclick event to open a window with JS (window.open)... In FIREFOX, if I click very quickly, multiple windows open. Not a problem in IE.
in the above i'm getting the following error: "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (c) isnt associated with any program"
window.open() doesn't open an entirely new window in FF3.6, just a new tab
Edit: Yeah, ok, so if i specify a size smaller than the current standard window, it'll be forced to open a new window. but what if i want a new standard sized window to open entirely?
