View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm attaching my php test file but this is a JS problem. When I scroll down in the web page and the meta refresh hits, in Windows Safari and IE6/7/8 browsers, the web page re-positions back to the top. In Opera and FF the page refreshes but it stays where it is. Can someone look at my test script and see why it is not working in IE and Win Safari? My goal is to have the web page not re-position to the top on the auto refresh.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've used the ScrollTo plugin for header images for each topic and I have created a menu to change the content in the div(s) that contain readable content with ajax, so it looks like different pages with headers using the one page.
everything works well, but on browser refresh the page jumps down after the menu and on to the header.
Would anyone know a script that would deactivate all anchor links in the page so that page onload the page loads as default index.html instead of index.html#some_anchor
I have a selection tag that has a list of dates for data collection, user selects a date and the pages refreshes to display data on a map problem is that the user's selected item in the selection is not preserved during the refresh and the selection drop-down refreshes to the first item of the list. How can I preserve the selected item in the drop-down after page refresh?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIm fairly new to JQuery and need some help. Googling failed me :o have a web page that initially auto refreshes every 30 secs and has a bunch of checkboxes that are initially unchecked. I am trying to make it so that if at least one of those boxes it checked the page stops auto refreshing (without reloading the page, preferably). Is this at all possible? I am using Perl to generate the html.
My auto refresh is in the header, but im open to sticking it somewhere else, as long as it doesnt create crazy memory consumption that i've read about on these forums:<head

I have a form that has some fields and inputs . I wrote some javascript code that if there was any problem with entered values , it shows the errors but when the user press submit button , the form submited before it had shown the problems .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a simple comment application running on the local Google webapp framework test server, and I'm trying to validate the form w/ Javascript before it gets input to the server and throws an error.
The problem is that the code seems to go through anyway... the Javascript never stops the code from being sent to the server.
I've already checked that Javascript is working on the application, so it must be that my Javascript validation code is bad.
The code is meant to check that the Name field is not empty and that it doesn't have more than 20 characters in it. ("push" is the id for the Submit button, and "name" is the id for the Name input field.)
window.onload = function(){
button = "document.getElementById('push')"
name = "document.getElementById('name')"
button.onsubmit = function Validate(){

I have a form that submits on the user hitting the return key instead of the submit button. Searching revealed a javascript to stop it but it only works in IE not Firefox/Mozilla.
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!-- Begin
function onKeyPress () {
var keycode;
if (window.event) keycode = window.event.keyCode;
else if (e) keycode = e.which;
else return true;
if (keycode == 13) {
alert("Please Click ONCE on the Submit button to send this");
return false
}
return true
}
document.onkeypress = onKeyPress;
// End -->
</script>
There are several forms on this page and I have absolutely no control over them. The page is provided by a 3rd party and all we can do is add javascript.
The form is a google checkout. I need to halt submission (preventDefault) do some stuff and continue the submittion of that form.
This is what I have:
The FORM:
The SCRIPT:
I am new to javascript. I was trying to passe text input to javascript. But code is not working.
Here is the code
<script type="text/javascript">
function val(){
if(document.a.email.value=="" ||document.a.email.value==null ){
alert("sssss");
return false;
}
if(document.a.email.value!="" ||document.a.email.value!=null ){
alert("sssss"+document.a.email.value);
return true;
}}
</script>
And here is the HTML code,
<form action="a.php" method="POST" onsubmit="return val();">
<strong>E-Mail Address</strong> *</td><td><input name="email" type="text" value="" />
<input type="submit" value="submit" />
</form>
Any reason not to view the alert message.. and I want if the email is null to stop submitting the data to a.php.
I want to refresh the calculations on a form without submitting the form. I have tried two different JavaScript button codes, and I'm wondering if there is a reason for using one over the other, and if there is something else better for cross-browser use.
1) [ICODE] _doClick('$Refresh', this, '_self')
2) [ICODE] _doClick('$Refresh', this, null, null)
I've been doing PHP for a couple months, but just came across jquery today. I'm making a wedding-registry-style wishlist site for the holidays, and one of my pages is a list of all the items on your wishlist for you to modify.
Here is my jquery script, which I had learned from a tutorial:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$(".submit1").click(function() {
var item_name = $("#item_name").val();
var item_notes = $("#item_notes").val();
var imgid = $("#imgid").val();
var price = $("#item_price").val(); .....
var dataString = 'item_name='+ item_name + '&imgid=' + imgid + '&price=' + price + '&item_notes=' + item_notes;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "edit.php",
data: dataString,
success: function(){
$('.success').fadeIn(500).fadeOut(500);
}});
return false;
});
});
</script>
My forms are structured like so:
// PHP WHILE STATEMENT
// Retrieve data about item
<form>
<input type="hidden" name="imgid" id="imgid" value="<?=$imgid?>">
<input name="item_name" type="text" id="item_name" value="<?=$item_name?>" />
<input name="item_notes" type="text" id="item_notes" value="<?=$item_notes?>" />
<input name="item_price" type="text" id="item_price" value="<?=$price?>" />
<input type="image" class="submit1" src="images/edit_item.png" border="0" />
<span class="success" style="display:none">Item updated!</span>
</form>
// END WHILE STATEMENT
Now, the problem is obviously that when this HTML code gets repeated, all the forms have the same input IDs. I tried adding numbers to the form using php, so it would be something like "item_name1", "item_name2", "item_name3", etc depending on the form, but then I realized I don't know how to pass parameters into the jquery function.
Is there any way to do this? So that it's something like...
$(function() {
$(".submit1").click(function() {
// Find parent form (which would have the ID "1", "2", "3", etc.)
// var id = parent form ID
// Get info from "item_name1" if form "1" was submitted
// Get info from "item_name2" if form "2" was submitted
// Etc.
var item_name = $("#item_name"+id).val();
var item_notes = $("#item_notes"+id).val();
var imgid = $("#imgid"+id).val();
var price = $("#item_price"+id).val();
// declare datastring
// ajax
return false;
});
});
So my problem is that i can't send form data in FF without page refresh (though in IE7-8 everything works smoothly).
My code fragments:
I have an auto running function which slides and changes content every 3 seconds.
But I also have another jquery effect which when you click, it also changes the effect, but at the moment I can't have both running at the same time as weird behaviour happens (when clicking, it changes then because 3 seconds have passed it changes again anyway).
We want a way where the user clicks to change, and the auto running function ceases until next reload of the page. code...
how am I be able to refresh a load for a second and it will stop. Or I even an auto-F5.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble changing the font color of my labels ONLY when I stop the form from submitting due to blank fields. I'm not sure whether if just changing my CSS will achieve what I want, or am I going to have to add somethig to my if else statement, or both? I would think I would need to change CSS to :
label.onfocus {
color:red;
}
but a little confused on what else.
