I have an ASP page that displays, along with other data, a list of items that refer to a specific element in a database. Instead of adding an Add button, I would like to display a text box below the last item in the list to have the user input any new data. Once they enter the data and hit Enter, the data they enter should then be added to the list and another text box added beneath this item (just as forms and tables in Access do). However, I'm not sure how to implement this functionality.
my assignment is to create a script that will prompt users to enter a series of integers and display only the largest one. I'm having troubles figuring out how to set a var to the first item entered. I have set an array to load the #'s, and will use a for loop - does this sound right?
this is what i have so far:
Code:
var list = new Array [10]; var largest ; function displayLargest() { for (var i = 0; i < 10; i++);
Does anyone know of a place to get a code that looks at what is typed in a textbox and displays a green checkmark or a red x next to the textbox if the value entered is invalid. Eg. if no @ is entered in the email field, a red x would be shown next to the email field. Eg. if a zip code contains letters, a red x would be shown next to the zip code field. Eg. if the email field contains a @ and a period, a green check would be shown next to the email field. Etc. The green check or red x would have to be shown either as the user is typing or after they go to the next field (Blur).
I am trying to write a small javascript program where I can call the following two functions and store information which a user enters. The problem is if I call the function a second time to add more information the array gets overwritten.[code]...
I use the following to verify that a user has entered a number between 0 and 99 in a form:
It seems to work fine in all browser / machine combos except Firefox on a Mac, when entering 0 returns false (I don't know if entering other numbers also returns false.)
I have a website where people can create posts similar to FB(I hate that example but it's widely known) -- how do I strip HTML tagging out of the post before I put it in my db? (I'm using AJAX atm).The obvious crossed my mind with replacing "<" and/or ">" but I want those chars to be available when posting -- is there a way to do this or a way to print the data to my page as text even if it has those tags?
I have a JavaScript application that needs to preserve double quote marks and apostrophes (" and ') that are entered into form fields by the user. The form data is passed through several screens using hidden fields.
Right now, apostrophes work because I have the input fields coded as value="". I have not found a way for JavaScript to retrieve the field's value if double quotes are entered by the user. If I change the parameter to value='' (single quotes) then the apostrophes probably won't work.
Is there a straightforward way for JavaScript to retrieve the field value containing quotes, so that I can manipulate it into a different string that can be easily passed between HTML pages?
In my asp page, I have a dropdown box and 2 textbox. The dropdown has "select" as the first value. If value is select in the dropdown, i want to make the textbox as readonly, else it can be used for inputting.
I tried this:
Code:
function OnChange(dropdown) { var myindex = dropdown.selectedIndex; var SelValue = dropdown.options[myindex].value;
[Code].....
But, I am not able to set to readonly. How to make textbox readonly on the select change and body onload?
I'm setting up a fictitious shopping page which uses cookies to remember what a user has selected. The products are photographs that the user can select either framed or unframed versions and I'm trying to put a confirmation box if the user actually requests framed and unframed versions of the same photograph. The code I'm using actually worked before I tried to add this extra functionality but I can't work out how to test for this extra bit. Here's my code and it sets cookies with names as either lulworth01 for the unframed version or lulworth01f for the framed version. The bits that work are in black and my extra code for this test is in red.
function getCookie(name){ var index = cart.indexOf(name + "="); if(index == -1) return null; index = cart.indexOf("=", index) +1; var endstr = cart.indexOf(";",index); if (endstr == -1) endstr = cart.length; return unescape(cart.substring(index, endstr)); } function setCookie(name) { if ((name.charAt(name.length-1)='f') && (getCookie(name.substring(0,10))!=null)) { confirm("You seem to have placed orders for both a mounted and framed image of the same photograph. Is that OK?"); } else { alert("Thank you. Your basket has been updated."); x=parseInt(getCookie(name)) || 0; y=x+1; var today = new Date(); var expiry = new Date(today.getTime()+28*24*60*60*1000); // plus 28 days document.cookie=name+"="+y+";expires="+expiry.toGMTString(); cart = document.cookie; }}
I've got the following code snippet in a function to set a coockie based on whether or not the user selects a checkbox. Using an alert the cookie text looks fine but when I go to retrieve the values the only one it can find is the value for user. I've a few different things and none of them seem to work. I'm getting the same thing in both IE and Firefox. The only cookie listed is the 'user' with the proper expiration date. Code:
Are there limitation on what can be set for css styles? I have a script which sets a unique id but I wanted to turn user-select off for that item. I thought this would work: var id = 'wrapper_' +(new Date().getTime()); var wrapper = $('<div id='+id+'></div>' ); $(id).css({'-webkit-user-select: none;'});
The error I get is: Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token }
I've been reading about jquery and ajax and I'm not exactly 100% sure as to how to implement it. Essentially I have the following: A textbox A select box Another select box
As the user fills data in the textbox and then clicks off I want the javascript to fire, submit the value in the textbox to a url (I can handle the backend side of it all fine) which will then send new data to the select boxes. Similarly for the second select box when a user clicks off (After selecting) I need the jquery to fire again. I've seen this code and think I get how to write it in, but I'm not sure how to do the (When user clicks off bit of it). $.get('ajax/test.html', function(data) { $('.result').html(data); alert('Load was performed.'); });
On various video sites you can click cinema mode and the page goes dark, whilst you watch the video.
On my page I have a box which appears, where the user enters their name and email address. But I would like the box to remain active and in view. While the rest of the page goes darker and unusable, Like on the video player websites
I want to create a text box that learn form users entries... I know how to use that but with fixed values I set. I want whenever a user type a word it will be added to a text file (or any other way you know) and if the user typed the word again it will be shown from like drop-down list, like google does...
i have a dropdown list where a user can select, 'Yes','No', and 'Other'. What i need to have happen, is that if a user selects other, i need a textfield to appear so the user can enter a custom variable. does anyone have code for this?? Code:
1) search the database for the words user is typing in the text box. This will happen with each key press.2) if there is a match - I need to change the text color.
Basically, i have a past and present checkbox, start date and leave date. Now if the user clicks on the "present" checkbox i want the leave date checkbox to vanish and if clicked again i want to re-appear..Take a look at this page:-http:[url].....
now you can see at the moment i have the checkboxes past, present and 2 text boxes beneath. Can i do this?
Below is the script and form fields I am working with. What I want to do is sum the two textbox fields and have the result show in the total textbox. The code works fine and the total textbox is updated with the value of form1.basic. The problem occurs when I add the "+ parseInt(document.form2.supporter.value)" code in the script section.
Is there something that will update as soon as the user changes information in a textbox as appose to what onChange does, which is update once the focus has been taken off of the textbox? I am writing a custom cart and I am using AJAX to update the price according to how many they are ordering, I was hoping to have it update the price as soon as the user put in the volume, but it doesnt update until the user clicks somewhere else on the page.
