Accessing Elements Drawn With Script

Jul 23, 2005

However, I'm still wondering about my actual problem, which is that I need to initialize some arrays of named elements when the document is loaded so they can be used by other functions used as event handlers. What I have now is that every function that requires
these arrays checks to see whether they have been initialized, and if not initializes them. That seems to be a fairly ugly hack, and I'd like to use a better way if it exists. Does that make sense?

Moving Hundreds To Thousands Of Drawn Lines Simultaneously.

Oct 22, 2010

I'm one of the main developers from [URL](which is a gaming website), One of our main games is Free rider 2, Which we have converted to run via a database so people don't have to manually send around track codes so other people can evaluate their tracks. I am trying to build a track previewer in html5/javascript which will eventually replace our current one written in flash (which lags terribly on large tracks)

I am stuck on 1 thing though, With the larger tracks there are up to thousands of lines that are drawn using lineTo() moveTo() etc. And when i move using the arrow keys, It requires the javascript to reload the track, and parse every single line again, Causing the screen to turn white whilst it does so.

Is there a way i can use a similar method to the way it has been done in the flash version, where it is in a movieclip, which then instead of moving each line, it moves the movieclip instead.

Script:
<html>
<head>
<script type="application/javascript">
var offsetx = -133;

Trigger Mouse Events With Shapes Drawn In An HTML5 Canvas?

Jul 17, 2010

Is it possible to trigger mouse events with shapes drawn in an HTML5 canvas? I want to create a page with drawn elements that you can mouseover and pop up a dialogue box. I also want the shapes to react with some type of feedback. I'm hoping I can do this with javascript instead of Flash but haven't found a way to do it that's simple enough to make it worth it.

I am looking to make an adjustment to this script. I'm trying to find a way to do it as neatly as possible, and without breaking any pre-existing functionality.hat I'm trying to do is have the first section open by default. What makes this a challenge for me is that the boxes that assemble to create the content wrapper are drawn on page initialization.

Knowing When Graphics Have Loaded

I have an application where the user loads graphics from another site.
Presently I advise the user to wait for graphics to load before

enable the adjustments.

PNG Script Hides My Graphics!

I am very limited in my Javascript knowledge, so please keep your answers simple.

This script seems to be adding other styling to the images and the css settings here override the ones in my stylesheet even though the stylesheet comes after the script in my page. Code:

Window.print Doesn't Print Long Page / Fix It?

Jul 21, 2009

I'm facing a different problem.

I'm having a long page where there will be content to be printed.

I'm using the css using media=print to hide all the unwanted contents and using the window.print method to invoke printing.

But when i click the print button it prints only partial content upto a single page and all the remaining contents are discarded.

I wonder what may be the problem!!!

And there's another problem , i've bills to be printed in order but dont want them to be breaking in between pages .(ie a bill should be printed fully if there is enough space at the bottom or should be printed on the next page)

How can i do both of this?

Window.print() Does Not Print Page Correctly

Jun 22, 2007

So I have a print page that's written in a combination of php & html. The body tag is outside the php with an onload="window.print();window.close;"

The idea behind this print page is when the print button is pressed on the parent window, it generates this child window that is specifically made larger for printing reports that people can read easily. I use css for text styles and the table "width" is longer.

All the html code inbetween the body tags is created by php using the php "Print" function.
</head>

<body class="page" onload="window.print();window.close;">
<?php
Print "<table width=1600 border=1 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 class=page>";
Print "<tr bgcolor=cbe5ff>";
Print "<td width=30>WO #</td>";
// yada yada yada
?>

My problem is it does not print the table dimension or the font size above a certain size. When I print in landscape, which is what this page is designed for, it prints the same size as "scaled to fit" portrait. On the screen the size is correct and if I use the browser print button, it prints to the correct size.

The css works, it will make changes and will even make the text smaller just won't print over a certain size (9pt?).

Print A Div And Iframe Content With Single Print?

Jun 27, 2007

I have a requirement to print particular area of a web page. Web page has many div's and one iframe in it. I need to print a div and iframe content with one single print command. I am able to do so but then two print dialog boxes come up when the print command is given. I have written a javascript function to achieve this.

I did find a solution to this but then I do not understand why onload fails to work in this scenario. I am summarizing steps I had followed.

1) Read the contents of div using innerHTML and store it to a variable.

2) Read the contents of iframe and store it to a variable. "Details" is id of the iframe.

var iframeObj = document.getElementById("Details");
var iframeDoc;
frameDoc = iframeObj.contentWindow.document;

3) Open a window and write all these content after writing these few lines
flashDivWindow.document.write('<html><head><title>Print page</title></head><body onload="javascript:window.print()">');

When I view the source all HTML code can be seen as expected, however this doesn't trigger onload event. I need to refresh the page for print to happen, some thing which isn't practical. Using Javascript reload doesn't help as print is invoked even before the page content is reloaded.

Realtime Render - Use MathML Or Graphics And Essentially Create A Real-time Math Preview

Jul 24, 2011

I want to use MathML or maybe javascript graphics and essentially create a real-time math preview. So I want to have a text box where you insert your source code, and I want the preview box to update automatically. For example, say I want the preview box to refresh every time the user enters a space character. Is there a way to get only the new source code entered to render in the preview box without having to re-render the entire preview every time? For example, if a user types 2x^3, I want the math equivalent to show up in the preview window. If a user then types in " + 2x" I want just the " + 2x" part to be drawn right next to the already-drawn "2x^3".

Is this possible? Or is the only way to re-render the entire preview every time the user types in a new term? I would like to only change what the user has edited. If a user edits the middle of the math, then I have no choice and have to re-render everything after what the user has just edited, but when the user is editing the math at the very end, can I not just tag it on to the end and render just that little piece?
