Multiple Selects To Update The Price?

Apr 19, 2010

I am building a system for creating a booklet.I want the user to be able to select the quantity of booklets they require. (eg 50, 75, 100, 125)Then also select the number of pages each booklet will require. (eg. 4, 8, 12)

both will be select drop down boxes.I would like the price to be calculated based on the selections and displayed on the page.It will be total price not price per booklet.This is how i have built up the prices in php.

if($b_maxpages == '4' && $b_quantity == '50') { $amount = "95.00"; }
elseif($b_maxpages == '4' && $b_quantity == '75') { $amount = "103.00"; }
elseif($b_maxpages == '4' && $b_quantity == '100') { $amount = "115.00"; }

[code]....

I will also need the selected data to be posted once the form is submitted.

Update 'total' Field With Multiple Price Fields?

Nov 11, 2010

i am currently developing a cart for a website at my company.What i am attempting to do is update the grand total field dynamically as the product total (determined by quantity & price) are being populated.Each product in the cart is being generated by a foreach (php) reading from a mysql database.As the total values are not being prepopulated im not exactly sure what the logic would be to get the desired values.

I will also mention im relatively new to the whole web development area, i started begining of this year and feel i could still learn alot about the 'logic' of a computer.If anything is unclear about what i stated above feel free to request additional information.

Auto Update Price When A User Changes Options To An Item?

Dec 22, 2011

What i am trying to do is allow a user to get a quote on how much an item would be if they wanted to sell it. all the data is being generated dynamically on the item and passed to this JavaScript correctly. The issue is when a user changes his mind and switches his options a few times the price goes out of wack and some times will actually be more then the original price. For example. If the item was in mint condition it would be 100 dollars. If it is " good condition" then it would loose lets say 20 percent, so it would be worth 80 dollars. Now each item has 3 sections of questions, what is the condition of the item, any "modifiers" like water damage or functional issues, and then third section is if its missing any parts or cables. All of this is being asked on 1 page, and when a user changes any of the options it should update the price on that page with out the user needing to press update. So condition goes, 100%, 70%, 40%, 20%. Modifiers are 50 percent of current price of item, so if it was "perfect (yes I know an item cant be perfect and have water damage but this is just an example) thus being 100 dollars, and has water damage, that would make it now worth 50 dollars, and has functional issues, now worth 25 dollars. If it was missing cables, it would loose lets say 5 dollars so now its worth 20 dollars. Thats an example on how i calculate the value of the items. So once again, the actual amount is being passed correctly to this script, but when you make to many changes its not happy.

Auto Update Price Based On Form Fields?

Aug 7, 2010

I am more of a front end guy with experience in xhtml/css and want to get my hands dirty with some back-end programming (Javascript/jQuery/AJAX/PHP) and was wondering about a specific task involving (mainly) what I would believe is AJAX.

I was wondering if there is a way to have a page with a starting price of $299 (lets say a basic vacuum) then below that are 20 or so customizable add-ons to choose from through simple checkboxes. That (to me) should be easy enough, but I would love to have the grand total at the bottom of the page be updated in real time as the user checks or unchecks certain add-ons (kind like how apple.com does it).

What is a good starting point for this, and would it be possible to send out the order as an email with the total price sent to the business owner.

Multiple Selects With Multiple Div Toggles?

Feb 4, 2010

Problem: This is essentially for a model number decoder. Several selection boxes full of coded information in a left column, decoded items appearing in right column. The 'decoded' divs will only show up when their coded counterparts are selected in the dropdown. The main problem is that I know nothing of Javascript.I have cobbled together enough stuff to get the "select box 1" to toggle the corresponding div, but have no clue how to get the next in series to toggle the next div. JQuery :: Multiple Selects On One Page?

Sep 15, 2011

I have multiple selects on a single page like...<select name=select1 id=select1>

<option value="val1">Val1</option>
<option value="val2">Val2</option>
<option value="val3">Val3</option>

<select name=select1 id=select2>

Each one belongs to a student so the # in the select name/id = student_id. I want to set a value in a text box based on the value selected for that particular student.

Rather than having a script for each select, can I make a single script that can determine which select was changed and then change the text box accordingly?

JQuery :: Show/Hide Divs For Multiple Selects?

$(document).ready(function(){
$('#hide1').hide();
$('#ticket1').change(function(){
if(this.value == 'adult'){$('#hide1').hide();}

[Code]....

It works well! But my script actually clones elements of the form so a user could be selecting adult or child for a number of tickets - ticket1,ticket2,ticket3....

How can I adapt that script so that it will show/hide for each ticket

Ajax :: How To Update Multiple DIVs Accordingly

Oct 18, 2009

I am creating a form. The form uses variable to show different divs. Like for example .
If the user chooses state where tax will be implemented than it will update the div which contain total amount. Now the problem is I have 3 divs on a page and I want to update all of them accordingly. Like user select quantity as 500, state as florida. So I need to update 3 divs .. total cost, Shipping cost and quantity divs. Problem is they all r not inside a single div else I would have put tht whole div inside the response. So is there a way to update multiple divs?

Below id the ajax code I am using ..
Code:
function update_dockcontent() {
var quantityval = document.HVAC_Cards_Form.Quantity.value;
var BillingZip = document.HVAC_Cards_Form.BillingZip.value;
var url = '[URL]'+quantityval+'&BillingZip='+BillingZip;
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
req = new XMLHttpRequest();
if (req.overrideMimeType) {
req.overrideMimeType('text/xml');
} .....

Code for ajaxcall page is:
Code:
<?
header("Cache-Control: no-cache");
header("Pragma: no-cache");
$total=($_GET[qval]*0.50);
$shippingrate="50";
if($_GET[BillingZip]) {
$total=$total+$shippingrate;
}?>
<p>Total Quantity: <strong><?=$_GET[qval]?></strong></p>
<p>Shipping: <strong><?=$shippingrate?></strong></p>
<p>Total cost: <strong>$<?=number_format($total,2)?></strong></p>
I want to show all 3 of them in different divs.

<!-- Only updates single div tag. look into updating multiple div tags in same jquery-->
<script src="[URL]"></script>

$(document).ready(function() {

var refreshId = setInterval(function() {
$("#predators").load('predators.php?randval='+ Math.random());
}, 9000);
$.ajaxSetup({ cache: false });
});

The big question is; is it possible?

AJAX :: Update Multiple Window Elements With Single Request?

Dec 18, 2010

The general outline is that I have part of a page that deals with the addition, editing and deletion of upcoming events. Data is stored in a MySQL table. The form design (in traditional terms) would be very simple requiring three fields, one for the Event Name, one for the Event Description and one (hidden) to identify the UniqueID of the event in the MySQL table. (As the reference to make edits.) The table therefore has 3 fields. (There are more such as Timestamp, clientID etc, but they are not important here.)

I envisage three functions, one to add, one to edit and one to delete the event listed on the page. I have 3 php files eventadd.php, eventedit.php and eventdelete.php which speak for themselves.However, this is where I have the problem. What I have been doing is returning the xmlhttpresponse as a formatted HTML page for the two 'form' elements because whilst I can return unformatted text containing the relevant fields in one response, I don't know how to break that down into two sections for the innerHTML of the two 'form' elements that change.

Returning a formatted page does work, but as well as being slower than neccessary, I am also running into character-set encoding issues and I just know that I am not doing this properly. I can supply code and things, but I have a feeling that this problem will have come up somewhere and probably has a recognized solution because to me it seems to be such an obvious requirement to be able to populate several form elements with fields from one recordset.

I am trying to create a price calculator that automatically calculates the price of custom made picture frame. I got an equation that finds the square area of the frame by multiplying the perimeter (2*length*width) by the thickness (which the user can choose from 1.5", 2" or 3"). Then it multiplies it by a decimal number (0.27 if the frame is 1.5" thick, 0.23 if its 2" thick, and 0.18 if its 3" thick). Then it adds a $5 custom made fee to the final answer. Menus Over Form Selects

Aug 24, 2005

I have difficulties placing a menu over a select box. Whenever a menu item pops up over a select box, it's not rendered right above the select box. The menu will not appear over select box which splits up into two parts: one part with items above the select box and a second part will all remaining items below the select box.

It works in netscape,but not in "IE".
i hv tried to add the specific z-index, but still fail to display in IE.
some people use <display:none> to make the select box disappear.
However it will look strange if the select box is bigger than the menu.

except this method,
Anyone gets hints?

Search Depending On What User Selects

Jul 20, 2005

what i want to do is create several radio buttons and a textbox for
searching purposes. the search will perform a search depending on
which button the user selects.

here is what i have now:

- for each radio button, i use the onClick event handler, which calls
a function called showMe()

- showMe() {
if (button 1 was selected)
document.write('form which will search down path A');
else if (button 2 was selected)
document.write('form which will search down path B');
else if (button 3 was selected)...
}

this works, but once the user makes their selection, the search form
will pop up on another page. how do i fix it so that the search form
will display on the same page as the radio buttons? Is there any
other way to accomplish this?

Clicking First Radio Button Selects Second One?

Apr 28, 2009

I've had the following script developed which selects a second radio button when the first radio button in the pair is clicked (with the second button greyed/disable but still displaying the selection). While the script works perfectly, posting the radio button value via a hidden field, I need it to have one set of radio buttons checked by default (which I've indicated in the code... "checked"). Only problem the "Price" value isn't fed to the hidden field when the buttons are prechecked.

Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "[URL]">
<html>
<head>
<title>Test</title>
<style type="text/css">
form p {
margin: 0;
}
form div {
margin: 1em 0;
} .....

function clickWhileDisabled(el) {
// Firefox takes its time to enable the field, so delay the click and disable
el.removeAttribute('disabled');
setTimeout(function (el) {
return function () {
el.click();
el.setAttribute('disabled', 'disabled');
};
}(el), 1);
}
</script>
</body>
</html>
