Moving Focus Back To A Previous Window And Reloading?
Jan 28, 2011
I want users to work from a main application. Certain things will need to be done but the users wont want to see the main screen go away while doing these certain things. So my idea is to just open a new window with the content they need, they'll make their changes, the new window will close but then I want the main page to reload.What I've done now is at the end of the script that will be run prior to the new window closing is added this (its a php app):
At main page, I want to have a js hyperlink onclick='select products()' This Onclick will open up a new small window, list down all products, once ppl select the products and close it, the selected product(s) will directly appear inside div of the main page.
Criteria:Refresh the value into parent page div Without reloading the parent window.Ability to assign back product id and name from small window to parent window.I'm not sure how to do that.Btw, I am using jquery. If anyone know how to implement this via jquery, it will be great.
I'm having an issue with the difference in behavior between the IE and FF back buttons. I'm using jQuery to create collapsable div regions which contain text boxes on a search form. After submit, if the use clicks the back button in FF, the region(s) the user had previously expanded, show as expanded. Also, there search term is still present. In IE, when clicking the back button, all regions are collapsed, in there original loaded state, but the search term is still saved. I put the following code at the top of the page:
onload=function(){ alert('Onload!'); }
When clicking the back button in FF, nothing happens. For IE, the alert pops up. This tells me that IE reloads the page (but somehow still saves some things, like the search text). My question is, is there a way to keep IE from reloading when the use clicks 'back'? I will be creating my own 'edit' back button for users to get around this, but I also would like to prevent this from confusing users and causing undesired results.
I'm using 2 <script src="script file name here"> tags.
When I make a change to a script in the file in the 1st script tag, I have to turn the browser off and then back on to see the change-reloading the page isn't enough.
How can I make it so I see the changes by reloading the page and not turning the browser off and back on?
does any one have any idea how to go back to a calling (previous page) from the present one you are in;
1. without clicking the 'back' button on the toolbar
2. and still retain the values that a user already filled in in the previous page you are returning to (i.e. - the user should not have to fill in the values afresh)
3. maybe using the on click event of a button, or any other method.
I have a quick question - if I have a form which refers to a javascript when its submitted using:
<form name = "fred" onsubmit = "test()">
and this function creates a popup window to display information in, I find that after the window has appeared, the focus moves back to the form and the text box used to gather user input clears. The clearing text box isnt a problem, but the moving focus is. Is there a way to make it so that the window containing the popup information stays on top? This problem doesnt ocurr when I use the submit button to call the javascript function.
What i'm doing is that i've got a sign-up form. Since the signup form can be accessed from many pages, i'm trying to use javascript to go back to the page the person comes form. so what i'm using is this:
PHP Code:
This works perfectly.. BUT.. in some browsers i have to press refresh to have the changes made.
E.g. index.php says "hello guest" after signing in some browsers say "hello user" some like ie5 say "hello guest" (if i refresh, then it says "hello user")
So is there anyway to goback to the previous page in history and not to use the cache?
I have create a spinnrer (numeric up and down field) in my form.Below is the code for it:
<form action="create_session.php" method="post" name="createsession"> <!-- This will post the form to its own page"--> <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
I am designing a website for disabled football supporters and because of this, I obviously must consider accessibility to blind users whilst I am producing it - as they are one of the disability groups that I am targeting the page at.
The page basically consists of two frames; one being a vertical list of links positioned on the left hand side of the screen and the other being the main content pane, positioned in the remaining area of the screen on the right of the first frame. The first frame is used to drive the content of the second frame.
Now, I'm not sure if this is possible in JavaScript, or indeed in another scripting language, but what I want to do is to be able to alter the current focus or caret? on a web page when a link is clicked. That is, when the user selects a link from the left hand frame, then the new content is loaded into the right and the current focus jumps straight to this new information, as opposed to having to tab through all the same links again in order to put the focus there.
I know this is only a fiddly little thing but it is something that would really improve the usability of the site, especially with screen readers in mind.
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> if (confirm("Are you sure to delete?")) { self.location = 'delete.php' } else { history.go(-1); } </script>
The above code give an alert with two choices(confirm or cancel). If the user clicks the cancel button, it will go to previous page. If the user clicks the confirm button, it will go to delete.php.
I like to make it like the following. If the user clicks the cancel button, it will go to previous page. If the user clicks the confirm button, It will proceed reading the next code.(the next code contains the code for deleting.)
I tried to remove "the self.location = 'delete.php'" as a test.
Code: <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> if (confirm("Are you sure to delete?")) {
} else { history.go(-1); } </script>
The above code do; If the user clicks the cancel button, it will go to previous page. If the user clicks the confirm button, it will proceed reading the next code. So the deleting will be done.
It seems work fine.
But if the user clicks the cancel button, It will go to prevous page and the deleting will be done.(it might proceed reading the next code)
I have a validation function and the this is the last thing it does.
[code = var mytext=document.getElementById("sizip") if(check5(mytext,"Zip Code must be 5 digits.")==false) {mytext.focus();return false;} function check5(mytext,alerttxt){
[Code]....
It will validate ok, if I do not have 5 digits, I get an error box.
But then if I click the accept button again, it puts focus back on my zip code with no error.
I'm trying to write a javascript to open up multiple websites one at a time in the same window in Internet Explorer 8, but my code keeps opening the sites in a new window. I want it in the same window. I can't seem to achieve this.
[Code]....
So, currently this code opens up [URL] in a new window, then it opens [URL] in a new window and then [URL] in a new window. I do not want it to behave like this. I want all the websites to be open in the same window one after the other.
I have an Iframe in my webpage wher I have the focus. I now want to give the focus back to the parent document, so i've used top.focus() in my code. Works fine in almost every browser but not inIE7.
are there any callbacks for me to hook into in order to send the "focus ();" back to my input box when someone selects or clicks and autocomplete item?
There are 3 graphics (top left of page) which open a linked page in a pop up window; each popup comes into focus the first time it's opened - clicking on the same graphics again doesn't bring the already opened popups back into focus.I had originally sized each popup as 320x430px in the body at each of the 3 references to the linked pages, but discovered that (in FF portable 3.65.13) the popups all opened full-size windows. In an attempt to resolve this I removed the size info from each of these 3 page references (lines 84, 89, 94) and moved it to the head (line 67) which seems to have resolved the size issue, but works only when I specify the popup to be any size except the original size of 320x430 (e.g. 320x431; I have now settled for 321x431)
This is a really basic question: what does blur mean, or what does it do when used in links as described below? I've tested it on Firefox 3.6 and Opera 11 and it behaves as I hope except for one thing. During testing if I use both keyboard and mouse to navigate within the same session, the browser history for the 'other' method is wiped out; it won't go backwards beyond the most recently used method. Is this not a surprise when you know what blur really means? I want the following (assuming Javascript is enabled):
a) Keyboard users to see a focus outline on navigation links. b) Keyboard users to see the outline still there if they use the browser Back button, and continue tabbing from that link onwards. c) Mouse users to NOT see an outline if they use the browser Back button.
Pretty simple. But when the page is loaded it is thrown in the upper left hand portion of my computer screen. then i pull the window to the middle of my screen and navigate away from this page. but if i hit the back button to come back to this page the window is moved again.
one windown is opening a popup window.. and then the popup window is interacting with user information and then some processing with the use of some more php file.. now at last.. there is a "ok" button which should close this popup window and reload the parent window.. from where it was actually called.. i am trying to reload previous/parent window... using the function
I'm having trouble with Safari. After i close a popup it does not focus on the parent window. I have been looking around and i think its this sort of thing i need 'javascript:window.opener.focus()" target="_self"' but tbh i'm not in anyway a javascript whizz, so im a little confused.
