I see when I post a link to Facebook for a youtube video that it shows a thumbnail. When i click the thumbnail it plays the video right there on my facebook page.
I am wondering how do they do that trick?
So, let me take a guess.
Facebook is probably using some RSS feed aggregator to pull the info from YouTube.
They probably are also using maybe jQuery + CSS to hide the video at first. When you click the thumbnail it shows the video and then the video begins playing.
So, two questions: if that is how they do it then How do they make the hidden video not play when the page loads? how do they get it to start playing automatically once the video is revealed?
Here is what I am trying to do with no luck: I am sending an HTML marketing e-mail with a call to action to watch a video on my website. Since html e-mail code has to be pretty generic and simple I want to have the link inside the email be something like [URL].. Once the anchor is received on the web page the video automatically pops up and plays.
I have a hotspot on an image that when the user moves their mouse over it makes some text appear from 0% to 100% opacity.
This function works fine, but when the page loads for the first time the text is already displayed. So Im wondering how to set the initial opacity of the text to 0% so its hidden until activated?
Heres the code I have at the moment (relevent parts in orange):
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head>
[Code]....
I guessed by adding "sampletext2=hide" to the top but this did no good!
My site, lizbmorrison.net, uses an adapted version of superbgimage and I've been trying to find what controls the visibility of #showtitle. Currently its automatically hidden when the page loads, and can be toggled by the info button in the lower right corner, but I'd like it to be visible by default.
The content of my webpage is all contained in hidden divs. These divs are shown when a link in the nav bar is clicked. At the moment, ALL divs are hidden on page load, only the nav bar is visible. Is there a way to have one of the divs visable when the page loads? i.e the 'home' page.
function init(){ if(document.getElementById && document.createTextNode){ var mn=document.getElementById('nav'); var as=mn.getElementsByTagName('a'); for (var i=0;i<as.length;i++){ as[i]. false} as[i]. false} } hidem(); }}
function show(l){ hidem(); var id=l.href.match(/#(w.+)/)[1]; document.getElementById(id).style.display='block' }
function hidem(){ for (var i=0;i<document.getElementsByTagName('div').length;i++){ document.getElementsByTagName('div')[i].style.display='none' }}
I have done the hide/show divs using javascript.Its working fine but the problem is that at the time of page loading the hidden divs are showing first anf then disappearing.Is there any way not to show the hidden elements even if the page loads for first time
I have a slide show program. First theres stuff to set up the array, and the time between slides Then a function startIt()is defined then a function stopIt() Then two buttons, Start and Stop, which when pressed call the relevant functions.
When the page loads, you have to click the Start button to get the slide show running, but I'd like it to start running straight away without having to click. I can't for the life of me figure this out. I thought it was just a question of putting the line startIt(); Code:
I have an <img> Tab to play a video(of type .wmv). The image tag is as follows: <img border="0" dynsrc="Test1.wmv" start="fileopen" loop="1" width=1081 height=838>
Everything works fine, but now I need to play a video list (up to 5 videos). As soon as one video stops another video should start playing (at the same position automatically, without any user input) and as soon as the last video is stopped, it should start the first video again. So it will be like a loop.
i am working on a custom drop down list that has hidden #options DIV which is shown when the user clicks on a button. the problem i am having is that the click event does not seem to be attached to the LI elements since they are hidden when the page first loads. if i show the #options DIV when the page loads everything is working as expected.i've tried to attach the click event after i show the hidden UL but that didn't work either.what can i do to make sure the LI click event fires? i tried to put A tag inside of LI and attach click to that but to no avail.
I would need your helpful with a code for playing a music or video after 5 seconds launched page. I need a code to say under <body> </body> like autoplay.
01) I would like to rollover (onmouseover?) a button that is a video and have the video (button) play. (A 5 sec video that stops at end)
02) On rolloff (onmouseoff?) the same button I would like it to rewind to the beginning for next rollover.
03) I would like to add more of these "Video Button Rollovers" to the same website page in the future. I would like to use DreamWeaver CS4, and stay away from flash for more accessibility and less memory intensive overhead. (obviously no control-bar for video)
I have all the parts to this to try a variety of solutions. The video is a box with untied string on a white background. When played a person fades-on and ties the string into a bow. (white background matches website background)
Parts:
01) video from untied box to tied box with person .mov 02) image of first frame of video .jpg 03) video from untied box to tied box with person to person fade-off and untied box .mov 04) video of tied box with person to person fade-off and untied box.mov
was wondering if I could get some direction on something that I have been wondering about for a while. There have several flash video players that I have seen that only start to load/play the video when the object is visible on the screen.
For instance, if I click a link to an html page with an auto playing flv on it, and then minimize the window. The video will only start to play/load once I maximize the window again. The other instance I have seen it is with the position of the page. So if an flv is placed onto a long html page, all the way at the bottom, it will only begin to load/play once I have scrolled to make it visible.
I have done some searching but have not been able to determine what this would even be refered to as. Is it controlled by Javascript or Actionscript, or is this just a the way flash player functions?
I'm faced with a problem from my employer on making a flash video play when an image is rolled over. In a sense, with many images on the page (which represent a video), the user can preview a small sample of that clip when rolled over by the mouse. I know that when the image is rolled over I must somehow bring the player infront of the image using z-index, but can't seem to work out the details oh how to get it to play.
Does anyone have any examples I can draw from in order to help me complete this task?
I've got this code that needs to load a .wmv file - the client is adamant about using .wmv files and not Flash files - and the client insists that it use variables for the width and height parameters.I've now got the code working correctly in IE (it's always worked in Firefox) but I've just noticed that it's not working in Safari. I'm sure it's got something to do with the <object> but am not sure how to fix it.I've tried including the safari object code for wmv files and then using an if/else statement to only load the object code for safari but my javascript skills aren't that great.As it stands right now, both Firefox and IE try to load the quicktime object after they load the wmv movie object.
I'm using VS2008Pro with Master pages. On a child page, I have a modalPopupExtender that calls a panel with an embedded Google video. Everything works great - the popup appears with the video,background greyed.But, when I close the panel,the audio keeps playing in IE 7 & 8. Netscape is fine.I went and tried what Google recommended, but it still continues.
Looking for a way to have background music play automatically when my site loads, with the music being randomly picked from a list of several songs.. So each time the page loads, a different song should play.. Can be JavaScript or Flash, whichever way works the best.
Take a look at this: [url] As you can see each img thumbnail has a title underneath. But I want the title to attach on the big player. It doesn't matter where exactly as long as I can access it with css.
(I have an additional question...When I put this code online the justin bieber video doesn't play. A message from Youtube is presented telling me that this is Vevo material and it can only be viewed on youtube. But as you can see it plays on jsfiddle.net.
I am currently writing a CMS and I need a few minor variable values from the YouTube Api. I wish to embed a YouTube video into a page and then extract key information about that video such as:
1. The Title 2. The duration 3. The number of hits
It seems like when I load javascript code into a page, that each item I add, such as an accordian vertical navbar, image slider, etc, that each time I add one, the page loads a second or so slower with each one added. I would like some of these features, but is this just a part of life, or are there tricks to avoid the slower load time? It is not major time but after the 2 items I mentioned, it added on about 2 seconds.
I read that $(document).ready(function() might slow me down but I do not see that statement in any of my .js files.
I want to make a page which loads the div's with ajax The html code of the page is
Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head> //styles and other script code <script language="javascript" src="../js/intro.js"></script> </script> [Code]....
Now the problem is that javascript "freezes" and setInterval does not work.. Is there any solution to load the files order such i have it in code one-by-one and run the message function?
I seem to have coded myself into a corner, and I'm hoping you can help me out.On a product demo page, I have set up popup video modals based on hidden divs. Everything works great.exceptIn IE (all versions as far as I can tell)When the video window is closed (div hidden), the video keeps playing. This does not happen in any other browser. URL...[code]I have implemented it on a test video. It stops the video playing when the window is closed, but when the user clicks the video a second time, it won't play at all.The only alternative I can see, is to make a "new window" pop up for each video (which is not what the designers wanted)[code]
I am creating a website, and I have javascript function that will play a video playlist by passing it a playlist ID. I want to be able to share a url that points to my website and also calls a javascript function, like: [URL] If someone clicks/enters that url, they redirect to my website and the getPlaylist(id) function is called. Is there a way I can do this?
I found a javascript that I might want to use for my personal website. Just a simple code that shows hidden divs when links are clicked. But I keep getting a pop-up when the div loads. Does anyone know a way to get rid of the pop-up? It has something to do with the image loading.
Btw I did not write this code myself. I found it on a forum in a post from 2006 or so. I don't think anyone will mind me using it.
