I have a question about loading an external .html page into another page.Presumably, I need to accomplish this by using iframes, right? I have a lot of files (around 1000 files) that I need to load into the same iframe. It's only a part of the total page I need to load and to create over 1000 pages instead of using an iframe (or another way to load a page into a page, which I don't know yet?) is much more work than using the frames.
Anyway, that for background. Now to the reason why I need dynamic height. Some of the pages are like 500 px in height, while the other half of my pages have a height of around 1500px (though the height of 80% of the pages vary per page! but approximately these heights as an example). If I'm viewing a small page with a predetermined set of height of 1500px, I'll be viewing a lot of blank space. Which is why I need to get around the fixed height, so the solution is a dynamic height. Another reason why I need a dynamic height, is because I have a 'back' button function which will lead you to the previous visited page when clicked. So if you were viewing a small page, then clicked a link to view a large page.... and then click on the back button at the bottom of the large page... You'll be taken back to the small page, but viewing it from the same point as you were on the large page, so you'll be actually viewing the huge blank space.
So... I've searched the web endlessly for a script to let me predetermine the height of the loaded pages, but none of them actually give me what I want.I need the script to work in at least the three main browsers (IE, FF and Chrone) at the same time. I've only found scripts that'll only work for IE, or only for Chrome and a lot of scripts that don't even work at all. I could give you some of the codings I've found, but they still don't work well enough. Also, some of those will lead me to the top of the page when you click a link. Since there's a lot more on the main page, I either need it to stay at the same position as the previous page visited, or at the top of the iframe, not the top of the parent page.I've been searching endlessly on the web and I cannot find something that works good enough. It doesn't have to be a frame, but so far, that's only way I've found to load a page into another page.
I've written a small plugin to serve as a feature rotator and am having one strange problem. You can see some demos of the plugin and documentation here:
http://pbskids.org/pbskidswidgets/carousel.html.The plugin does a number of things that involve reading the width and height of DOM elements and using them to set the width and height of other elements. The problem is that sometimes in Firefox and Safari, when the page loads, the widths and heights of panels in the carousel are fracked.
Reload the page and the problem's fixed. In Safari, I can't get it to happen again on many reloads. In Firefox, though, if I reload repeatedly, I can get the problem to happen again: maybe once every seven or eight times. It looks like something's happening with page loading, but I'm at a loss to diagnose it further: is the script firing before the elements have fully loaded sometimes, and then works on subsequent tries because those elements are in the cache? Also: I've never seen this error in any of the IE versions.
I have jQuery loading content from an aspx page - however, once this is loaded, jQuery doesn't appear to "see" the content. For example, in the code below, I am retrieving a table, with the class "stripeme" from the aspx page - I then try to add the mouseover/alternate row scripts, but my table does not change.
My main page is: (page head info removed for length) <script type="text/javascript"> function showDetails() { var div = $("#divResult"); div.slideUp(function () { div.load("getContent.aspx", ..... Should I add dynamic content, that I then want to manipulate using jQuery, in some other way?
$.get('filename.html', function(data) { $('.class_name',data).html(); //returns the HTML of .class_name inside of filename.html });
but it didn't quite work. It loads the entire web page into the defined class name rather than loading a specific content (Look below for further understanding)The filename.html which has content tag names like "[Copyright Year] that goes in the footer position of the site gets dynamically generated.I've created another static page help.html that has pretty much the same content overall except the dynamic content won't get loaded with the content tag (the system doesn't allow static pages to load them). This is what brought me to this solution. So now that I've added a class name to the indicated class that I want to load it pulls all the content and styling of the site rather than just the dynamically generated content of (filename.html) .
<div class="adp_footer">[Copyright Footer]</div> <---- Doesn't get loaded when I used any of the above mention jquery strings,
I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link.
I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code.
So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have:
Does calling code from a .js file 50 times slow down the page load? Which method would load faster?
when i load page it does nothing only blank page, may have code in wrong place but not sure so can someone show me a working example so i can find out what i'm doing wrong also i would like the part of page to refresh evey 120 seconds is this possibe with jquery?
I have some javascript code that does some GET and POST requests that are required. Sometimes it doesn't fully execute for the user because they close or click onto another page before the javascript is completely done. Is there anyway I can let all of the javascript load first and slow down the actual page load of the website.
My goal is to load the JS for a specific element before displaying that element. I integrated a third part script, and it works well. I set the timer here:
The JS is in my heading as <script type="text/javascript" src="countdownpro.js"></script>
About mid-body I have: <span id="countdown1">2010-07-20 00:00:00 GMT+00:00</span> which allows for the setting of a target date to countdown to.
When the page first loads it shows the above long format target time, until the js/meta tags kick in to modify it to just show the actual countdown as 00:00:00.
I have attached countdownpro.js to this post. I tried shifting the function CD_Init() to the top of the script, and also appended it inline with the .html. I tried setting the big external script to "defer", but neither arrangement worked. I also tried placing the src file right at the top.
1. Load the first page of a series of pages into an iframe when you click a link 2. On each click load the next in order page 3. When last page has loaded if clicked again will start from the beginning.
What I am doing: I am creating a tutorial for a friend who cannot figure out how to use her new rental management program. I could use a manual slide show to have her click for the next image however, there are a LOT of tutorial images which show her what to do at that point. Her program contains a great number of setup screens, report screens etc. This means the slide show would be sitting there loading all these images before it will work. So, I figured, OK make a page with an iframe, and then I could put each image on it's own little page i.e. page1, page2 etc. Place a little button, or a next link, then have the link load the pages into the iframe in order.
If you look on the right panel, at the heading "What our clients / journalists say", you will notice that it fades into another set of text. However when the page first loads because it takes a few seconds loading in the twitter feed, you will see a big lump of text running down the page.
Only when the Twitter feed has loaded does the lump of text disappear. Can i overcome this somehow?
what it does is that it hide and show a panel by slidint it to the left. But my client want that on page load the panel opens automatically for about 2-3 seconds just to let users know that its here. But when the panel finished showing the button to open it again doesn't work.
I'm working with a javascript/jquery framework that allows me to build crossbrowser plugins. What i'm looking to do is add a floating DIV onto every page the browser loads. I know that to add css onto a page, normally you need to grab a class or id. However, in this case i do not know what classes/div's are available. What would be the best way to add css onto a loaded page after the page is loaded without knowing any classes/id's?
I know how to employ .load() to bring a partial doc.html into a receptacle division upon menu selection, but am still unclear after reading the api whether I can also load a dedicated .css file for it ...I suppose prior to content load(?)... or if I can/should outfit the doc.html with <head><style> yada yada</style></head> and load it as one doc..
Or is one obliged to write out the entire styling for the doc.html in camelCase as a string enclosed in .css() ??
These are various stories fetchable via a menu. Each one has a different and detailed set of classes for styling..
Lastly, should I identify each story as an id or class?
What I'm not wrapping my head around is how to lay out the stylesheet. If a particular story ...(I'm using the same name as its document page (minus '.html')... is denoted as a class or id, then how do I assure that all the classes and id's which are in effect subordinate only to that id or class name also get loaded...?
I am loading Default2.aspx from MainPage.aspx. i need to display the condense of Default2.aspx in the Div(maincontent) which i declared in Default2.aspx.
with the below code iam getting the DIV object of Default2.aspx from MainPage.aspx.
but the Default2.aspx is not showing ,can any one correct the below code. code...
I'm trying to load a page using the .load(url) from an already loaded page, but nothing responds. Below is a simple sample page created to show what I want to accomplish. Also, I'm using JQuery 1.3.
index.html
When the index.html page loads up, the page01.html loads into #mainview. And when I try to click on the <div id="clickme">Click Me!</div> inside page01.html to load page02.html, nothing works. Just can't figure out what's wrong...
I am trying to do a popup window, which will load when the page loads. Using the onLoad in the <Body> tag. However it doesn't seem to be working. Also when the popup loads there will be a form which the user selects an option and the form is sent to a email address with the answer chosen and then the popup closed. Code:
I need to know the height of the *page,* not the viewport. So if I've got a page that is like twice or three times the height of the viewport, does anyone know of any way to calculate that using JS?
It's a nutty idea I suppose, but here's the backstory: I have a client who has a site whose content is being generated by some crappy database software he is pretty much married to. The site looks like the Web era 1994, and he wants to give it a facelift, but get this -- he doesn't want to change the css stylesheet that the database company is supplying him with, because everytime they issue an update to their software, there's a new stylesheet, and he doesn't want to have to integrate their changes into whatever stylesheet he's using. Whatever.
So I mulled this over for a while and suggested that we put the db crap into an iframe and then surround it with a nice, well-designed margin that matches that of the larger institution. Far from perfect, but I thought it was a pretty good idea. Unfortunately he says the iframe can't have a scrollbar -- it has to fit all the content of the page.
So I made the iframe really big, and his response: oh, but it has all this ugly whitespace at the bottom.
Long story short (too late), I have to figure a way to adjust the height of the iframe on the fly. I've got no idea if this is humanly possible.
I am trying to create a page that when loaded automatically goes to bottom of page, i have used screen.height but i doesn't go all the way down, is there something else i can use ie document.height? Code:
What I want to do is load a div from another page into my page. This works. So on my main page, I have a set of buttons, and when I click on a button, a corresponding div gets loaded from the appropriate secondary page. For instance, if I click on a button labeled "lady Gaga", I get a bio of lady Gaga loaded into a div in my page. (The bio originates in a div on another web page on my site). So I then decided to make the bio collapsible. In other words, you could click on the title (or maybe the first 2 sentences) and the whole bio would shrink to just a few lines. Then if the user clicked on it again, it would expand again. I could then have several collapsible panels on Ms. Gaga, maybe one would be her biography, another would be her song list, and another would be reviews of her performances. The user would see them all, and could expand any one of them. Then whenthe usergets tired of that, he can click another button and see multiple collapsible panels on Bruce Springsteen. (all these panels are in a div called #content on 'bruceSpringsteen.htm')
I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible.I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading:
So its kind of complicated what I'm going to try and explain but here goes... I have a two column layout that has a thin column on the left for the menu and then a wider column on the right hand side for content.
Now the problem is that when the height content of the right hand column surpases that of the menu (left column) then I get the content that is supposed to be in the right column shifting to underneath the menu - which I do not want....
Using JQuery and CSS with javascript happens a very strange thing i'm doing a site where every page has 5 DIV in vertcal, called "div1", "div2" and so on. Every page can have a different height, so i use the following script:
[Code]...
the fact is that the DIVs in Firefox for example are interrupted at half the page...why?
I need to resize my browser to my page height. for example my page height is 500px then i need to set the browser innerHeight to 500px excluding the address bar, status bar, menu etc.
Is it faster/more beneficial to have two snippets of code be generated by php at 2 different urls and then have a load function for each url? Or have the two snippets on one page, surrounded by id's and then load them that way?
