I would like to create a thumbs up/down or yes/no like rating using jquery and php/mysql. I want to show two images and then when clicked, would like to display "thanks" and then store the value along with the page id(from the url) in the mysql db. Rating can be allowed only once for that id from one ip. I am assuming i can set a cookie or store the ip address and validate if that ip and the page id is already there.
I've been searching for something to do the following with no luck... hoping maybe someone has seen something like this. I have 2 to 3 images and one video. I want a container (div below), and 3/4 thumbnails below it. When an image is selected it shows the image, when a video is selected it plays the video in the div. I don't want any controls in the div (next image or video controls. Very basic. Anyone seen anything like this using jquery?
Fairly new to the jquery world, so I'm still learning... but I feel like there might be something like this out there.
I have a webpage with a left navigation bar and a content box with thumbnails in. I would like to be able to click one image and have all the thumbnails hide and show the larger version of the image in their place.
how to implement this bit of UI wizardry. I have a list of categories and the user is asked to pick all applicable items and then rate them individually. Right now I have a long list with checkboxes. Whenever a user checks one of the boxes a rating control pops up next to it and they just select the number of stars they want to rate the item.
Although this works for my purposes, it's a bit clumsy and takes up a lot of real estate (I have 30 items in the list so far and this may grow). What would be the best way to get this done?
i want to get rid of the "cancel rating" button that appears next to the 5 stars when enabled. I need to force the users to enter a rating,so i need to take the cancel rating button off (makes value = 0).I can't find how to change this!
After a star is clicked the form is submitted and processed. "rate.php" returns an integer from 1 to 5 with the new average rating. So far so good, but I'd like to update the Star radios with the new value and disable them after the form has been processed.
However, once the callback is included I get an error I've been trying to track down for the past day and a half. In IE the error thrown is "Object doesn't support this property or method" on Line 100 character 4. In my JS debugger the plugin breaks on line 99
Im looking for a code like the one below that automatically resizes posted images to desired size while at the same time the resized images are clickable for full size which opens in another window.
I've implemented many galleries using Cycle, bxSlider, Carousel, etc., but this is the first time I've been asked for the same functionality with vertically-scrolling thumbs. Has anyone seen anything that would fit the bill?
I'm looking for a script which will scroll the thumbs, and show the large version of the current thumb automatically. Clicking on a different thumb will override, and clicking on the arrows will scroll the thumbs, and possibly change the large image shown.
I don't have much by way of spec., so I'm assuming a lot about the way it should function, however I haven't found anything remotely close.
Is it possible in jscript to have a Rating 1 to 3 in order of preference. That means if a user rates by inputing a value 3 for example in a texbox or selecting 3 using dropdown menu. The next available options should be 2 and if he/She inputs 2 the next available option should be 1. Code:
This is a rating star row which is suppose to refresh without a browser refreshing. It is refreshing but is not CSS formatting to Code: <td><strong>Raiting:</strong></td> <td> <ul class="rated twostar" id="Torpedo"> <li class="one">1</li> <li class="two">2</li> <li class="three">3</li> <li class="four">4</li> <li class="five">5</li> </ul>
I have to refresh the browser in order to Code: <td><strong>Raiting:</strong></td> <td> <ul class="rated twostar" id="Torpedo"> <li class="one">1</li> <li class="two">2</li> <li class="three">3</li> <li class="four">4</li> <li class="five">5</li> </ul> to appear..
It's the javascript working? This is the code before clicking on one of the star in the star row. Code: <style type="text/css"> <!-- .style1 {color: #FF3300} .style2 {color: #FFFFFF} .style3 {color: #000000} --> </style> .....
The javascript links that should do the refreshing automatically supposed to be the two below: Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts/prototype.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts/rating.js"></script> How can it be possible to auto refresh it?
im trying to add a star rating system to a website. id like to do something elegant graphically instead of just using a drop down... the javascript framework im using is mootools and i found a great rating system here, but have no idea how to adjust it so that it updates the database with the new rating vote from the user and it calculates the new average rating.
the way i have the database set up for this is with the following fields: id (the rating's unique id) listingid (the listing that the rating corresponds to) userid (the user that entered the rating) rating (the rating itself)
i use php to communicate with a mysql database. the file im going to write will check to see if there is already a rating entered in from the logged in user. if there is, it will update it. if not, it will insert it, then it will calculate the average of all votes for that listing (rounded up) and return the new rating to the page and set the stars to reflect that rating... ive tweaked the code a bit to represent a 5 star system instead of a 10 star system and also so it can be used multiple times on a page.
heres what ive been playing with:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head>
I am trying to incorporate Lightbox2's image gallery script into my site but I'm having difficulty.Here's where I'm accessing the script from: http:[url]....
The image thumbs are showing up but the larger images are not. I changed the 'body onload' html tag to window.onload as I'm using two different javascripts on this page and I don't want them to conflict.I've also added initLightbox() so I don't know what's wrong! Is there just an issue with the images or is there something wrong with the script.
<script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = function(){ // use this instead of <body onload …> MM_preloadImages(MM_preloadImages('../3websites/home4.jpg','../3websites/amenities1.jpg','../3websites/inquiry1.jpg','../3websites/rates1.jpg','../3websites/photos1.jpg'); initLightbox()") } </script>
I am working on a project using the (brilliant) cycle plugin, here's the scenario: (apologies in advance for bad terminology that may be used)
I have a pager using thumbnail images, the slides contain text, at the moment cycle automatically cycles through the slides. I want each pager thumbnail that corresponds to it's respective slide to grow when active using the hoverpulse plugin.
I've been attempting to use 1.4.1 but I'm finding that $.get() and .getJSON() callbacks fail. The XHR requests succeed. I can examine the full request in both Chrome and Firebug. However, the callback functions *don't* execute. To test, I tried the same url with both 1.4.1, 1.3.2, and via a raw XMLHttpRequest(). The last 2 requests succeed, 1.4.1 fails. //v1.3.2 WORKS, fails in v1.4.1 $.get('/topic/api/template/list', function(data){
I'm was able to successfully use your plugin for firefox, safari, chrome. When the form submits the request with file upload, here is the html I send back to the browser (via Rails): <textarea>{'status': 'success', 'avatar_url': '<%=@user.avatar.url(:medium)%>'}
Here i am posting the request to a servlet.The call is going to the servlet.But i am not able to get the data (filename which i am sending ) in my servlet. How to access the param value in the servlet.
I'm trying to make a jquery powered login and register element within a webpage. The page won't read the value of the forms I want it to read. The page is here[URL].. u1241436/Messages/(login or register forms). I use the following code:
Sorry but I can't get the very first tutorial to work. I put the custom.js in a test_jr directory in htdocs. I also put the starterkit.html file in the same directory. I copied the contents of jquery-1.4.4.min.js into a jquery.js file also in the same directory. Then I did the custom.js page shown here:
I tried clicking on the [URL] and I get the starterkit.html page. If I click on the "some link" it doesn't do anything. What am I missing? There are syntax errors in my editor starting on the line with the asterisks* Why is there an error there? It looks like it closes the click function?
Iam using jquery.validate.js I have a forgot password page it has 2 input fields. 1. User name and 2. Email ID The user has to type any one of the field. How to validate this?
