JQuery :: Get Data From A Database And Pre-populatea Form With Appropriate Data For The User?
Jan 3, 2011
I would like to use jQuery to prepopulate a form - ie make a call to a php program to get data from a database and pre-populatea form with appropriate data for the user. Can anyone point me in the right direction for some examples on the simplest way to do this?
I managed to send data from the form using php & jquery/ajax. But now I need to be able to load that data back onto the form. Is it somehow possible to use the code I have for sending the data to retrieve the data?
I have a form.On the form I have a drop down box that allows the user to select a data set to work with (A or B). The table loads just fine and all is right with the world. No problems there. What I need is for the user to be able to edit the data set and have those changes written directly back to the mySQL database. They also need the option of deleting a record entirely.I know how to do all the database queries, updates, etc. I just don't know how to write the ajax forms to accomplish this.
I am trying to create a web page in which the contents of one selection list depends upon which element in another selection list is chosen, but where the information to populate the first selection list comves from an SQL database on the web server.
There are a couple of these situations in my application but, for example, the first list might be a list of counties, and the second list a list of states/provinces. Obviously the names of counties depend upon which state/province is chosen, but there are too many possibilities to be able to embed them within the web page itself. So when the user selects a state/province I need to go to the server to ask for the list of counties.
If there is a web site that addresses this sort of thing, I would appreciate any pointers.

I have a intern page with a form. User should enter their data and send the form. Some data from the user is stored in a database (name, phone). I want to make the form easier and complete the form with data from the database. The user should only enter his personal-number. How can i solve this with jquery? Is there any plugin?
Relatively new to jQuery but have a problem with getting data to display.Using a webform with 2 forms. User slects and inputs data into the first form, clicks a button then using jQuery .ajax submits the serialized data to a php script. The script processes the input into multiple paragraphs of text which is based on the input from the first form. The data is returned to the webpage and displayed in a text area (of the 2nd form) where the user can edit it to fine tune the wording. The 2 forms are displayed in different tabs so it is easy to move back and forward between the 2 forms.
The problem occurs when the user goes back to the first form and enters or selects different text and then click the submit button to generate a whole new text for insertion into the textarea on the second form. For certain fields the modified text is displayed. However if the whole of the text in the textarea is deleted, then the user clicks the submit button to re-generate the text content area then nothing at all is ever interted into the textarea. If have user alert to check that data is returned from the php handler and this text is correct. BUT when I click on the tab to see the textarea (id is "draftrec") there is no text inserted. The relevant function is below and the line that should insert the text into the textarea is:
I have PHP form application used to by Sales reps to Enter information about customers but I want to prevent Sales reps from entering same information because of web form behavior after they want to add new customer ? is their away in using Jquery to clear the form for new entry ??
I am using cookies to track form data the user inputs. The data only needs to be available during their session. I have well over 80 fields. How can I combine some of the cookies to cut down on the amount. I am storing them with JS and retrieving them with php.
i am new to J query , today is my second day. I am working on a code which i need to modify. Code is in ASP.net , J query and back end SQL server. Question is: how i check the value on a text box with database table.
if I use the page without ajax it works, if I use the script jquery it works but doesn't insert the dates in the field, it send only white field. can't pass the variable POST beetween the ajax script and the php script.
I am new to jquery and i have no freaking idea about jquery. One of the requirement is to use Jquery to datastore and dataretrieval so on my aspx page, a user enters a comment and clicks on "Add" button. When user clicks on Add button, I wan to add comments to database. Once data is added to db, I also want to retrieve same data, user name and current datetime as a dataset and show it on the page. How can I achieve this? I am creating a webservice which accepts "comments" as parameter and stores into database.
Few days ago since I started using JQuery amazing world, I got some basics to get started, I created a dialog in which I included a form that contains two text fields and a button to submit, what I want (in which I stuck now ^^) is the data interred within the form to be sent to the database, I used to do the following:
