JQuery :: .Post() - Accessing The Returned Json Object?

Sep 28, 2010

The below code posts a couple of vars to a php file which sends back a json object containing (in the test case) one object called 'faves' with 2 variables (let's say called var1 and var2). I can't seem to access the variables after the ajax call. The result is always an 'undefined' error message. I've tried:

console.log(data.var1)console.log(data.faves.var1)
console.log(var1)

All to no avail. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? I have checked with FireBug that all the data returned is good and well-formed etc.

$(function() {
$.post("<? echo base_url(); ?>test.php", {
id: "<?php echo $id; ?>",

JQuery :: IE (any Version) Is Not Parsing Returned JSON Via GetJSON Or $.ajax Calls?

Jul 6, 2009

I am trying out $.ajax instead of getJSON for debugging purposes. Because getJSON did not report an error in IE (6,7 or 8) and I am
trying to figure out why a jQuery plug-in is not painting my returned images to the screen in IE but is in other browsers. So I tried this. Interestingly enough, it hits the error event in IE but not firefox, safari and the rest and I don't know why (this code works great and renders my data just fine in FireFox and the rest). I know my returned json is valid:

$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "http://localhost:59396/sss/sssHandler.ashx?
action=getproducts&ids=" + ids,

[code]....

I don't know what else to do to troubleshoot why IE is having so much trouble with the returned JSON or just executing the function(data)
using either getJSON OR this. I have set the headers not the cache also in the response. IE refuses to enter my function(data) on the response.

[
{
"ImageTag": "u003cdiv class="CarouselItem
"u003e<p><img src="http://www.xxx.com/image/

[code]....

Same result. Firefox and the rest had no issue. IE still exited the $.ajax and my error method kicked in. No rhyme or reason whatsoever and I tried the IE Dev tools... nothing. About the only thing I get is this: Line: 163 Error: System error: -1072896658.Line 163 which is simply the line: function() { alert("An error has occurred. try again."); This has got to be the most f*d up situation I've been in and I need to get this working! I just cannot understand why IE can't parse a getJSON or $.ajax response, that is impossible or else there would be a huge meltdown with jQuery.

JQuery :: Testing For Error Condition In Returned JSON Formatted Data

Dec 14, 2010

I'm pretty new to jQuery and I'm using $.getJSON to submit some data to a PHP script which either returns 5 sets of json-formatted data or data to indicate an error condition (i.e., no data available) from the PHP database query. The callback routine handles the 5 sets of json-formatted data just fine (using $.each...) but I'm having trouble testing for either just a string with 'null' in it or a json-formatted data return of [{"error":"null"}].

My callback code for the second approach looks like this:
function handle_stores(data) {
if (data.error == "null") .....
But this test does not execute the following code for the 'true' condition, i.e., data.error == "null" never evaluates to 'true'.

Jquery :: GetJSON() Assigning JSON Returned To An Array/var Outside Callback Function?

Oct 12, 2010

I'm trying to assign the values from the JSON data returned when I run this code into an array that's outside the callback function. The data is multidimensional, and I have been able to use this data within the callback function. However I want to use it outside that function. i.e. the jsdata returned in the code below is to be used outside the function

Code:

JQuery :: Hash Values For Cycle Plugin With Multiple Slideshows On One Page

I'm a javascript rookie trying to figure out a way to get bookmarkable URLS for the images on a single page with multiple slideshows. I must admit I don't really understand the first part of the code on the Cycle demo page for this, which only works for a page with one slideshow:

While I'm shopping for a little guidance, it would also be really cool if the hash tags were semantic somehow with respect to each slideshow e.g.:

JQuery :: Malsup Form Plugin And The JSON Returned From A Form Submission: The Error Callback Is Always Called?

Aug 19, 2010

I'm having troubles with an existing J2EE application (which uses Dojo) and in which I'm gradually introducing jQuery. The specific issue is with the malsup Form plugin and the JSON returned from a form submission: the error callback is always called, regardless of what happens on the server side, and the error is always "parsererror". I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 and the 2.45 version of the malsup Form plugin.
For example, given the following code:

$(document).ready(function() {
var options = {
dataType: 'json',[code]....

the server receives the submission and handles it without errors, then in the browser I always get the same alert from the processAddressEditSubmitError() function, with an "Invalid JSON" message:

pStatus=parsererror
pErrorText=Invalid JSON: {"nickname":"trytrez","success":"success"}

However, the JSON looks OK for me (and http:[url]...agrees that it is valid).

Jquery.load Alternative To Insert Returned Values In Different Places In Html?

Jun 4, 2010

I'm currently using this bit of code which submits some form values to a php script which then returns the results into the target html as specified.

Code:
$("#ajax_totals").load("shop/calculate_order_cost", $("#shop_form").serializeArray());

However what i'd like to do is submit the form items using serializeArray but then return multiple items from the php script and insert them in multiple places on the page, not just in the form itself.

I know i could simply use that line of code 4 times over with 4 different html targets but i don't feel it is very efficient or DRY. So i'd like to know the best way to submit multiple values to a php script, return multiple responses and use those responses in multiple places in the html.

Hash Change On Forum

May 9, 2011

I need to change the way a form on my page works. As currently when you enter in the form information and hit send, you get sent to another page that loads up for testing purposes a basic 'message sent' message. I want the HTML page to load within the ID#Contact which is stylized with a width and a height. I've been directed to the following procedure but I don't know how to make it come together.

jQuery.post() jQuery API
.load() jQuery API

Detection Change Of Location.hash

Aug 18, 2005

A page I have shows a different background colour depending on the
hash portion of the url as it is first loaded. For example a link to
mysite/mypage#0000FF would result in a page with a blue background. But
another link, this one to mysite/mypage#FF0000, would not give me a red
background if directed to the window where mypage#0000FF was loaded
just one moment ago. This is normally to be expected, because the browser
thinks same page, no load event, basta.

If I use the search portion, for obvious reasons, that is treated a new page
load, even when it is from the cache, but I need the hash here. So how do I
detect in mypage the moment when the hash string is changed by a user click
event on another page in another window, perhaps even from another domain?

Notice Change Of Window.location.hash Without Polling

Nov 29, 2005

Is it possible to notice a change of window.location.hash without
polling?

I'm working on a Ajax-platform (yes, inventing the wheel again) and
have finished almost everything except the support for
back/forward-buttons. The track I'm working on is "hidden frames" to
keep state in window.location.hash. I've seen some solutions along this
way that includes polling window.location for a change... which doesn't
comply with my otherwise strict event-driven design...

Change Location.hash (1) Without History Entry And (2) Without Scrolling The Page

Mar 13, 2009

I'm attempting to implement some deep-linking in my simple AJAX application by setting location.hash, and I've run into two problems:

1) Sometimes setting location.hash seems to send the window on both IE and FF to scroll to the top of the page. I do not want any scrolling to occur. The location.hash change happens in a function which is triggered in an onclick event.

2) Changing location.hash creates a history entry on FF (not on IE)... that's pretty cool for FF, but in this case I do not want a history entry created. How can this be avoided?

I found an example which seems to have avoided both these problems, but cannot decipher the pertinent code: [URL]

Call A PL Script Through HTTP And Get Returned Values

Jul 20, 2005

What I have is a normal ASP web page wih javascript. The javascript
needs to call a payment gateway, but the only way to get to it is
https://paymentgateway/external.pl with parameters.

What is returned is a string containing several lines of information.
This information I need to formulate into my own page..

At present, I use document.location = https..... but of course this
displays the called page (above) in the browser screen with the
results.

Im sure this can be done, but how can I call this gateway webpage
without showing it (so the user would just see my please wait page)
and retrieve the data when it comes back (within 6 secs).

Parsing Returned Values From A Multiple Selection List In A Form

Jan 5, 2007

I have a form that I am using to generate an email with several user
selected fields being part of it. As part of this form, I have a select
box which allows the user to select which email addresses it should be
sent to. The box works great except that the CGI script I'm sending the
values to can only parse a single line for each field in the form. The
issue comes into play when someone selects more than one value in the
select box, the output of the select box seems to separate each value
on a separate line using a line feed (or carriage return, I can't
tell). The format that the CGI script needs is for a single line with
each of these values separated by a comma. I'm confident that a
javascript can do this fairly easily, but unfortunately, I am not very
well versed in javascript. I've found a few code snippets on the web
that I've mangled together, but since I don't really know what I'm
doing, it isn't working out so good. I've included what I have in the
form right now below (note that I've removed all of the other form data
but the select box code to save space). Code:
