View 1 Replies View RelatedI'd like to find certain keywords in the text of an html page and give it an underline and the ability to show a tooltip when hovered. When I try to use .text() on the top-level element, it just spits everything out, including javascript, etc. How can I go through line-by-line and do a word comparison with the keyword I'd like highlighted? I'm thinking of basically doing:
$(#toplevel).each(function () {
if ($(this).text() == 'keyword')
$(this).contents().filter(return this.nodeType == 3).wrap('<a></a>');
If that makes any sense.
We have site that has autolinking of keywords (~150), each going to a specific page in the site. On a forum page with 300+ posts (all on one page) the php script takes too long and errors with max execution time exceeded. (the owner want it all on one page, and there are also anchor links somewhere else directly to the posts)
Now I have tested jQuery with viewport plugin to see if I can only autolink the table-rows that are visible in the screen only. (if I run the function on the whole page the script becomes unresponsive) It works fine on page load, but when I run it in a loop to update every 5 sec the already matched keywords just disappear! I have tried the scrollstop plugin as well, but made the scroll unresponsive
var map = { 'test':'/test/test.php?id=2','test':'/test/test.php?id=2'}//these are in prod about 150 key-value pairs
(function( $ ){
$.fn.autolink = function (theProfName,theProfUrl) {

What I want it simpele. I have got 8 input fields on a form named title[1] to title[8].
I want to check in a function if there are no double titles. I have got a solution, but it is plain ugly.
How to achieve this in a elegant way?
It sucks getting old, and the brain turning to mush.I know this is easy, I for some reason just don't see it. I'm trying to run multiple occurrences of the same javascript on one page. I know I need to "name" each occurrence differently so they wont conflict, but for the life of me, I can't figure out where. Below is a copy of the entire code
<form method="POST" name="rotater">
<p><script type="text/javascript">
var photos=new Array()

I have a string (erj-23-38h4-230, for instance).
I want to remove all occurrences of the '-'
The replace function only removes the first instance. How can I remove all of them?
I'm having an issue with a regex which is not matching all occurrences.
I've included a simplified sample script in its entirety - to clarify what i'm trying to do - but note the result of the matches: It seems to find only the last occurrences in each element in the retrieved node.
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

Anyone have an easy js solution for highlighting all occurances of a given/particular string within a block of text (textarea)?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI found a small fading script online which suits my needs though I need some help changing it around a bit as it seems to only work once in a page (i.e. a second occurance of the code doesn't work though the first one continues). Also, I'm not quite sure how to put it into a .js external page and then call the specific function as many times as I want in the body and have it all work. Please advise on this issue (i.e. Putting the code in an external file and then calling the fadeIn() function as many times as I want in the body)W, the concept is a fixed imaged with the js fading another image over the top of that first image in and out over and over again. All the images and application of the js will be the same for all occurrences on the page (don't know if that's relevant to the solution I'm asking for but throwing it in there just in case).Here is the code:
<html>

I've Googled this without success. I have a webpage with an iframe which is on my same server. My parent page is a form which posts to the iframe page. The iframe page is a shell script that is used to telnet to routers and process commands and display the commands and responses.
I need to have a highlight text option on the parent page for what is displayed in the iframe. Is this possible to do this with Javascript and if so, can you share that with me?
1. append the following results to a .txt file.
2. transform the ampersands to white spaces.I am in germany so there are many letters like: , , which google writes as ampersand
3. if keywords = table content, then hilite the table-cell (DIV)where they are situated

Our company own a lot of domains and want to put a short page of copy on each address along with keywords before redirecting the user to our main site. I have been able to get the page to load the main site after the desired time using this code in the head...

That works perfectly, I am now trying to display a countdown timer from 40 seconds down to 0, and on 0 redirect the user. Saying something like "You will be redirected in XX seconds". Is there anyway of doing this? I've been searching google for the answers with no luck and can only seem to find timers that countdown to a set date.

I'm working on a script for a selection of a specific item. When I select a item the image should change, so far so good. But when I select an other item, the image of the item I selected before should change back and there is where I find myself stuck. This is my script so far
var small_src = $(this).attr('src');
var new_small_src = small_src.substring(small_src.lastIndexOf('/'), small_src.lastIndexOf('.'));
$(this).attr('src', 'img' + new_small_src + '_selected.' + /[^.]+$/.exec(small_src));
This results in changing the image to a selected image, but I can't change it back when I select an other.
I have a hover fuction that returns a jquery object when it finds an anchor. What would be the test statement to see if the next ul has a class of 'secondary'? Then if this is true I would display it.
