i want to add a part of the website that will be generated from mysql database from an external file just like php include just that i want these parts to update realtime without refreshing the browser. i also want it to have pagination.
View 6 RepliesI am having no luck with my post form to mysql. It is only posting the first letter of the word/phrase for the text input fields to the mysql database. It is a photo and text post form. The photo and only first letter of text are posting to database. I am using Jqtouch, jquery, and phonegap.

Thought it would be nice if, instead of using php for redirecting to a success/fail message in a separate php file and redirecting again back to the form with a 3 second delay, I could get a jQuery script to pop up with a success/fail message, so avoiding all the clumsy php redirecting and page refreshing.I've searched for plugins, but they all act on event listeners attached to a submit button or other clickable html element.Ive searched the net for ages and can't find an easily understood explanation and complete example, where a jQuery pop up notification is displayed in response to a php script executing a db update.
This is something I just can't seem to get to work at all. The script I am trying to make work is a fairly simple concept. I have a series of links generated from a database. Each link is a product category. The number of links depends on the number of products in the database. Threfore, to give each link a unique id, I append the product's unique key from the database to the end of the link name, so no matter how many products are in the database, each element id is unique. No problem there. The links all put the correct product info into the div when clicked. (To be accurate, it isn't really a link onclick it's an AJAX call. That is irrelevant.)
However, each 'link' also has a mouseover function that displays a set of thumbnails in the div. Specifically, this is the problem. Once the 'link' has been clicked, I want to disable the mouseover event. After the click, the div shows specific product information, because that is what the customer is interested in but if they move the mouse up or down, they get a set of thumbnails for stuff they don't want.Back to the programming. This is how I have tried to disable the thumbnails, (tinythumbs function)

I was wondering if someone could help me out with the following.I'm developing a webshop CMS in which you can create categories. By using jquery's ajax method I'm making a POST request to a PHP script which then handles all the data supplied to it. This works good and all except for the fact that after the query is being executed my HTML doesn't get updated, at least not as well as I want it to.I understand that the common way of working here is to update HTML in the success callback of the ajax method. But the thing is that every category is being displayed as a list item with an id attribute, this id corresponds to the id the category has in the database.If$.ajax tells me that everything went down smoothly and my query has been executed then there's still no way for me to know which id this new category has been given so that I can update the HTML accordingly.
What would be a "smart" way to tackle this? The first thing that comes to my mind is simply calling another script which figures out the last inserted id on the db but that would mean doing an ajax request in the callback of another ajax request? That doesn't sound right to me..

I have created a database with 2 fields, id and name.
I would like to be able to have a form on my page with 3 fields, id name and qty.
I want to link the id and name fields on my form to my database so that when a customer starts to type a product id or description it will show a list of available matches. underneath which once clicked will populate the mssing field.
So for example is i have 2 products id 998 green apples and 999 red apples.
Typing in 999 in the id field of the form would populate the name field with red apples and typing red apples in the name field would populate the id field with 99.
if someone didn't know which apples they wanted they could type apples in the name field and underneath it would show both red and green which when clicked will populate both fields.

I need to grab the last 5 rows from my database (2 fields per row) and list all 5 in a table but from within a .js file that I can externally link to.
I can manage the php / mysql and the output to a .php page but how can this be contained within a .js file?
I believe it is possible but after 2 days of searching on google I'm appealing for assistance.
I realise this could be done with a php include or iframe but that isn't an option and the only way available to import this data is via an external javascript script.

Somewhere else I query the results and print them into a table. I added a column to this table with a Delete link for each row. Clicking on delete will execute the PHP function to delete.

Likewise the first names also have links when clicked bring the user to another page with a form to edit form data.

From here however I need to change those links to Buttons. One for Delete and another for Edit and use JavaScript functions to make them work as they originally did. So this is what I've done...

Next I need to write functions...this is where I am lost. Usually I'd know what to do when referencing elements in forms, i'd do something like document.formname.inputname, but my problem is those links or should I call them actions are replaced by those new buttons.
Should I put them into a form, or make them hidden, and then name the element? Or should my function look something like this...all I really want to do is to call the function, and have the function just do the action of loading the link (don't know if that sounds clear). I've tried to do this but it does not work.

I am current building an information database for the company I work at...basically just a place for employees to get information and answers from. It is all hosted on a local server and I can only use javascript, html, and css. I've got everything made there is just one thing i want to add to it. Basically an "alerts and updates" page that only some people can edit without having to know html so if im not there they can post important updates. No computers have access to the internet so I did try some rich text editors but none of them worked. The layout I'm going for is kind of like this.

Click on links to show updates: update 1 * update 2 * update 3 * update 4
Stuff goes in the update

You click edit it prompts you to login, bring up something to edit the text in that specific update you hit submit and it changes the info that was on there. The update links are linked to a script I wrote that just display the info below so when the page loads you see whats in update 1 then you click update and it changes the content to the next one.
