JQuery :: Multiple Values In Rel Attribute Doesn't Work
Jul 4, 2010
I've got the following code (from this tutorial:[url]
thisItem = $(this).attr('rel');
Then I create HTML for navigation:
And it works perfect but only when I use single category for rel="". In this case rel="abc" works and rel="abc abc2" doesn't work.
There must be something with $('.pf_item li[rel!='+thisItem+']') but since I don't know jQuery I can't solve it myself. I just want to change this line into something that is able to work with multiple attributes in rel.

I already know that you can combine multiple attribute selectors, &&-style, by doing:
$("*[name='someName'][value='someValue']");
However, what I was wondering is, is there any way to combine multiple
attribute selectors, ||-style, such that I could select:
$("*[name='someName'][value='someValue']").add("*[name='someName']
[value='someOtherValue']");

I'm working with a large (and unweildy) ASP.NET application, and there is a lot of jQuery code that uses selectors like this:
[name=_aspnetControl$_withASubControl] And unfortunately, some selectors that also look like this:
[name^=_someAspNetControl$_radioButtonList].
In other words, the effort to remove the $ from the attribute selectors would be monumental. If it is possible to escape the $ symbols, I can do that easily enough, but unfortunately the situation right now means that I can't upgrade to jQuery 1.5.

We're trying to make all the HTML we write to be forward compatible so we're running our code through an HTML validator.The problem I'm seeing is that the 'rel' attribute is not valid for the <input> element. Although it works fine, is there a work-a-round for this?I've used the 'rel' attribute extensively since I've started using jQuery.

I have a list of products where they have minimum quantities in a hidden input. Some products have multiple colours, though the same minimum quantity and I'm trying to implement a jQuery check that entries made are at least equal to the minimum.
Blank or '0' entries are fine but if it's below the minimum quantity it should set to the minimum.
HTML:
Is there something obviously wrong with this? It isn't performing the minimum check and I'm really not sure why.

This is a makeshift sort function for a table. I want to replace a div contents with a javascript function call. It works fine if I define the individual case, but the general case doesn't work. The problem lies with the +divHold+ part. It never converges to the passed value on the 2nd iteration. This is my Div:

Each anchor is unique, but the title attribute may match the exact title of one or more images. Where a match is found, either once or more, the title text is copied - once - into the anchor element.

I've got a <select> with the multiple attribute on and then I got some jQuery doing some functions when one of the options is selected. Currently my code looks like this
$("select[name=(thename)] option").click(function() {
// do stuff..
});
and both this and the same with live ("click") works in Chrome and FF, but once again IE drops the ball. I've also tried with .change() but nothing..

In IE6 and IE7, the following results in an empty jQuery selector being returned:
$("form[name='formname']")
I tried matching on other attributes of my form such as:
$("form[method='post']")
which works without any problems.
It seems that the only situation that does not work is when trying to match the name attribute on forms. I am guessing this is just a browser bug/limitation but is it something jQuery could potentially work around? I just would prefer matching forms by name for certain situations since it makes the most sense semantically in many cases for me. Would love to know the reason why this happens. Found this bug first in jQuery 1.4.4 but forgot about it at the time until it just came up again which I replicated in version 1.5.2 and then again when I upgraded to test in version 1.6.4.

The "Permission denied" cross site issue.
I have to check from my external domain if a service is running on localhost:8080 of a local machine.
I'm using XMLHttpRequest to do it.
I'm checking a local-web-server, not a file.
Every browser doesn't work, but Firefox. So I'm looking for a work-aorund.
An iframe? a flash swf? an applet java? HTA applications?
A side question is, why does FF work? Because it's a local-web-server?

I don't know why but it's not working no matter how much i try to do it. I was planning on posting some elements on a page's div and one of them allows for mutiple things going on at once, as in allows for someone to have more than one of something. And since i don't think that it'll be working right if i try to pull it from 1+ items with the same name it'd just show the last one? Or is it that PHP would show them as a list... either way it's seeming that .attr() doesn't allow for a name change for some odd reason. And i was wondering if there was any function to allow for this to be changed easily written within jquery.

I get an error when I try to dynamically add an attribute to some elements, since I been getting the error "Object doesn't support this property or method" in IE I reduced the attribute value to just alert.
Code JavaScript:
Note that in firefox all the elements with the class boxcontainer gets "hello world" alert. I removed this specific code (shown above) out of the page and the error in IE goes away, so I'm 100% sure nothing else is causing it.

I need to copy input (checkbox) values from a form inside my iframe to the form in my parent frame using javascript and I'm not sure how to modify my current code to accomplish this! I'm using cold fusion to display the values from a database inside the iframe. Once all the values are loaded into the iframe, I need to be able to select as many as necessary and then submit the form from the parent frame which then runs a report that utilizes those values, but I can't do that because my code is written so that the values load in the iframe form and the action to run the report that requires those values is executed from the form in my parent frame. Here are the code snipits:
Main "Parent" Frame Code
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<cfparam name="WordFlag" default="0">

I'm thinking that loading the values into some sort of hidden comma delimited string structure in the parent frame would do the trick, if I'm on the right track, how would I go about doing that?

From the code given below, I think it's pretty obvious what problem I'm having, but I'll explain:
Javascript is only returning HTML DOM attribute values when they are assigned by the javascript function, not when they are assigned by CSS. So, if I set the background colour of a div using CSS, then try to call that attribute value, JS doesn't return it, BUT, if I then assign a new value using JS, it can correctly read the attribute value.
What am I doing wrong? Or can javascript not pull HTML DOM attribute values assigned by CSS?[code]...

I'm trying to select my textarea only if it is not empty. I have used :empty for this purpose. This works find when you load the page, however if you start typing in it still considers the value as it was when the page loads.
Example. If my textarea is empty when I load the page, it will consider it empty. If I starting typing in, and check if it is empty it still say it is empty.
The same vice versa. If my textarea has text when the page loads, then i clear that data, it still consider it filled not empty.
So how to make the check of :empty in real time?
