I'm using jQuery's getJSON method to get the current date from a foreign server. I however, should this request fail (e.g. if the server is down), I want to have my page fall back to a sensible default.
What I'd like to do is this: var date = "sensible default" $.getJSON(url, function(data){ date = new Date(data.datetime); }); if request was successful date will contain new Date(data.datetime); if request was unsuccessful date still contains "sensible_default"
What I have is this: var timezone = "Europe/Berlin"; var date = "sensible_default"; $.getJSON("[URL]"+timezone+"&callback=?", function(data){ date = new Date(data.datetime); }); alert(date); But this produces an alert of "sensible_default", despite the fact that the getJSON request fired correctly.
The GetCats function is called. However, when it return, thegetJSONfunction is never entered. I have tried several ways. Am I doing something wrong, or is my JsonResultinvaliFrom Controller Class:
public JsonResult GetCats() { // enters and returns fine
I have the following code which I am using with Google Maps:
var allLocations = new Array(); function getResults(){ // create the boundary for the data var bounds = map.getBounds();
[Code].....
In short, the resultData is always updating and displaying the correct array and data but the allLocations array outside of of resultData is incorrect and seems one query behind.
It seems stop method is not working for me...I don't know what I am doing wrong, but when I mouseout when the mouseover animation is still running, the mouseout animation does not occur..
I'm trying to use the Ajax $.post method, in Firefox. This same code is working for me in Chrome. The form handler is working, and I can get Firebug to breakpoint on line 12, where the $.post method is called. But, it won't ever enter the callback, so it's not getting a response. I'm not seeing any data hitting my server, either, so I can tell the POST isn't going through.
One thing to mention that seems odd, the form handler doesn't seem to be executing until the timer, defined below the form handler, executes. When I hit Submit, it'll sit there and the breakpoint won't occur until the timer occurs. This seems odd to me.
Can anyone perhaps spot something that I am doing incorrectly, here?
Code is pasted here: [url]
After further inspection, the form handler isn't running on the timer. I removed the timer all together, and the form handler is still extremely slow. It takes 3-5 seconds to hit the $.post function after submitting. Why so slow?
When i override the ajax method with $.ajaxSetup and set the type:'post', then consecutive calls to fetch data from the server, by Ajax Tabs (url), the tab stays Loading... forever. Firebug shows that a POST request was made and it completed successfully, however, the Tab stays Loading... forever. If i set it back to type:'get', the Tabs work fine. is it a bug, restriction? if it's a restriction, then why? workarounds?
Heres the code for sub-account-ajax.php: <?php if (isset($_POST['email_address'])){ echo 'youre set'; }else{ echo 'nothing set'; }?>
When this code is executed I do not get any alerts or any error messages whatsoever. I've been pretty good with figuring things out so far with jQuery, but this is the first I'm stumped with.
I have created a couple simple custom validators but this one isn't working. I have an input #eSig and two others #FirstName and #LastName. I need to add a rule that says the value of #FirstName must be contained in eSig, and one that is the same for #LastName.
I have a requirement to generate a dynamic HTML which will show popup having certain fields like logged in username and some other values which i can find in the client side. I've written javascripts for all the stuff and methods are working fine. Now, the problem is showing them in a pop-up with a close button. I developed a method constructHTML and return a variable having constructed HTML based on return values of javascript functions.Now, I opened a new window using window.open() and trying to write this html string variable to the new popup.
Triggering sounds is tricky, but I want to use the embed method since this allows sounds to overlap (by using, document.typesound one sound overwrites any that are already running). Alas, the embed method seems to be broken in my version of ie8 8.0.7600.16385 256 bit running on win 7 64bit
Here is the tag: <EMBED NAME="clinksound" SRC="audio/clink.wav" LOOP=FALSE AUTOSTART=FALSE HIDDEN=TRUE MASTERSOUND>
Here is how I call it self.document.clinksound.play(); Works fine in the version of ie8 8.0.6001.18702 128 bit I have installed on my xp system How to get this to run on the win 7 version? (I reset my browser settings and that did not work).
I have two methods and I would like to call somename1 method from within somename2 method. I have tried several ways to do so however I keep getting "TypeError" or "RefernceError" I have tried several ways to reference but I am still unable. What am I doing wrong. I would think this would be easy to do.
Trying to upgrade from JQuery 1.4.3 to 1.6.1. My getJSON queries no longer populate my SELECTs. The below code works perfectly in 1.4.3 but unsure what changes I need to make for 1.6.1.
function populateCause() { $.getJSON(urlQueries, {sql:'list_causes'}, function(data) { var select = $('#opencause'); var options = select.attr('options');
[Code]....
The ONLY change I made is sourcing JQuery 1.6.1 instead of 1.4.3. Evidently I need to change the method of parsing the JSON data also.
I am using the getJSON command and using firebug for debugging, if I go to this server i setup with this url: [URL] It returns json data warped with getdata({data}). I have validated the json part using jsonlint, so from firebug's net tab I get a param (callback getdata), header and response, etc. as expected. But if I use jquery's getjson, I get param, and header but the response is empty and function callback doesn't trigger (no alert). (I know that getjson uses OPTIONS instead of GETS and I can see that the request is made on the server and the json should be sent as normal). Here is my code for this section:
<script type="application/javascript"> function getdata(data){ alert(data.name);
The problem I'm facing is as follows. I'm using a JSON call to checksome data before doing a JS redirect to a different page. The redirectworks but it's impossible to get back to the initial page using thebrowser's back button. The initial location is not being stored in thebrowser's history.This is the script simplified. If placed on[URL]browser's back button.
After upgrading to jQuery 1.4.1 from jQuery 1.3.2, my getJSON requests fail.The error given to the ajax error handler, is "Invalid JSON: ..." where "..." is the text of the response.Firebug parses the JSON fine, and can display the JSON data as such in its console, and jQuery didn't have an issue with the same data with version 1.3.2.
The NS_ERROR_DOM_BAD_URI seems to be about cross domain issues but I'm working locally on the actual server so should I be able to access the data? Also why is there an XML parse error when I can see the exact data I want in httpfox's "Content" tab?
I have setup a little example here: [URL] It is JSONP because of cross site policy. The returned JSON is valid, you can check the response in firebug. The callback function is not fired.
Tested with jquery 1.3.2, 1.4.2 and 1.4.4. Same result.
In jQuery 1.4.4 I could load a JSON file from subdomain2.website.com to subdomain1.website.com without any problems. When I upgraded to jQuery 1.5 this didn't work anymore.
Is this a jQuery bug
$.getJSON("http://subdomain2.website.com/resources/data.json", function( data ) { console.log("data"); });
I have this basic code following and its not returning anything at all. Even the alert is not alerting. I have checked and the select is sending the value fine But nothing happens on return. What i am missing?
