Iam using jquery.validate.js I have a forgot password page it has 2 input fields. 1. User name and 2. Email ID The user has to type any one of the field. How to validate this?
Username : <input

I have written a form in HTML which contains username,lastname,email,password and submit.I have written a javascript to validate this form [validate(username,lastname,,password)].On submit this javascript function will be called and hence form get validated. I am passing all the arguements(username,lastname,email and password) to the javascript function..Is it possible to make me a code such that it should call an individual function for each field in the form.for ex:if i have not entered username, last name in the form and attempt to submit, only username arguement should be passed to the function as it comes first in the form.In other sense i want to validate individual text field validation of my form.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a form set up and I need to set the validation so if one option is selected from a picklist, they need to complete a text field as well.
This is the code i'm using:
Code:
Reason is a picklist, I want it to show the alert when option 1 from the picklist is selected and no text is in the Row_Number field.
If any of the other options are selected, I want to make sure the Row_Number field is blank.
As I said, I'm sure this is a very simple thing, but I been working on it for ages, and cannot get it to work, I get the alert every time the Row_Number field is blank.
I want to do a form validation and it should return a message like "should not be empty" when the user leaves the field blank..
I have html code like this
Now I want to know how can i display alert message to the user saying that the particular label name should not be empty..
For eg.. here I want to display alert as "Did you find this article useful? field should not be empty".... (Assuming this is mandatory)
I have so many fields like this in my form(checkbox, radio buttons, etc...) and i want to display alert with label name...
How can I do this using javascript.. (I know how to do validation in javascript popping up the alert(without label name), But I am not sure how to display alert with label name))))
In a registration form middleName field is optional. When the users enters his/her middleName, then it should validate that field. I have used the following code to achieve the above scenario, but it is not working.
$("#middleName").rules("add", {checkName: true, required: false, messages: {checkName: "Please enter a valid middle name"} });
jQuery.validator.addMethod("checkName",
function(value, element) {
var regExp = new RegExp(/^[a-zA-Z0-9s|,|.|-|']+$/);
return regExp.test(value);
},
"Please enter a valid name."
);
How to achieve the above scenario.
I have a web form with several fields. If I copy & paste from a RTF document into a field, the javascript validation and field length are bypassed and cause the form to fail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a text box.I need to
1) search the database for the words user is typing in the text box. This will happen with each key press.
2) if there is a match - I need to change the text color.
How can I achieve this?
I need to validate two forms containing multiple input fields but want just one error message if any of the fields are left blank, the page is required to submit the users details (registration form). Also if any of these fields are left blank i don't want to be able to go to the next page on clicking the submit button
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe following form validation script works, currently if one of the five fields are completed, a message appears the remaining field(s) must be completed etc. Although the information the user has inputted in the first field is cleared. How can this information be available, if there is one problem in the form it doesn't make sense that the user must re-input all the information again. I look forward to hearing your response,
function validate_form ( )

valid = true;

i know its for email validation, but how the line 1 works?and also if JQuery has this function?
if (!/^[A-Za-z0-9_.-]+@([A-Za-z0-9-]+.)+[A-Za-z0-9]{2,4}$/.test(
document.forms[0]["email"].value)) {
alert("Please enter a valid e-mail address.");

I have a form that has multiple text fields but what I'm needing to do is when a dollar amount is added to text field 1 I need to set the opposite amt in text field 2 and then NOT allow the user to make any changes to text field 2 but making it unavailable for change.
Also here is my function:
$(function() {
$("#ARTransferForm\:fromAccountAmt").blur(function() {
var fromAccountAmount = $("#ARTransferForm\:fromAccountAmt").val();
alert("fromAccountAmount " + fromAccountAmount);

I'm using Validation plugin from [URL]
I'm trying to implement a validation in my form, but that should not be bound to an specific field. in fact, I have three input type=text, and I need at least one of them to be filled (like a conditional 'required').
I could create a new validation method, like:
$.validator.addMethod("foo", function(value) {
// short version:
return field1.value + field2.value + field3.value != "";
}, 'required');
[Code].....
I have a scenario where I have the following jquery
Code:
$("#frompdc<?php echo $JavaCnt;?>").change(function(){
var id = $('#id<?php echo $JavaCnt;?>').attr('value');
var frompdc = $('#frompdc<?php echo $JavaCnt;?>').attr('value');
var topdc = $('#topdc<?php echo $JavaCnt;?>').attr('value');
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "AJ_Update.php",
data: "firm=y&id="+ id + "&frompdc=" + frompdc&topdc=" + topdc
});
And some php to insert this data
Code:
mysql_query("UPDATE TBLTRANSFERS SET FROMPDC = ".$_POST['frompdc'].", MOD_TS = '". $timenow ."' WHERE ID = ".$_POST['id']);
I'm trying to throw some validation in here which I can do in php (a language that I'm much more proficient in) but can't figure out how to get the two together. I want to be able to do a select against another table I have for both the frompdc and the topdc.
Code:
$tofpdcresult = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM tbltransferspdcexclusions where FROMPDC = '".$frompdc."' AND TOPDC = '".$topdc."'");
$tofpdcnum_rows = mysql_num_rows($tofpdcresult);
And if it exists I want to give a popup message to the user as well as blank out the field.
I'm struggling with two things:
How do I get ajax to run two queries and return the results to a popup window?
How do I blank out the field in the form?
My script is used to check some text field before the user upload some text, below you can see the code:
[Code]...
(i guess something is wrong since internet explorer works and chrome/firefox not) I also forgot to mention that the script works just fine when i am testing the webpage on my pc, the problem is when i used the webpage not locally but over the net, is there any setting should i change on my hosting server?
Can anyone tell me how i can change which attribute on my form field triggers the validation?currently it appears the be the name attribute. So in my Rails app using Rails helpers, it sets the name to somthing like formname['fieldname'] and the whole name.in my script if i do something like [codde]it causes the script to break.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am a student and new to JavaScript, my problem is I am willing to do JavaScript form validation for emails , text etc.But on one of the forum I found out JS is not a very good way to do validation as JavaScript can be easily turned off by end-user and we shld always do server side validation also, but due to some concerns I want to stick to JavaScript (client side) validation.My scenario is somewhat like Ive a form and a button in it which on being clicked calls a JavaScript function that will validate the fields and then submit the form through form.submit();So my question is if JavaScript is turned off on end user then with validation the end user will also be not able to submit the form as the form is being submitted in a JavaScript function (which is turned off)? If this is thn cool.But is it somehow possible to hack this procedure, and one can skip the JavaScript validation but can still submit the form?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to pass user input from a form to one database field. I'm relatively new to JS but the idea I had was to have several form elements and use JS to collect the users input and send all the values through a hidden element. What's happening is the variable names are being sent rather than the values. The code below is only passing to the next page. Limitations: I am editing an intranet site built by a 3rd party so a lot of the files we've been given are encrypted. I cannot change the method to post.

I've set up a mock registration form page so I can learn a bit about javascript's form validation. (newbie) I want to try to attempt to style the border of a form field green when the user enters the correct info into the form text field and red on all other fields if the user doesnt enter any info into them. When i test it, enter the right info into the username field, leave the others blank, and hit the submit button it styles the username field green ok but it doesnt make the next fields (password and so on) red. just for testing purposes I've put return false on everything so it displays a message when everythings ok.[code]
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking to add an email validation to my new user registration form. Currently, we do not validate (or activate) a new user via an activation link in the email. We don't have that process. I'd like to get my hands on the code to randonly create a security code and the actual code to sent the validation email. Can anyone help me out here? I'm absolutely new to PHP or ASP coding. I do know some HTML.

I have a phone number field on my form that needs validation, but I'm not sure how to code this. I have the following function to validate a first name is entered and last name. The phone number field must match a 7 digit or 10 digit(with area code)phone number. I want to be able to include paranthese and/or hyphens for the valid phone number.
function checkForm1() {
if (document.forms[0].firstname.value.length == 0) {
alert("You must put in a first name");

Form validationhaving had a number of responses to my initial request for a template for a simple client-side JavaScript form with basic field validation it seems that this simple request is far from simple.so, collating all of the not-so-simple comments that I have had heres a revised request
Is there anywhere that I can find a template JS script that will provide me with a form that has the most basic of fields on it first name, surname, telephone.e-mail etc that comes with field validation? The users will predominantly have hotmail, yahoo etc e-mail addresses Not all of them will have IE web browsers Not all of them will have Outlook Express as their mail client
The form fields MUST BE VALIDATED ON THE CLIENT-SIDE as there is no server-sideaccess and the site that the form is then be posted to will only accept validated field data. Or would it be simpler for someone to provide me with plans for a engine that would provide light-speed.?
I'm trying to change what the user types in a text field if they hit a certain key combination. For example, "cx".
This code checks for the letter "x" to be pressed, then checks to see if the second to last letter is the letter "c". If it is, then it deletes the letter "x" and replaces the "c" with the letter "ĉ".
Code:
// This code checks for a certain keypress combo. For example cx, Cx, gx, Gx, etc...
// The hard to type esperanto characters we aim to insert.
var esperanto_c = "ĉ";
