JQuery :: Form Validation Plugin: Customize Input Validation?
Jun 21, 2009
This is in regards to Jrn Zaefferer's plug in.How do you customize input validation so that I can remove foullanguage? So that first name or last name doesn't have "fck you" or something
I'm using the validation plugin and tries to get the invalid errors to appear like I want to. If the form isn't valid, I would like to change the invalid elements placeholder text to a different color. That's it. I don't want to show any message somewhere. Is this possible? How?
I'm using the Validation plugin for JQuery and was wondering if there was a function to submit the form without causing it to validate the form. I have a table with a list of radio-buttons and above that is a drop down list of states. The drop down list of states is used to filter the table rows and when the selected item changes it posts-back to the server (via $("#frm").submit()). I don't want this to cause any validation to occur. Is there another function I can call besides submit(), or some other method?
I'm using the jQuery form validation plugin along with the fileinput plugin which hides the initial input area, but uses <divs> and some styling /javascript to show the file input field. The issue I am having, is that the 'this field is required' text that is meant to show on submission, doesn't come up for the file input field, nor some checkboxes that I have in a table. I am guessing that this is because the code is needing the label to be RIGHT next to the element (in this case the file input or the checkbox) in order for the validation message to show..Are there any work arounds that anyone knows of so that I can get the error message to show?Is there a way to show the error message for required fields when they have a div wrapping them or anything wrapping them? [code]
I need to validate two forms containing multiple input fields but want just one error message if any of the fields are left blank, the page is required to submit the users details (registration form). Also if any of these fields are left blank i don't want to be able to go to the next page on clicking the submit button
I have a formdivided into 2 fieldsets (see the image) : MASTER and DETAIL. When I press Add in the DETAIL fieldset a new item is added to an array where I store temporarly the data entered trough the DETAIL inputs and finally when I press save I send both the MASTER and DETAIL (the temporary array shown in the html table) data to the server. As you may have already noticed, I need to validate both MASTER an DETAIL, but I don't want the Save button to fire the DETAIL validation or the Add link to fire the MASTER validation. I've been googling for a while and though I couldn't find exactly what I've been looking for, I found that it's possible to add/remove a class (e.g, required, number); that gave me some ideas on how to simulate validation groups and here's the code:
<script> $ ( document
[Code]...
Although this code allow me to stop the MASTER validation from firing when I press Add( and DETAIL validation when I click Save), I still can't manage to insert a new DETAIL if only if all of the inputs in the DETAIL fieldset are valid and, what's more I don't want the Add link to cause a form submission.
I am using the jquery validation plugin to validate a form's email address field. The validation works but with the minor exception that when trailing whitespace is entered after the email the validation fails. I'm not sure if this is because of the regexp or a missing trim.
I'm using the validation plugin available here and seem to be encountering trouble in IE7. The validation is not occuring and my forms submit. Not what I want. The functions below are working fine in FF3, Opera 9.0, Chrome, & Safari.I'm going to guess this is a result of some misplaced character or ...??? Maybe a second set of eyes will spot the error.
I have a form and trying to validate all fields with jquery validation plugin.Every thing is fine except the checkboxes which i create dynamically.[code]how i make a rule which check that if no check box is checked then show error message like above input fileds do.
Having looked at the ajax examples offered for the form plugin i was intruiged to find out how i could go about validating the form using the formvalidate plugin during the beforeSubmit callback. Ive seen that you can validate the ajaxform as shown in the following example. [URL] However i'd like to use the formvalidate as it offers alot more..

I am trying to use the jQuery validation plugin to validate my form but cant get it working. I have the script types in the header: <script type="text/javascript" src="/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/jquery.validate.js"></script>
And my Form: <form id="taskentry" method="post"> Trip Date<input type="text" class="required" name="trip[Date]" id="tripDate" placeholder="MM/DD/YYYY"/></form>
I tried this but not working: <script> $("#taskentry").validate({ rules: { tripDate: {required: true} } }); </script> How do I implement the validation plugin to use on my form?
I am using this jQuery Form Validation Plugin [URL].. But unable to get proper tutorial to use it in custom way. E.g : I have written a custom form below.. My Query is how can I control validation on a form element.Say in the following textbox named txtPaymentFirstName only Alphabet and space allowed, no special character or numbers allowed , how to do that?
Also I want only in the following textbox txtURL, valid URLs will be written, how to incorporate that rule?
I am using a jQuery plugin whihc highlights fields that are not filled out that are required fields.. Now at the moment it simply displays a "Required field" message, but i want it to highlight the text boxes in red instead, take a look at the link below, hit the submit buton and see what happens.. The styles go all wonky [URL] So can i acheive highlighting the text boxes in red if they are not filled in? I have looked at the documentation and cant seem to work out if it can be done..
I have a form with multiple fieldsets which are visible conditionally. There are three submit buttons "Abandon", "Save" and "Save & Continue". Each button should validate specific controls of the form and submit it. I tried setting "onsubmit: false" and checking for "$('#myForm').valid ()" on click of these buttons., but that validates all controls of the form.
I am trying to display validation error messages when form validation fails. Currently it does display the error messages but then disappears straight away. How can I stop the page from refreshing when validation fails? I have return false in my code when validation fails but still having same problem. Currently I have only done the validation for the full name only. The error msg is showed in:
I seem to be having trouble getting the submithandler form attribute working. The link is here: [URL]. For some reason it submits and does not show the alert I have inside the function of the submithandler attribute.
I am trying to use the jquery validation plugin with a modal form. When I click the 'Make a booking' button shown below there is no response. I guess there's something about the dom I am missing, which tends to be the case quite often.
I'm using jQuery Validation on my form with ajax submit, but for some reason the label error message is replacing my input field completely. I can't figure it out for the life of me... Here's my html/js. I'm using the default validation since i'm using the ajax submit. I've also tried the custom error's with no luck. Both the label.error and input are displayed as blocks.
The form contains 3 file input tags. The name for each is an array. This is for further processing by PHP script. I want to make sure at least one of the file input tags has selected a file.
The rest of the validation script works, but I get a 'not object' error when I include the section that checks the file input tags. Code:
Currently on my form if you your input dosn't pass my validation you will see an error message and red box will also appear around the input box. The issue is that if you will it out the box will not disappear until you hit submit. Obviously that is because I have PHP validate the form, but I would like for the red border to go away as soon as the conditions are met, which is why I thought, JS would be the best solution.
I know how to write a conditional state in JS but I am not sure ho to echo out different classes based on the conditions.
