JQuery :: Changing The Inner Html Of An Object
Apr 29, 2010
I'm using the modern equivalent of an iframe...
<object data="page.html" type="text/html" id="myiframe"></object>
and i want to change the the iframe's contents. In the past, with real iframes, i'd have...
<iframe src ="page.html" id="myiframe"></iframe>
and the jQuery to change its contents...
$('body', $('#myiframe').contents()).html(myNewHtml);
...which worked perfectly. Not so with this new object type of iframe. Anybody know how the hell to do it??

I'm trying to create an onClick that will change an embedded html page. I'm using the same syntax that works for both <img> and <iframe>.
Code:
<object id="thing" data="page1.html" type="text/html">
error message
</object>
[Code]....
There must be some fundamental difference between changing an image or iframe "src" and changing an object's "data" that totally escapes me because the above script won't update/refresh/reload/change the existing embedded page (page1.html) to page2.html.
I have run the script with an "alert(document.getElementById('thing').data)" tacked onto the end of the above script, and it does, in fact, return "page2.html" in the dialogue box. So, maybe, I just need to refresh the object (without reloading the whole page!)?
I've noticed that <object> is usually used with applets and flash and sound and there seem to be commands to "run" them, but I can't find any terms to handle updating an embedded html document. Maybe there really just isn't any way to do this yet aside from iframe?

I have the following code:
A = {
"value": "a",
};
B = A ;
B.value = "b";
alert (A.value); // => b
I expected A.value to be "a". how can I change values of a new object, without changing the parent-object?

I have a html file that I want to load, loop through the json data and for each json entry I want to add a new block of the html and insert the json data into the matching div/class of the html. json looks like this:
{"Super" : [{"Name" : "John Doe", "Age" : "30"}, {"Name" : "Jane Doe", "Age" : "40"}]};
html looks like this:
<div class="Name"></div><div class="Age"></div>
So for each json entry of name/age, I want to insert that into the html, and then add another row, until all json data has been fetched. After this I want to insert all of this into #box, which is just a divthat should contain that html. Looping like this obviously does not work, since I just keep replacing the same html through the loop.
var jsonData = {"Super" : [{"Name" : "John Doe", "Age" : "30"}, {"Name" : "Jane Doe", "Age" : "40"}]};
$.each(json.Super, function() {
$('#box .Name').html(this.Name);
$('#box .Age).html(this.Age);
});

Is there a way to change html tags without touching the inner html? For example, changing all h4 elements to an h2. Maybe something like this? jQuery('h4').replaceWith('<h2>' + (this).html + '</h2>');

I have a problem changing the text of a HTML button.
Code:
<div id="projectform">
<form action="#" method="post">
...
<button type="submit">.</button>
[Code].....
Now I can change the text of the h6 tag with $("#projectform form h6").html("new text for h6"); This works fine. But what I want is to change the text of the button $("#projectform form button").html("new text for button"); And this does not work. What's wrong here? Why can I change the h6 text, but not the text of the button?

I'm building a webpage using javascript and iframes. Basically I have an iframe in the middle of the index.html page that links to another html page (let's call it iframe.html). My question is, is it possible to call a javascript function from iframe.html to control an object on index.html? If so, how do I do this? I'd like to be able to assign an image in iframe.html with the hyperlink of href="javascript:function()", where the function effects the CSS of a div on index.html.

I'm using the JQuery Template plug-in found here : [URL]..When I run my code as such:
$("#resulttmpl").render(result).appendTo("#resultdata"); Things work fine. However in my situation I need to get the actual HTML rendered into a variable. I've tried:
$("#resulttmpl").render(result).html();
$("#resulttmpl").render(result).value();
$("#resulttmpl").render(result).text();
However none seem to be doing what I need (bringing back the full html). I've tried to debug what object is returned from .render() but I'm stuck. It looks like some sort of array. I've attached a picture from FireBug.

I have an object that defines the default color, and then when the color is updated, the different css classes need to be updated as well. So here's what I was trying to do
var colorPicker = {
mainColor: "red",
backgroundColor: this.mainColor + "bkgd",
}
So problem 1 is I keep getting "undefined" returned for "this.mainColor". If I use colorPicker.mainColor, it hasn't been created yet so it throws an error.Problem two is if I update mainColor from another function, say to make mainColor = "green", then backgroundColor doesn't automatically update.

I'm using FancyUpload (it runs on MooTools) for a section of my website. It automatically gets the <form action=""> URL of where it should send to with
HTML Code:
url: $('form').action
I'm trying to have a drop-down list so that whenever something else is chosen, the URL of which this is submitted to, changes.I know this:
HTML Code:
<select onChange="document.forms[0].action = '/upload/?section=' + this.options[this.selectedIndex].value;">, but this, of course, doesn't change anything in the uploader.
How would I change the URL of the uploader? I really don't know how I would, since this is how the JavaScript starts:
HTML Code:
window.addEvent('domready', function() { // wait for the content
// our uploader instance [code].....

My background is C++ and C#. Using basic selectors and filters in jQuery is not a problem for me. My problem is finding the right jQuery code to capture a live html page and assign an object which contains all the html text I just captured... then I can use the object to apply basic selector and filter functions to create another page.

Got an assignment for a javascript class and I have been banging my head against the wall for a week now.[code]In the main page I have tried several different ways to access the "src" property of the image, none of which I am 100% sure is correct. I think the problem is in the main page, in that I am not accessing the image right, but I could be wrong. I have spent hours on google and digging through the book, but I am still coming up empty handed.
